They were in a Pre-NABBA concert alongside the Motor City Brass Band & Motor City Academy Brass Band (the group I’m in) and my friend & I watched Five Lakes perform this piece and we knew that it would steal the show for the championships.
They won on the basis of a flawless test piece, which was monstrously difficult. The best score in the Own Choice pieces, if my memory is correct, was the Atlantic Brass Band.
Holy smokes-no wonder these guys were the ‘23 NABBA champions. Bravo!
