I think you're looking for sword and sorcery fantasy. You've already read Conan, right? Drizzt is also really great. But for S&S recs in particular, you can check out Liam's Lyceum, he reads a ton of that stuff so you'd probably get some great recs there. Picking this one in particular because it looks like the one on the cover 🐕
Thanks! I’ll check out Liam’s Lyceum, one of those channels that I should of already been aware of lol I do own the first 3 Drizzt books, at your recommendation. And yes I should be reading more Conan. Gotta make more time for the things u love 🐕
FYI, that quebec book, awesome, love it. dirty plotte...in quebec (where I'm from) plotte is a slang term for vagina. 😊 its pronounced in French like plutte😅
It is pretty awesome, There was a lil comic at the beginning that explained what and how to pronounce plotte, I just forgot to mention it And probably couldn’t show it lol
Check out the books I added on Goodreads! www.goodreads.com/friend/i?invite_token=ZjAzMzgyMzYtZGQ5Ni00NzIyLThlYmItMmUwYjZhNzhkNWRk . Hope the link works, but if it don’t I’m under “the poor person’s book reviewer” there too, thx for the follow
I do still have the last man, I’ve been moving around my tbr so much it got lost in the shuffle. Thx for reminding me. When worlds collide is a classic for a reason, I was planning of buying the sequel but that got lost in my wish list too lol
hi, there, f friend. i totally understand your rant about politics. voting seems to be such a waste of time. good for you for not voting. i wanted to vote for jill stein but the democrats took her off the ballot here in nevada so for the third election cycle i voted for "none of these candidates." i simply could not vote for either party that supported the genocide. however, i thought it was important to vote for the ballot measures some of which affected people's daily lives. i think if you voted for the dems, then you aren't really a leftist because, to name just one example, leftists don't support war. these folks who call themselves leftists are really just liberals or neolibs. i prefer to call them shitlibs but that's just me ;) the horror of being yourself? sounds interesting! i wish i had heard about this a few weeks ago. my book club was looking for a "horror" book for october and we ended up reading the horrible (not in a good way!) ghost story by peter straub. i will write this title down and maybe the next time around. i have read drive your plow over the bones of the dead which i thought was good so there's a good chance this one will be good as well. thanks! i always love when you do not finish a book. it's something i admire. i always tell people that you don't have to finish a book just because you started it. BUT it seems i can't take my own advice or, probably more accurately, that i can't seem to take my own advice as i always feel like i have to finish it. you're book club sounds like mine which certainly has a very heavy social aspect because we are all friends from our days of working in cambodia and we keep in touch with each other this way. it's funny you mention when world collide. i recall that movie from my childhood and for whatever reason it popped into my head yesterday while i was over at a friend's house. we looked for it on netflix or something and there it was so we watched it. of course, it wasn't as good as i remembered from when i was a ten year old kid. i enjoyed it but in a different way i've got the first fafhrd and grey mouser paperback that i found at a used bookstore a few months ago but i haven't gotten to it yet. too many books! the same goes for the elric books. it's good to hear that you've enjoyed them. i hope that i will as well....whenever i get to them. at the moment i'm reading one of your recommendations, smashed by junji ito. i'm only two stories in and simply enjoying that it's got drawings ;) when the wind blows sounds good. and yeah children's books are very different now than before. everything changes of course. however, it's not always for the better! i think about the kinds of books i read with students 40 years ago when i first became a teacher and, boy, are they different than the kinds of books available to kids today. so different! better? i'm not sure about that but as an older guy i'm don't think they are better. so many of them now seem to have an agenda and have forgotten that the primary rule a writer should have when telling a story is just that: it has to be a good story. agendas just ruin stories thanks for sharing about too much coffee. that was hysterical! and, of course, so true ;) not rushing through comics seems like a good idea. it's so easy to do and then you don't really reflect on what you've read or seen. as always, it's best to take your time, methinks i did look up the poem and followed along as you read. great poem! love the word choice and one can aleady see, even from such a short piece, that whitman is truly amazing. as always thanks for sharing some poetry! until next time.... 🐶🐶🐶
hi friend i hope at least the things you did vote for got passed or rejected. the shit libs trick people with the wording of the bill lol just like with politicians your dont owe an author a damn thing and should stop reading a book if it's not bringing you joy. I used to really try for the book club to finish but yeah its really more about hanging out with good people When Worlds Collide was an awesome read, it's never a good idea to re-visit a movie you loved when you were younger. remember Tango and Cash lol i feel sorry for kids nowadays and after my dnf of "valor" and "red raising" im thinking that maybe we really are at the end of history or at least that all the stories have already been told? i was telling another book club friend that i was reading poetry and she invited me to a poetry party, so i better start practicing i hope your book club starts picking better books and you find time for some sword and sorcery. take care till next time🐕

You mentioned 'When Worlds Collide'... do you still have 'The Last Man' or did you unhaul it?
I do still have the last man, I’ve been moving around my tbr so much it got lost in the shuffle. Thx for reminding me.
