Had this instrumental on my mind at work today. I was beat boxing and singing this before my lunch break. I am sure that this will be my song of the day. 🙌🏿
@9Bamba5 It's a 9th beat. I was around when they made the album. Dilla got shouted out because he was supposed to rhyme on the jam but due to his health and scheduling conflicts it never happened. Phonte even says, "9th Wonder on the track" during the hook at 1:10. 9th Wonder's name is in the production credits. At this point I feel like video evidence wouldn't even be enough for some people that just insist Dilla made this in opposition with all the evidence that says he didn't.
@NickVellaTV I can't believe this is still going on. I'm the guy that did T-Hug's voice on the Watch me skit on this album. 9th Wonder did this beat. They said Dilla's name in the beginning b/c Dilla was supposed to rhyme on here, but got sick and never could. You can see 9th Wonder in the liner notes if you bought the album, and you can hear Phonte in the back say "9th Wonder on the track ya'll c'mon!" at 1:10. It's not rocket science. Dilla (RIP) did not produce Hiding Place.

Thanks. I just did. People are stupid man. People can just buy the album, read the liner notes, and see. if they don't believe that they can simply listen to the song where Phonte says it. I can't believe this is still an issue of debate in 2013.
AND, a LOT of people think Dilla did this beat. Watch Me and the 5th and Fashion skit are the only two joints on MShow not produced by 9th. They were done by Khrysis and Nicolay, respectively.
@GhettoNintendo How ya'll gonna say this is a Dilla beat when Phonte clearly says "9th Wonder on the track" and a simple look at the liner notes will tell you it's 9th. I did the voice for T-Hug at the skit at the end of Watch Me. 9th DID this beat. Dilla was going to rap on the song, hence the Pooh shoutout, but it never happened.

+SuperB252 Yes! People really expose themselves as not having bought the album or even listening to the song. I'm surprised so many LB fans have believed this goofy rumor over the past decade. Your story is exactly right. Pooh even played the finished song for Dilla and he loved that they kept his name on it. They've all told that story a lot. Plus, the evidence is right there for anyone that bought the album. The liner notes clearly say produced by 9th Wonder. Also, on the first hook, Phonte clearly says in the background, "9th Wonder on the track ya'll...Also, it sounds like a 9th Wonder beat. So basically, your ears will tell if you your listen. Phonte will tell you in the song. The liner notes will tell you if you bought the album. 9th, Phonte, Pooh, and Elzhi will tell you if you check their interviews.
@@_SaXoN_ Man I literally was in the studio when the album was made, and was driving around NYC to deliver the album to Atlantic Records. I'm one of the voices on We Got Now yelling out "CHILL" on the hook, and I can pretty much tell you the exact order all of the songs were recorded in, and even down to the month that most of the beats were made. We Got Now, Say It Again, and Watch Me Remix (the version on the album isn't the original beat) were the last 3 to get recorded. I'm in the liner notes of the album. 9th would've loved to have Dilla on the album but sadly they never met before Dilla passed. Dilla was planned to have a verse on the song, but unfortunately he got sick and that wasn't able to happen either. The only reason this rumor even got started is because Pooh shouts out 'Dilla Dawg Jay Dee' on the begining of the song. Other fun trivia for the album: We Got Now had Saigon on it instead of Chaundon, but Saigon's verse got moved over 9th's Dream Merchant Vol. 2 album, and there was almost a Lovin' It Remix with T.I. Also, the original final song was The Olio, and Hold On was almost on the album early in the track sequence around where Not Enough was. The Olio and Hold On are both available on the Japanese Import and maybe also on some streaming versions of the album. The original Watch Me beat was produced by 9th, but they wanted to give Khrysis a beat on the album. The OG beat for Watch Me is on Black Album Rejects (Track 12).
@GhettoNintendo I also think it is a Dilla beat, since its on one of his beat tapes, but BinaryVisi0n would be the first person id ask about this, dude has beats from Dilla that even Dilla himself didnt have lol
youre wrong...go look at phontes video about making this song with elzhi. he clearly explains that dilla was supposed to drop a verse but got sick out in cali (rip)

9th doesn't think he's better than Dilla either. Dilla was gonna be on the track like I said, but it didn't happen in time. Of COURSE they have similar styles.
love how that inhaling sound right after the second snare serves as an open hat
This one of the hardest beats I’ve ever heard no cap
right on buddy. you can tell it's 9th if you just listen to the snare, no doubt in my mind.
I was around when this album was recorded fam. This was meant to have that SVillage sound!

Andre but as
They both produced it together, Jay Dee did the drums, ain’t that obvious though?

9th wonder made this beat. He sampled Bobby Womacks "Jealous love" (skip to 4:32)
When you listen to Sincerely Yours, "My bad I missed your Barmitsvah man..." that's me.
Andre lol why y’all had to play Big Pooh like that tho 😂😂😂
Thanx
this was a sick 1 here.. dilla and 9th ooooweeeeee!!

lol word elzhi is the future for hip hop dude iLL
Hmmmmm. Waves is the shit. I dunno what my favorite Dilla beat is. My top 5 now is: Just Blaze, ALC, Nottz, 9th, Khrysis/Sid Roams
dillla!!
BTW: Dilla is not my favorite producer. Not at all. But he did have the best drums of everyone. Dilla was a drum god man.
And I know Khrysis' favorite at the moment is Nottz. Might be 9ths too, I can ask.
9th Wonder & Phote Bodied this
Watch his red bull music academy interview. He plays a bunch of beats off the Coming to America movie, which he used for samples.

No, 9th did.
yo check out "Outta Space" by JSWISS over this beat!!
I mean, I could be wrong but I believe 9th tried to make it a "Dilla-esque" beat. Especially with the drums.
Well he nailed it and never did another beat quite like this go figure
Bmm, bmm, bmm,
Bmm Bmmmmmm
No, Hiding Place was meant to have a Dilla flavor to it.
its not Dilla..
LOL. Yes. I'm White Mike from the Chitlin Citcuit 1.5 outro and T-Hug on the Minstrel Show.
did J Dilla make this beat?
Danny Knight 9th Wonder

@przewrocony456 Not true. 9th Wonder made the beat.
Of course it screams 9th. it IS a 9th beat. The drums sound Dilla-esque though, and if you don't believe they do, listen to more Dilla.
please dont...
No shit. Cause 9th is better IMHO. I lived next door and worked with him for 3-4 years. Of course 9th is better fam. What the fuck we arguing about?
