In fact, yes. For me it was quite a moment then. Balbir Chacha had stopped singing the older genre after Bhai Mohinder's death, and this was the one that brought him back. The first concert without Bhai Mohinder and playing his Dhamma, was at the same time heart-rendering and an honour. His dhamma, more than a century old according to him, is a prized possession of mine.
This event used to be an amazing get-together. Many elderly are gone. The Phakkar clan was there, the Zakhmis, many Darbar Sahib Ragis such as Ravinder and so on...
vaheguru - to the comment above saying they've only heard this style from namdharis, this is raag - Guru Sahib wrote all bani in raag, as in this is the way Guru Ji wanted the shabad to sound, this is the emotion he wanted attached. but vaheeeguruooooooo Bhai Balbir Singh Ji is amazing
Beautiful, I am a great fan of Dhrupad. This Jatha nails it. Tabla is good but I am purely enjoying the vocals. If ony it was tanti saaj instead of harmonium. I had only heard this style from Namdharis before this. WJKKWJKF.
I was happy Bhai Mohinder wanted a metal one, so he exchanged a new metal for his old wood! In the end I have both, but I would have rather have him in our midst. There is no comparison - metal with wood, wood all the way for me. Bhai Balbir Singh has studied khayal and sings a bit of dhrupad. Raghbir is a tabla player with a few pakhawaj compositions he learnt from him. Bhai Balbir's singing was a bit diluted for me, the reason that I couldn't continue even playing occasionally with him.
Beautiful jodi by bhai ji. Reflecting the old bols of Punjab through the teachings of great master Targhar ji.

Look closely at 08:55 and you'll see a black shadow passing quickly from the front of the camera
Yep! Possibly shadow due the setup of lights and even it's recorded on a very old VHS camera. NO PARANORMAL activity 😁

I would say, one of the important ones of his generation only.
