    Oh, I wish we weren't on opposite coasts.... last century, I flew for 16 yrs with the Markham Indoor Group in Toronto - how I miss those days ...... the 80's and 90's were a fab time for Friday nights when we would fly as long as school was in for the young ....... I still have a few birds in boxes from those times but given a chance at an empty Gym, I'd build new to return to those times.......... keep the content coming, it gives me great memories of friends who have left the planet ........ Thank You !

      Thanks for the comment Ken. Sorry to hear you don't have a place to fly. It seems to be harder and harder these days. We're fortunate to have our site. Actually, coming up on 50 years of tlyng there. I was only 14 years old when I started flying in this gym. I'm proud to be able to run the facility for our club after all these years and hope to keep it going for many more years. Maybe you knew Jack McGillvery?

    How does a town with 35K people produce sooooo many free flight enthusiasts? I live in Oshkosh, WI, the home of the EAA, and we have...5. Great video!

      HA HA. Many of these folks travel some distance. But we've been using the gym for nearly 50 years. It's a popular site. I also try to publicize the flying as much as possible. We have several RC guys that enjoy this activity during the winter.

      OMG I live 3 hours south of Oshkosh...there are other free-flighters??
      I never tried indoor, but I guess I could crash inside as well as outside. What a fantastic array of models and modelers!

    Thank you for filming and sharing your video, John. It was nice to see some great flying and a couple of familiar faces from when I was able to attend Geneseo in the past, which hasn't been for a few years:) It's nice to be a spectator, but I wish that I lived closer and could be a participant. Loved seeing your Sparrowhawk in action!

    I’ve gotta correct the guy with the A-7 at 2:42. It’s a Corsair II not a Crusader. The Crusader is the F-8. Excellent video John!

    John, I really chuckled at the 7:20 mark seeing the half size IMS Starship, as I have one that I built in 1996..still got it. I also see another "single surface scale" plane flying near the beginning of the video. Keep them coming, pleasure to watch.

    • @Watchingthevideos99
      @Watchingthevideos99  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Starship was great to see. I remember looking at the plans. I'm sure Peter will work out the bugs. The single surface model you mention might be my Megow Bellanca. I have a seperate video on that model. The plan is from 1932! Very fun model. I've almost lost it outdoors. Thank you for your comment.

    This is amazing! I do not live too too far in Agawam MA. May start something like this someday more local to me. Maybe next winter my son and I could come check out yours if its open to the public.

      Cool. We have several folks that come visit us from MA as well as Vermont and NH. There is also a small gym they fly near Boston. Our next flying session at Glastonbury is February 12th. We have several families that fly with us.

    I wish I had an auditorium like that where I live to fly models. All is here in Chesterfield, Va. is small High School basket court gymnasiums. No place to fly outside here. I live near the Chesterfield Airport and Government building operations.😪 Great flying, John! Love the models shown flying around.

    • @Watchingthevideos99

      Richard, lots of clubs in the U.S. use a school or church basketball court. Plenty big enough to fly in. In fact many of the flyers in the video also fly in Massachusetts in a very small gym/basketball court with no seating. Other clubs use auditoriums. I was in another club that used a school cafeteria. Plenty of opportunities to fly indoors if you look.

    Incredible flights! I’m seeing what appears to be horizontal stabs with camber on the top surface (like the wing). As a downforce device that offsets and balances forward church, it should perform even better (delay tail stall) if inverted. Case in point the Cessna cardinal. The cardinal horizontal stab was stalling in the flare and dropping the nose at the worst time. We fight this airflow departure in sailing as well. Cheers!

    Ha, reminds me of the tiny Ucontrol model I flew in the school gym in highschool. Tiny, a 12 inch wingspan with a Cox .020 motor.

    I used to drive down from Massachusetts to fly there in the late 70's. Lots of guys from the original FAC flew there IIR. Been out of the hobby since moving to Atlanta in the early 80's.

      @Watchingthevideos99  ปีที่แล้ว

      Still a pretty active group Edward. I started flying there in the mid-70's. There's an indoor group in the Atlanta area if you'd like to get back into the hobby!

      Sorry you didn't like the video Tony. These videos are intended to share the fun we have at the gym rather than the details of each model. We have a great group of talented flyers that have a great time flying indoors. I've gotten a great, positive response with the gym videos. Especially from older modeler who can no longer participate. It brings them back to indoor flying. If you'd like to see more model detail, I invite you to check out a few of my other videos.
