    I have found that there is a priority box that will fit snugly into a medium flat rate box. I will do that to give a little extra strength to the box. I have also used swimming noodles for shipping.

    Picked up a no notch #3 arc logo lodge just like that one for $15 at a local Swapmeet. I couldn’t believe it. The seller also had #3 Martin ‘Monday morning’ too for $15. Im a proud owner of both.

    Many of us would love it if you could put together a more up to date book on Lodge and bring everyone up to date. Maybe from the 1967 onward

    Hello mate, Just got a brand new skillet, done 4 rounds of seasoning using grapeseed oil. Once cooled down after the last seasoning, i pre heated it and used butter, waited for the butter to melt ad started bubbling before trying to cook an egg. Mate the egg stuck badly. Don't know where i went wrong but how can I make this skillet non stick? any help and advice will be greatly appreciated.

    I would love to know how fix my cast iron skillet. It was a brand new Lodge and it was used before it was seasoned. Now it seems I can't get it clean. The black stuff keeps coming off when I clean it! Can someone tell me what to do to get my pan the way it should be? It would be greatly appreciated

      I dnt understand. If ur pan was new then it was already seasoned as thats how cast iron is being sold now...already seasoned. If u have residual it's probably burnt food or loose iron coming off the pan which should clear up with a good washing and several reseasonings. Each time u oil wipe the pan and bake to season u will see less and less amounts. Some ppl clean it with a Magic Eraser, rinse it then follow up with seasoning. Make sure when u apply ur oil that u wipe off really good. This helps remove loose iron dust.

      @@COOKIE-2u What kind of oil should I use before I put it in the oven? What temperature?

    • @COOKIE-2u
      @COOKIE-2u 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @lynnekokenes9636 Most prefer Crisco, Canola or Grapeseed. They bond and hold up best but u can use whatever u prefer just don't use Flax! Some use olive oil but not many. It doesn't produce a nice dark shiny patina as quickly as the 1st 3 I mentioned. Those are most popular with Crisco being the least expensive and is more commonly used. If u can season outside on a grill that will reach temps of 445-450° then that would be great if not then in ur oven and open ur window. Bake for an hour, turn off and leave in oven til very warm and repeata couple of times. Cooking will season ur iron also. After u cook just wipe out with paper towels and wash under hot water only from faucet until u get good solid layers of seasoning built up. Then u may use a Little Dawn dish soap. Mostly I wash my iron with hot water with a tad of vinegar added .. swish around and rinse again. If I have something really stuck on then I let a little hot water sit on the burnt part for 5 mins,pour that out...add a little oil and salt on the area.. I gently rub that around until the stubborn stuff is removed then rise good with hot water again. I also have a chain mail and a natural bristle dish brush. So now U dry and place on the top burner on med-low until its really warm. Touch up with a tad of Crisco..wipe all over like u see the guy in this video do. Then use a dry cloth to wipe all off. Turn up ur burner to medium- high. When it begins to smoke turn if off. Wipe it AgaiN if u want to and leave it on the hot burner til its cool. Touch ups like this after cooking in ur iron builds up a solid beautiful seasoning. GL

    Is rhere any way you could identify a couple of older BSR #5's? Pretty sure one is a red mountain but rhere is so little info on the other, just one number & one letter.
