- Chocolate town USA, yes, where there truely is an aroma of chocolate in the air, but today, and even bigger attraction other than cocoa, or Hershey Park: A gathering of rare locomotives for an awesome show of shifting. All nine have an ex-Conrail history... and you will see:
NS 19G setting off loads / picking up empties with:
NS D8-40CW 8420
NS D8-40CW 8315
NS GP38-2 5329
NS GP38-2 5277 "CRQ"
CSX GP15-1 1554 "CRQ"
NS GP38-2 5312
NS SD45-2 1705
NS SD45-2 1703
And H2A, the famed "Hershey Shifter", moving tankers at the main plant with NS GP38-2 5669, in nice clean Operation Lifesaver paint.
"So the 1554 is a CSX, huh?" --- You darn well bet it is, one of the remaining two CSX GP15-1's in Conrail paint!
Enjoy all this pure epicness.
It really does make me miss the GP15-1's NS had. They were stationed all over the place around here. Then one day, actually two months before their predicted retirement of March 1, 2007, they were gone. They are now at Larry's "rent-a-wreck".
One 16T had a trio of D9-40C's this week, but I missed that. A lot were released from storage. D8-40C's are rare right now, 90% are stored. I have seen D9-40C's on other trains too. It's almost impossible to find them leading here, since most trains come from cab signal territory.
Thanks, I love all your videos too. Hopefully someday I can come down there.
awesome video that was really a nice lash up of locos of my favourite railroad in USA the NS 5***** and favourites
Ah, yeah, they're always making heck out of the numbers. What really bothers me about the 8420 is the fresh paint. In fact, I could still see the "Conrail Quality" logo bulging through the tightly coated NS glaze; I'm not sure if this can be seen in HD mode or not.
Great video, I like the old Conrail paint too.
I am amazed at the quality of every one of your videos. It's almost like you plan the shot and order the train to come to the exact location and do the exact thing that you want it to. Wow. 1 kagillion/5* & Fav!!!
Yup, our CTC always shines bright. :-)
That happens a lot with YT videos, sometimes it lasts only a day and sometimes a week.
Very, VERY nice. I wonder if I've seen a CSX GP15-1 in the CSX yard at Decatur before... I may have seen a couple but surely not in Conrail paint.
Awesome catch Eric!!
Eric, your picture is breath taking. Its like when you and I are trackside on one of our trips.
Ive been working my tail off trying to save up for a new camera, mine is just not cutting it anymore.
40-45 Daily. We used to have over 50 daily but the economy hurt that.
Ozzy,
I looked at a few of your vids the other night. Your sound is really good and I appreciate your tripod work.
I really appreciated this clip, which reminds me of something. The two SD45s here are former EL power, and I was watching Emery Gulash's film of that.
Here's the deal....Emery didn't have a zoom. He picked a focal length and stuck with it. You have some points where your framing is just wonderful and you should just leave the zoom alone and let the sound do the work.
The view count for this video is frozen, I'm not sure what's up, anyone have an idea?
I agree. Why not paint a couple hundred units in conrail and conrail Q paint. Wouldnt hurt? Theyre such beautiful units. Especially the gp38-2s and sd40-2s
Yeah... by the way, caught NS Dash 8-40C 8737 trailing on NS #301 today... I probably didn't tell you this but I've been seeing more NS Dash 9-40Cs here too. Have you seen the C40-8s or C40-9s out there recently?
awesome video great job & nice catch 5/5
keep up the good work & great videos
coming.
it's kind of sad that you just caught 10% of Conrail painted power on NS. Nice video though!
NICE. I've got a video that had two of Dash 9-40Cs on my channel... you'd have to look for it if you wanna see it. And yeah, a month ago NS 8731 (Dash 8-40C) was leading a train out of Decatur. I bet it went to storage after it got to where it was going.
hi, the movies is excellent, thanks ★★★★★
nice catch on the CSX CR
nice lots of foemr conrail equipment in there
@55098 New paint. Its an ex Conrail.
unit 8420 either had a fresh paintjob or its new
were some of those engines destined for a Graveyard run?
Heh, Heh, under the cab of the ex-conrail dash 8 it says "d6-40cw!"
thats a nice dash 8-40cw
Operation Livesaver,Look Lister & Lives NS 5669 7:27.
i dont know why my comment came out like that. what i meant was why is ns 1705's horn blue? was it ex-conrail?
NS 1700-1705 are all ex Erie Lackawanna SD45-2's
Back when NS actually knew WTF they were doing.
why was #1705's horn blue? was it ex-conrail?
Why so many locomotives?
funny there is a CSX patched conrail in the mix you dont see that everyday
