Van looks every bit the 1970s Troubadour on this album cover, thanks for uploading such a great quality audio - for me, this is one of Van's most beautiful albums - easily up there with Veedon Fleece and Astral Weeks 💗 a true 'soul' singer
For my Brother Rich. You turned me onto Tupelo Honey. I know you're listening from above. I Love you, Man. I'll see you on the other side . I won't be Late.
Would’ve really dug seeing THIS era of Van & band, just a little before my time. I did get to see him in early/mid 80’s with Pee Wee Ellis era band,& early 90’s with Georgie Fame on organ. Saw him a couple years ago @ Hollywood Bowl, hasn’t lost a step!
Sitting in my caravan bored to death raining cats and dogs, then I came across this fantastic music.
Thanks a million,van the man.❤❤❤

On Saint Dominic's Preview, the song, it's a Fender Precision bass, part by Bill Church.
Side two of this album may be my favorite by Van.
Love!
Last listened to this album around 2006.

The upright bass is reminiscent of Astral Weeks.

If memory serves, Ronnie Montrose played on this album, on Almost Independence Day.
I stand corrected; on 'Listen to the Lion.'
Doug Messenger on guitar - Jackie Wilson, Gypsy, I Will be There, Saint D's Preview and Redwood Tree.
