Cass Scenic Railroad: Winter Express January 25

- January 25, 2025. Went to Cass today to capture the Winter Express run from Cass to Durbin. The temperature was in the single digits when we got there, and it was causing some problems. It aloud us to capture some moments we had never seen before. They were using hot water from the engine to melt ice off the tracks and the switches. We also captured the engine coming uncoupled from the passenger cars on the way out of Cass. Got to love Steam and Snow. It is a great combination. We made the usual captures @ Cass, Holsterman, Old Schoolhouse Curve at Nottingham, and Town of Durbin. @@TheChristianOutdoorsman496 Thanks 🙏🏻 No they don’t run up the mountain. They only run the Greenbrier Express route along the river. Nice flat ground
@ I didn’t figure they would go up the mountain….it would be dangerous for sure.
@ Yes. That was one reason they tried to get the Greenbrier Express completed. It gives them the ability to run these winter events
