He also believes the ‘hard man’ image spoon fed to him by Russia all his life. I feel sorry for him and anyone who has to work with him. They fired him not just because he is Russian, that was a useful excuse, but they mainly used the situation as a way to get rid of a spoilt child and his delusional enabling bully of a father without losing face and without negatively effecting future sponsorships deals

      Nobody's rushing to fire them though. What about other Russian athletes that are being treated even worse than Mazepin.
      Not rich kids, but kids that worked hard their entire lives to get to the top level, are being denied the chance to compete.
      Must that famous "democracy" i keep hearing about, but don't see anywhere.
      This will set the precedent that you can be fired for anything your country does, whether you agree with it or not.

The Mazepins are more closely linked to the funding of the war in Ukraine than some other athletes who are merely sports competitors. It’s pretty gross of Nikita to make this into a sporting thing 🙄

    Maybe it was best for Nikita to lose his opportunity to drive in Formula One. Honestly, I've always thought that he was a dangerous driver; and that he should have his super license revoked for that reason alone.
    While I do believe that it's not entirely fair for him to lose his position at HAAS, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, I also recognize the logic behind that decision as being sound. Ties were severed for anyone with connections to Putin, including via Russian oligarchs. It didn't help Nikita's position, that his father was very recently seen meeting with Putin.
    In any case, I wish Nikita well in his new venture; and sincerely hope that it can make a difference for anyone who is genuinely wrongfully dismissed from their professional team sport.

    • @declaredjeans7555
      @declaredjeans7555 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's entirely fair. If the people of Ukraine has to suffer for something they can't control, the people of Russia can suffer for what their government and military is doing. They're bombing hospitals and killing kids, ffs!
      He didn't oppose the invasion either. If he had balls and wanted to stay, he should have said that, but it would've been a lie.
      But I agree, he should never have been in F1 in the first place. He wasn't good enough, and proved many times that he was a reckless and dangerous driver.

    • @MindlessMegaLawl
      @MindlessMegaLawl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Underrated comment.
      Yeah, he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but people like to forget that he was on contention for the 2020 F2 title until the last race. That said, yes, his racecraft and overall behavior at the track was very poor, but he did try hard to get better (remember how he almost broke @ brazil post-q interview), and he did improve throughout the season.
      P.S.: Positive comments like this should be more visible; instead, there's all the hate comments with thousands of likes while a positive comment barely scratches the 2 digits on likes (atm) - meme aside, this says a lot about society.

      Thanks! I try to be fair in real life and online. We all have our troubles and obstacles in life. Everyone does; and it's most difficult to overcome them when they're the result of our own actions/inactions.
      Nikita demonstrated that he has more to offer than just racing, when he came up with the idea of a foundation to help others athletes who have been unjustly let go. I can't see into his heart, so I can only wish him well and hope that he's sincere about it.
      I can't say that I believe he's worthy of a super license, though. Despite his finish in F2 2020, I look at his overall consistent performance and antics (both in and off the track). He was a very dangerous driver, performing dangerous & unexpected maneuvers that were clearly intended to intimidate other drivers, or prevent them from passing). He had a penchant for trying to force other cars off the track. Then there's the time in F3 that he punched Callum Ilott, after a practice session. Honestly, if every driver who got blocked by Nikita up and punched him in the face at the end of the session, I think his brain would be so concussed that he would have trouble walking right now... let alone driving an F1 car.
      As I said earlier, maybe this is all for the better. Maybe he'll come out if it benefitting from some healthy introspective self- reassessment. I hope so.

    He may have struggled as a racecar driver but I feel very bad for him. Losing a seat due to a political conflict will never be totally fair.

    This is hilarious. Mazespin lost his seat because daddy couldn’t cash the checks. Mans got washed by Mick in every round he didn’t DNF.

    I actually feel bad for mazepin now, I bet there’s people in Russia who don’t want anything to do with the war & just would like to do fun things, it’s not his fault.
