King Ranch, largest ranch in the United States, composed of a group of four tracts of land in southeastern Texas, totaling approximately 825,000 acres (333,800 hectares). Today, King Ranch sprawls across 825,000 acres of South Texas land, an area larger than the state of Rhode Island. As the home of 35,000 cattle and over 200 Quarter Horses, King Ranch is one of the largest ranches in the world today.
Also home to the first quarter horse. Also if they stretched their fence end to end, it would reach to Boston. That was told to me on their tour 20 years ago... good info. Thank you.
I think you need to look outside the US for real size. For example the largest ranch (cattle station) in Australia is 2.428 million ha. And i dare say there are others in other countries that exceed 338000 quite easily.
As I recall in season 3 when Market Equities made the offer to purchase 50,000 ac at $10,000 per acre, the comment was made that this was only 10% of the Yellowstone's land.
That is what I was thinking. They would have jumped at the money, but the show is about as accurate to real life ranching and Montana as If they would have done it on Mars. But still entertaining though,I am only to Season 4 at this point
The Four 6's is huge. But nowhere big enough to say that it spans most of the state. The King Ranch is the size of Rhode Island and is just a fraction of the state. People don't realize how big Texas really is. El Paso, TX is actually closer to California than it is to Houston, TX. Read that again and let that sink in. Lol.
October Slotness California from Mexico to Oregon is no joke of a drive either!!! Its 200 miles farther from north to south than the width of Texas is in either direction! And Alaska blows them both out of the water you can put them together and it would still be smaller.

Most ranchers do not just raise livestock. They also make money in many other ways. Many mine minerals and oil/gas/propane. Hunters and visitors rent cabins for money. Making movies on ranch land is not free either. Even Ted Turners ranches have minerals being mined or drilled for money. He also entertained millionaire hunters to hunt for money. He also raised bison to sell at his restaurants.
Couple of things that would help you realize how big the Dutton ranch is. 1. Chief rainwater says in the first season at his goal is to buy back the valley and he thinks it'll take 14 billion. 2. John Malone is the largest landowner in the US and owns over 2.2 million acres, twice the size of Rhode Island 3. Ted Turner is second with 2 million acres
@@berryb745 in the episode with the Japanese tourists John says that he owns from that mountain peak to mountain peak on the other side which to me means the valley. The 2,500-acre Chief Joseph Ranch in Darby, Montana, which doubles as the show's fictional Dutton Ranch, is not only a real-life historic landmark, family homestead and working ranch-but, it's also a guest ranch with cabins available for rental (when the show's not filming, of course)

The true name of 6666 is “four sixes”. Legend has it that the original owner of the real 6666 ranch won it in a poker game in 1900 with a hand of four sixes.
As you drive over Independence Pass, hiway 82 in Colorado, you can stop to take pics of the Dunbar ranch as you come into Aspen. It's on the left with a nice big pull out!
Costner's ranch is more modern, but in my opinion the 'Dutton' ranch is nicer. (simply because it's more rustic). How he can enjoy spending most of his time in Kalifornia is *_WAY BEYOND_* my way of thinking! If I was going to go from Oregon to Mexico? I would rent a boat of even *_SWIM_* just to avoid that crappy state!
Kevin Costner has stayed true to his personal ranch and his beliefs. I respect this man he's very nice in person and believes in God and living the natural way.
That kinda ruins the airport plot for me, lol. They offered 10k per acre for it and they could have made 500 million dollars selling 50k acres when they have 776k total? Absolutely sell that shit.
I thought Kevin Costner's house would look more like the Chief Joseph house very log like and Ranch like rustic I was surprised to see his place I love Kevin Costner
I would take Costner’s ranch in a heart beat !! Now , my message to the announcer , the 4 sixes ranch just barley made the top 10 ranches if Texas . It doesn’t almost take up all of west Texas . And for the last damn time , it’s not in west Texas , it’s in Guthrie which is between Lubbock, Amarillo and Wichita Falls . It’s called the panhandle!!!! It’s advertised as 292,000 acres , the King ranch is 825,000 in south Texas ! There’s no way a 500,000 acre ranch like the Yellowstone could survive with 10 ranch hands and raising only 500 head of cattle . The 4 sixes run 7,500 to 10,000 head at a time plus some million$ stud horses , which makes most of their money . Oh , forgot it’s only tv ! Sorry !
IDK but some farms in australia we call homesteads are measured in 500miles x 700miles to your next neighbor cattle stations remote outback nothing much else there but desert
The King Ranch in South Texas is 825,000 acres. It's a little larger than the State of Rhode Island, that comparison is frequently made, and doubtless why that line was in the script.
During one episode; one of the villains made an offer of $500 million and one actor said that came to $4000 per acre. So yes; they said exactly how much land it was. 125,000 acres. BTW: that’s not even close to being the biggest ranch in the USA 🇺🇸 . King Ranch (in Texas) is currently about 825,000 acres (once it was over 1.25 million acres) consisting of four tracts. It is stated that as of Feb 2022; as being the biggest single ranch in the USA. At one time the King family owned ranches in several other countries as well; amounting to several million acres. Ted Turner who created CNN: owns over 2.2 million acres of land across the United states (not one ranch but MANY ranches). He was the largest private land owner in the USA 🇺🇸 until being surpassed in 2007 by another billionaire. Again a bunch of ranches all over the country.
You gota roll the king and Kennedy in to one it was the same business partners owned both of em.. kit to mention they stole farms and killed for that land
Three times they mention the Yellowstone at 500,000 acres , in reality the King Joseph ranch is only 2,500 acres ! Still beats hell out of my 1 acre lol
But when you listen to the story, John Dutton isn't as rich as Costner. I was advised to watch this from day 1. I only started about a month ago. I'm SO glad I started. Even more glad I waited. As I binge watched all seasons up to date in about 2 weeks
All the ranches are beautiful. I'm just guessing but my guess is that Kevin Costner's is the most luxurious & modern of them all. Especially if it's renting for $3,600. a night. Only people with plenty of money, can afford to stay in a place that expensive.
It makes me sad Kevin spends so little time at the Dunbar. My sister was a classmate of his and didn’t realize they were the same person until her reunion. Hahaha!!!
wow nice ranch mr costner /i wish you could see my land in the mountains you can see forever my friend take care /i would love to visit your ranch and work on it help while there on visit awesome
That’s just the “upper pasture” where they want to build the airport. He wouldn’t sell so the land was condemned and they used the law of imminent domain to seize it. Jamie approved it.
Dunbar ranch has to be well north of 100 million since it is right outside of Aspen on the way up Independence Pass. That is pricey, but there are certainly more expensive.
I really like the Look of the dutton Ranch in the show. But is it only me thinking that the buildings of the ranch are way to small for the size of the ranch?
Costner’s ‘Dunbar Ranch’….wonder if that was the original name or he renamed it, since his character’s last name in Dances with Wolves was name Sargent Dunbar. Many West Texan ranchers don’t compare their ranch size by acres, they use square miles for the size.

Assuming that price per acre is maintained across all 750,000 acres you're looking at a cool $7.5 BILLION for the fictional ranch..
The real Dutton Ranch is 2,500 acres
Great info about the history of this ranch. What we see is beautiful! Dunbar ranch is wow beautiful... thanks for showing them all. Money has its benefits!
I wish the narrator had gotten it right! Chief Joseph NEVER owned this ranch!
Everyone getting all worked up like it's real. Yellowstone is a awesome story someone made up. I can't wait for the next season. I started season 4 after I got home form work Friday evening, watched the the full season before going back to work Monday morning. looks like the spinoffs are going to be good as well. Looking forward to seeing what comes next.
Who cares shut the fuck up...Stay Safe
I love our Dear John... We still have ours, it's safe!
Kevin, why didn’t you try to get Blake Shelton on this series. He’s a real singing, handsome cowboy. His fans would love to see him on this or similar series. Thanks❤😊
👆👆👆 Text me on tele_gram, you’ve been selected.
Wow, what a home. I could live there till I die Kevin
The true name of 6666 is “four sixes”. Legend has it that the original owner of the real 6666 ranch won it in a poker game in 1900 with a hand of four sixes.
Wow!!!
Good work on this video. No trick thumbnails no misleading title. Utube not gonna like all that honesty 😂
Title is fine but the info in the video is very wrong lol Texans are cringing at the stats mentioned
Too bad most of what the video says is false!!
Costner has had that ranch in Colorado for years. Long before Yellowstone. Also it’s in Aspen. His ranch is insanely more expensive.
Kevin's ranch the best
As you drive over Independence Pass, hiway 82 in Colorado, you can stop to take pics of the Dunbar ranch as you come into Aspen.
It's on the left with a nice big pull out!
Costner's ranch is more modern, but in my opinion the 'Dutton' ranch is nicer. (simply because it's more rustic).
How he can enjoy spending most of his time in Kalifornia is *_WAY BEYOND_* my way of thinking!
If I was going to go from Oregon to Mexico? I would rent a boat of even *_SWIM_* just to avoid that crappy state!
I would love to own anyone of them if I hit the Lottery 🤔🇺🇸 GOD BLESS AMERICA 🇺🇸🗽💪
Any One! Beautiful!
Love the ranch!!! I could ride for days there!!! Plus, I love and enjoy ranching!!!!
My favorite part of this video is all of the Field of Dreams clips.
Kevin Costner has stayed true to his personal ranch and his beliefs. I respect this man he's very nice in person and believes in God and living the natural way.
The fictional Yellowstone Dutton Ranch is quoted in the series as being about the size of Rhode Island,..which is about 776,900 acres.
That kinda ruins the airport plot for me, lol. They offered 10k per acre for it and they could have made 500 million dollars selling 50k acres when they have 776k total?
Absolutely sell that shit.
I’d love to visit the Costner’s Dumb Bear ranch. Looks beautiful.
It’s not Dumb Bear. It’s Dunbar.
LOVE COLORADO!!! where I would also dream of building a ranch someday!!
I thought Kevin Costner's house would look more like the Chief Joseph house very log like and Ranch like rustic I was surprised to see his place I love Kevin Costner
Either one would be great but I do love the mountains
they are both very unique ranches.
Watched half of first episode, headed for the bathroom to thow up, havent watched it since.
Very good for him. God bless him.
The four 6's ranch is big but not as big most of Texas. Please don't mislead people with that statement.
Thank You for correcting on how to say the "Four 6's Ranch"
@@carrieellapeters9966 exactly!
I know--smh
At it's peak, the King ranch was over 15 million acres.
i flipping wish i had a huge pice of land
The ranch is called the four sixes ranch.
Sorry !
Yep and Yep
Check out the XIT ranch, I think you'll find it to be a at the top oof the heap. In it's hayday it covered most all of the Texas panhandle.
I loved the comment Costner made they want people to come and live in Montana not just buy vacation property. Like Ted Turner and a big rap singer
kevin was living in a ranch way before this series!! He was in some documentary talking about ranch life back then!
IDK but some farms in australia we call homesteads are measured in 500miles x 700miles to your next neighbor
cattle stations remote outback nothing much else there but desert
Gorgeous Costner digs. For $36,000/nite, Costner better put in a personal visit to welcome the well heeled.
You do not call the Texas ranch 6666 you say The Four Sixes
I like the cabins more than I like the main house I like the Yellowstone house a lot better and I love Kevin Costner
I'm not surprised!
1883, the prequel to Yellowstone is the best series ever.
The King Ranch in South Texas is 825,000 acres. It's a little larger than the State of Rhode Island, that comparison is frequently made, and doubtless why that line was in the script.
Disappointed 1883 is not shown on regular Paramount. Just Paramount-Plus.
I don't think 125k acres was for the whole yellowstone ranch though it was just for the airport .
thats for just the airport land
How does Bill Gates measure up? I hear ranch and farmland is his next “Monsanto,”
You gota roll the king and Kennedy in to one it was the same business partners owned both of em.. kit to mention they stole farms and killed for that land
2500 acres is small. My horses are on Tejon ranch, the largest ranch in California. Its 270 thousand acres and is traded on the NASDAC.
love the shows👊👊..
Yellowstone is filmed in Utah. Or at least it says that at the end of every show in the credits
three year there 2 seasons in montana
Beautiful and amazing
The Dutton ranch is WAYYYY better then Costners ranch.
Beautiful ranch
In the Dunbar Ranch, if you remember "Dances with wolves" Kevin Costner's character name was "John Dunbar"
There’s no comparison!!!! The Chief Joseph Ranch is by far the better of the two!!!!!
They most certainly did say how big the Dutton ranch supposedly was.
Over 700,000 thousand acres.
Three times they mention the Yellowstone at 500,000 acres , in reality the King Joseph ranch is only 2,500 acres ! Still beats hell out of my 1 acre lol
More vedio like Yellowstone we miss that alot
Costner has had a “ranch” of his own in Montana for decades…
You can catch him and his band at Chico hot springs if your lucky
But when you listen to the story, John Dutton isn't as rich as Costner.
I was advised to watch this from day 1. I only started about a month ago. I'm SO glad I started. Even more glad I waited. As I binge watched all seasons up to date in about 2 weeks
Funny they didn’t mention king ranch 825,000 acres in Texas
Well Costner of course !
All the ranches are beautiful. I'm just guessing but my guess is that Kevin Costner's is the most luxurious & modern of them all. Especially if it's renting for $3,600. a night. Only people with plenty of money, can afford to stay in a place that expensive.
👆👆👆 Text me on tele_gram, you’ve been selected.
I listened to this several times and the narrator says Chief Joseph escorted people across his ranch. He didn't own a ranch!
Im no Costner fan but i think i read he has had his ranch for 20 years
I love them all
It makes me sad Kevin spends so little time at the Dunbar.
My sister was a classmate of his and didn’t realize they were the same person until her reunion. Hahaha!!!
wow nice ranch mr costner /i wish you could see my land in the mountains you can see forever my friend take care /i would love to visit your ranch and work on it help while there on visit awesome
Looks Colorado to me! Nice pad and spread
Damn that would be great to live in the mountains on your own ranch like that. I may get to find out soon if my plas work out.
The Dutton ranch is 50,000 acres. John is offered 500 million dollars or 10,000/acre by the market equities group in one of the episodes.
That’s just the “upper pasture” where they want to build the airport. He wouldn’t sell so the land was condemned and they used the law of imminent domain to seize it. Jamie approved it.
What do you mean Yellowstone "WAS" one of the biggest shows? You mean Yellowstone IS one of the biggest shows, it's not over yet...
Dunbar ranch has to be well north of 100 million since it is right outside of Aspen on the way up Independence Pass. That is pricey, but there are certainly more expensive.
I like the Dunbar ranch.
The ranch is near Montana?
I really like the Look of the dutton Ranch in the show. But is it only me thinking that the buildings of the ranch are way to small for the size of the ranch?
Amazing how when the show came out they put a $1000 more on the renting from the air bnb
Hahahahahha I live in aspen next to his ranch. He has owned it way longer then Yellowstone was a show. Nice vid tho
Costner’s ‘Dunbar Ranch’….wonder if that was the original name or he renamed it, since his character’s last name in Dances with Wolves was name Sargent Dunbar. Many West Texan ranchers don’t compare their ranch size by acres, they use square miles for the size.
