      @laurenholmes31  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      well, i've only had it since january, and so far it has a little scratches here and there, but overall, it still looks really nice! they're really not very noticeable

      I want to get the same case, how is it holding up?

    For your dirty spare bow u don't have to get it rehaired if it's just dirty. What I got is a bow hair rejuvenating kit that I got from Swstrings.com and I usually use that and it takes off all of the dirt on my bow and I can use the kit over and over again instead of getting a bow rehair. I think it works great

    I have been wanting to play the violin for a long time now and I asked my parents for a violin as my christmas gift so that makes me an adult beginner. I really liked how you explain the contents of your violin case especially for the mute thing? Anyways, I'm looking forward for your future videos!

    This is great because most of the violins I see I really can't tell the difference between if it's a beginner violin orsay up to $16,000 and it was really hard for me to figure out which violin to start out with because I already play different instruments and I know it takes a lot of dedication and time just to begin

    What is a "mute" used for?

    • @laurenholmes31
      @laurenholmes31  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's something that you put on the bridge of a stringed instrument to dampen the sound! it can make the sound less intense. unfortunately, the example in the video wasn't very good. i think the mic on the camera still picked up the sound very well with the mute.

    • @joumanahassan911
      @joumanahassan911 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I think that's why I didn't hear the difference.. Thanks for help ❤

      Lauren Holmes, I just got a new shoulder rest and it hasn't fallen off yet, it's a mugig shoulder rest, I got it in a starter kit off of Amazon, it came with extra strings, a bridge, a mute, a tuner, rosin, a fingering sticker I can't see on my finger board (witch defetes the perpus), a cloth, and the shoulder rest, it was only 30 bucks, and for me being a beginner I needed some of that stuff. Also in the string packet it came with a G-3rd, D-4th, B-2nd, and E-1st. I don't know if that is normal so could you help me out there?

    • @laurenholmes31
      @laurenholmes31  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      your string pack came with a B string??? what brand you use is up to you, but make sure you're definitely getting packages with the correct strings

    Being a child adult it's actually wonderful. Take into account that being child-like is not the same as being child-ish. Blessings to you all, and stay child-like.

      Queen Storm i'm currently at university and i rotate between first and second violin in symphony orchestra, but when i find places to actually record more i might look into possibly doing covers!

    I have commented on so many musicians about this
    But a lot of people pronounce rosin as" Rozin "
    Please pronounce it as
    " Raw-sin"
    BTW love the violin has a great color to it 😉

    • @purrrevil

    Why do you need a mute?

    • @laurenholmes31
      @laurenholmes31  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maya Lois sometimes pieces will call for a mute which is more for artistic reasons. the mute used in pieces will most likely look like the small one i showed first. the second and bigger mute i showed is more for practicing in spaces when you don’t want to disturb others. like a hotel room for example
