Any models you don't want you could always give to a local group for children with learning difficulties, especially the quick fit ones. Having Aspergers I find modelling has helped me calm down and become less stressed and anxious. Also it helps me concentrate too.
That old Hasegawa Spitfire Mk Ia actually goes all the way back to 1975. Bought one myself in a similar box to the one you have in 1984 aged 14. Not a bad kit, but showing it's age now. I remember really wanting it at the time as it was the only 1/72 kit that had Al Deere's markings in the box. It was also about the only 1/72 Spitfire kit at the time that included a two bladed prop and the early canopy in the box, so that was always an added bonus.

Like other commenters I agree 100% with the idea of donating your unwanted kits to Charity. And even seeing a video on it. I’ve donated quite a few unwanted kits to charity. Trust me it helps to free up space and causes like Models for Heroes are always grateful for donations. So hopefully it will help you out with your stash of unwanted model kits.

Based on recommendations from others, I have bought the Atlantic models detail kit for the Devonshire. It looks like it really lifts the quality of the model.
The acrylic primer is what you need for "vinyl". Those 1/72 or 1/76 scale figures from Airfix are soft vinyl. I like looking at my stash which is just like being in a hobby shop. But, every kit is exactly up my alley.
I have to say that I am amused by your claim that you have too many model kits. But, that being an aside, great haul mate. I have built the old Mk la and it is a nice kit. I got a ffew of the airfix kits also, lol. I Got the modelmaster series of paint by testors. I also have quite a few of the Vallejo paints. I have some humbrol tins from the early 2000's. I however, prefer the older matchbox and frog kits to the new kits. You should look up the instructions to the older kits on scalemates.
Very nice video and material Matt. Indeed it's a good idea to do something with 1/600HMS Devonshire and the 1/48 Westland Lynx. Also a nice part of this video is the Humbrol stuff. The only thing that Humbrol maybee had to put in this box was their decal (water) fix, so you could make a video of the use of this. But like a said before a very nice video 👍

May be this it's not the best but it"s not bad either, because you have also to remember it's only 1 bottle solution, and there are other brands where you need 2 bottles!!! And even for inktjet printed decals the most brands have a problem with the shining film. I did find a nice reviewing video from Disgruntled Duck. If you like i give you the link off his review.
I'd like to see the Skyhawk built not as a paint mule, but as a regular video build. You could get the Xtradecals set for Argentinian Skyhawks and paint it that way.
A joint build with the Lynx would be good to see. We hear about old and new tooling all the time but not many people actually have a good bench mark to see what that means in reality.
I've never built a ship / boat had some kits but sold them off, so would be interesting to see you build one and then possibly end up kicking myself for not building the ones I had 🤯
Q: The Boulton Paul Defiant - I remember doing one years ago and mine was the night fighter too. Is that the Battle of France one where they fared better, or the Battle of Britain one where they didn't do so well?
pretty sure the one in the starter set is a BoB one (although it is a bit vague, it just says that it is in England in 1940 - so it could be pre-BoB just not deployed to France)
@@ModelMinutes My pet subject, sorry about that :) The AASF (Advanced Air Striking Force) was the RAF component of the BEF in France / Belgium in 1939-40. They had Hurricanes, Fairey Battles, and Blenheims based in France, backed up with more Blenheims and Whitleys based in England. I've just looked up the squadron letter codes (I'm a geek like that *lol*). YD was 252 squadron, equipped with the Defiant from Nov 1940 - Sept 1941, so post-BofB. Bit of a clanger on the box art though as 255 was a /night/ fighter squadron by then but the painting is in day camouflage.
Well I see allot of people selling their stashes they need to get rid of on e-bay you might try making some money doing that also it looks like what they gave you is kwel I especially like the big Air fix logo they gave you also the paints which look like they our in new bottles from Humbral an glad Humbral is getting advanced to change finally their tins our now going to bottles that is good to finally see an also the two quick builds you could donate to a school to their art department for kids to build anyway thank you for showing what you got an as the modeler shep Pain once said in America MODEL ON.
Awesome! I've only been there once (whilst passing through the area) and it was a very clean, organised and efficient looking shop. Staff were helpful too. I have a general rule that if I go into a model shop, I have to buy something to try and support them, even if it is something small like a tin of paint

Can a stash really ever be TOO BIG? No. I went to OshKosh AirVenture and the Mig29 in digital black and white camo was soo cool, I have to build one. Yet I dont have one in my stash !...

Starter kits aren't issued without paints - that's why mine was reduced. It was effectively a defective product hence the low price. If however you mean a normal kit (that doesn't come with paints) is more expensive, then yes, you are right. But then those are not sold as "defective". It's a bit like when you go to the supermarket at the end of the day and pick up all the food that's going out of date for dirt cheap...
@@ModelMinutes but they’re far more motivated to sell food that would otherwise have to be destroyed, while if Airfix is presumably still making a profit at £3… and 50p paints might well encourage some new modellers to take up the hobby.
@@ModelMinutes from what I understand even today with the high prices of oil the cardboard and printing costs exceed the cost of the plastic in the box. Although I don’t think that takes account of tooling costs so that’s probably only true for the reissues.
@@CycolacFan let’s not forget that the decals are made by cartograph and Airfix pays a premium for them, which means quite often the decals cost just as much as the plastic parts in the box
Seems Airfix part away with painting arts box and gone with computer arts. I love traditional aviation arts by the way and sad to see it ended by Airfix. Please this my opinion only.

Problem is I get emotionally attached to the models in my stash. That is basically the reason why there is a stash. I couldn't part with them.

I do already have some decalfix which I've used in quite a few builds, it's ok but can be a bit sticky and leave a glossy finish when it dries
