It depends on the situation, but considering this from a logical point of view, the burden of proof is on the proposer first. This means that people may be more skeptical of new ideas at first and rightfully so. The opposition of new ideas isn’t logically correct though because new ideas can be better than old ones. Be skeptical but don’t strictly oppose new ideas at first.

The depression one is kinda sad, because even I’ve felt that. When you’ve been sad all your life, people just expect that. It feels like it’s a normal. When you just recently become sad, people notice and are more inclined to want to help. There’s also some solutions that work for someone that has a normal brain chemistry, but fall flat on people with mental illness. I’ve seen people recover from short term depression then try to impose their recovery onto me. When I explain over and over that it doesn’t work, they become pretty aggressive about it or invalidate your experience. I think that why she’s become apathetic.

It destroys you when you realize that your parents, the people you’re taught to love and look up to, are bad people. I grew up terrified for my wellbeing, never knowing whether or not I would be lectured or hurt. My brain has tried to block it out, but it destroys you. Thankfully, I got out of there, but it hurts me when people think that it’s “cool,” when it’s not. Even when you’re out of there, what you learn and how you’re raised, it sticks with you, and it’s hard to make friends or even keep yourself healthy and alive. I feel bad for those currently in situations like what I had and I hope that anyone in an abusive environment can escape it and find a better place.

that's because people are old and used to their way of doing things, so if they see someone handle things in a different manner, they feel personally attacked and need to defend their stance even tho it doesn't need any defending
That's actually a damn good reason. Old ideas are proven, new ones need to be scrutinized before being accepted.

17:15 it’s not “cool” or “quirky” to have an abusive childhood(I know from experience).
