One of the best songs from Zooropa, yet another masterpiece of an album. This has been said to Bono’s favorite U2 song, and was his Sinatra moment. :) Talks about those spirits surrounding us that are unable to reach out and actually help us in our physical struggles. Gorgeous song, dive deeper into 90’s U2.
After U2 came out with Joshua Tree (and then Rattle and Hum), I really wanted to see this band- Took a long 4 years but was able to see them for the start of this tour (in Lakeland, FL of all places)- It was incredible and something I’ll never forget. Never saw them live again but this brings back a lot of memories- Such a beautiful song. Thank you!!
As a huge U2 fan, DEI, you're making it happen! As a fan of Reaction Videos, You guys are making it happen! Jon, Dolly, you guys are fun to watch reacting to songs I love.
These phony fu8ks couldn't give a rats arse about U2. If they faked the toe curling enthusiasm any further their heads would catch fire. Embarrassing for all concerned .The fact that ye muppets are duped by their insincerity makes perfect ironic sense.
At the beginning of the clip, Bono quipped "Wim Wenders stole this song from the Beatles. We're stealing it back." It's a double reference: to Rattle and Hum, where he starts the movie saying "Charles Manson stole this song (Helter Skelter) from the Beatles. We're stealing it back," and to the fact that "Stay" was written for a Wenders movie.
The beauty here is that Bono is singing live au natural. Today so many performers are singing with real-time auto-tune or even lip syncing on top of backing tracks. The fakeness comes through with so many of today's acts and they are not spontaneously magical as happens when the music is created only by the musicians and singer on stage able to convey emotion and feeling give and take from the audience in the moment.
This was a great time. U2 at their best. And concerts without Smartphones!😍
A masterclass of songwriting 👌

Sydney Australia 1993, the best live Stay version ever in the best U2 show ever.

It comes from Wim Wenders "Sky over Berlin" and "Faraway so close films". Talks about angels who decide to become humans...
Nothing else like them... icons!
U2 kite in Boston fleet center 2001... js it's life changing

AMAZING U2
Bono can no long sing like this, I'm glad I caught him live when he could
The lyrics are amazing, and the delivery shows the Lou Reed influence.
U2 at peak of there live ability.
Would love to see the Wolf HunterZ reaction to U2- Live Aid (1985) 🙏
