  • thank you to Jessica for approving my barefoot visit to the Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa OK - I enjoyed the diverse collection of art and the beautiful grounds, and going barefoot added that extra layer of sensory impressions that added another dimension to the fun.

This is fascinating. I’ve never thought about it too much. My son has autism but the older and older I get the more my husband and I both see things in myself as well. I LOATHE socks and shoes. I will wear shoes when necessary but rarely socks. I also work year round at pool and I cannot explain the feel of wet socks. 🤮 Just hearing it makes me gag.

Thanks for sharing. I never thought twice about shoes for the first 50 years of my life. I got used to wet socks in the army running around in old-fashioned leather combat boots (they're about as waterproof as a paper towel). But now I am so happy to walk around without shoes and feel sad when I have to put them on. I also feel that many of us share attributes with the autistic community
