  • Become a Channel Member! / @masonoutdoors_masonle... The Ruger American Rifle has become extremely popular due to its affordability, reliability, accuracy and wide range of chamberings and variants. That said, it is also one of the ugliest rifles to come around in a long time, but there are ways to make this ugly hog of a rifle look better!

It's cheap (for the manufacturer ) they made it out of garbage plastic and cut corners everywhere they could. It would be okay if they were selling for 250 but they're inching up to 500-700 which USED to be the standard price range of a nice well put together model 70 or model 700 with a blued finish nicely fitted wood stock tight tolerances etc.. I have no issue with budget options being offered but when the company offers them as budget options and then slowly raises the prices over time to make these rifles their standard while simultaneously raising the price of real actual quality rifles into the 1000-1500 range that's just another form of shrinkflation. Giving us less product for more money.

A good looking gun, is easier to love, provided it shoots tight.
But I like the looks of both the Ruger & the Savage.
Regular guns, for regular folks with a regular job to do.
Can’t use one in my bench rest competition, but I can put meat on the table with em.
Which do you figure is most important ?

I'll just swap out the rifle stock into a better stock that'd be the best way of doing it then on top of that you can go someplace and you can order a metal or brownells and order a solid metal magazine for it or when you change out the rifle stock have a built-in magazine for it that could hold five shots and what's the best way of doing that or just have a four shot magazine built into it it'll be a standard stock instead of a removing the clip magazine

I am glad I got a 77 with a walnut stock years ago. That 300 win mag has been good. Shooting from a bench can be punishing but hunting offhand , standing , sitting and prone never shooting extreme distances I alway’s hit My mark. I like anything that shoots especially old military arms of every kind . I even want 57mm or 90 mm anti tank gun. I love primitive archery and frankly I have seen homemade slingshot arms that are primitive but works of art. For long range a drone that can shoot flames , land on things and create short circuits or crop dust with drugs are also possibilities
