For someone à who doesn't wear trousers, I have been looking for a video such this, and you delivered a lot of inspiration and insights on how to pair my skirts. Thanks a million.
Helen, I never considered myself a midi skirt wearer, but your vids have inspired me to give them a try! I especially love the Joseph and Whistles skirts! Thanks for explanation about why their silhouettes work well with sneakers, that was very helpful ♥️🙏
Thanks for watching Tara! :) I think I was trying to figure it out myself but once I said it out loud, the whole sneaker/midi skirt thing made sense to me haha. Have a lovely week ahead x
Wow. That was fantastic. I love midi skirts so much. Than you for this video...I learned a lot. Something I never thought about but it just didn't feel right was the heavy bottom of the skirt plus heavy shoes. Now I see it.
Thank you so much for watching Mariana! :) Really really appreciate it. I actually didn't know myself until I was planning to film this video. I tried on a bunch of outfits with sneakers and then figured out that maybe it came down to the shape of the skirt :) Have a lovely week x
The colorblock skirt is fabulous. You can wear it with a fitted short cardigan or t-shirt now and with a cream trenchcoat in autumn and spring. It is an unforgettable garment, keep it.
I love the Lee Matthews skirt - so beautiful! You're right, not the most versatile, but it's so lovely. The smaller my wardrobe gets, the more important it is for me to have things that are truly versatile. I have two turtleneck jumpers I would wear it with in winter - cream cable knit and and beige ribbed. I think I'd also be trying it with a flannel in the same colours in winter and my lace up brown boots. I wouldn't worry so much about being swamped, personally, but we do have very different body shapes. I can also see it with a silk cami or a cropped graphic print tee shirt or, honestly, a simple tube top to let it shine!
The sneaker with a straight skirt vs a voluminous is genius. It’s the beginning of the video and I’m already excited to go style my midis in a new way.
love them all. Shout out to us SKIRTERS! I have a lot of skirts (and dresses) with many pleat midi ones. So versatile and put together or dressed down. Thanks Helen!!
The bias silk skirt is gorgeous. I always style my midi skirts the same way (especially since it's summer all year round where I live), but this video has given me some new ideas!
Thank you for showing different ways to style the midi skirt. I do wear mine out for lunch or work. Waiting for weather in UK to warm up enough for some of my more floaty ones! Still not quite warm enough for me! Love your new blue side split skirt, so flattering. 😊👍
Great tip Helen, especially with us petite girls. I find black knee high boots helps to combat the way knee length skirts can cut us up visually, especially if the skirt is in darker tones as well. Your black vinyl skirt is gorgeous btw, I love the way you have styled it!
Great video❤ happy I found someone with the same obsession with these 7/8 length midi skirts. I love them so much! I only have 3 right now and wear them on repeat. ✨
Been waiting for this video~ I've picked up a few new midi skirts and am so excited to start wearing them now that the weather's warmer. I've never really been a midi skirt perosn beofre, mostly stuck with mini skirts since I'm so short but lately I've been drawn to the midi style, which looks a bit more mature imo.
@@mii-chin143 I think the preferred length of a midi skirt depends on your height and body type, so just because a midi skirt is shorter doesn't mean that it'll look unbalanced on you necessarily
Lumiere your videos makes me so so happy and I really really enjoyed watching your videos so so much you’re looking too beautiful in all outfits and I wish you reach 70K Subscribers very very soon!💖💖🌸
Regarding the Lee Matthews colourblock skirt, I totally understand the volume thing. I own a Tibi midi skirt which I thrifted for a tenth of the retail price ($40!! for Tibi!) which is made of silk faille which is a rather structured fabric, and it's in a rather voluminous bell shape. I've worn it with knee-high boots, a close-fitting sleeveless top, and a cropped blazer with the sleeves scrunched up. I don't know how the last outerwear part would work for you considering that most of your blazers are pretty oversized though, because most of mine are quite tailored and not as long, but I feel like a knit or a button-up with the sleeves rolled/scrunched up would also work. Using a multitude of styling hacks for button-ups might work in your favor--maybe doing a wrap top-style thing with a cami underneath instead of just normally tucking it in, tying it at the waist, tying it and tucking the ends into the hem so the tails aren't sticking out, etc.
Wow!! What a great deal - especially in silk faille as well :) I might try the skirt again with the few fitted jackets I have - who knows it might just work :) Button ups would definitely be a great way to style it - lots of good ideas that I'm going to try asap :) Thank you so much xx
I'm so confused... I always thought that midi skirt hits just below the knee and all of yours look like something I'd consider a maxi or tea length - I personally wouldn't call any of them a midi skirt. They are really beautifull... but way longer than a midi imho c':
I think a midi should be half way between knee and ankle roughly. But because I'm more petite, I think a lot of these skirts hit me a bit lower than the traditional midi :) I actually don't mind because I do prefer the longer length. Thank you so much for watching xxx
A lot of people are calling this length mid-axi, for some reason. I have the same issue as Helene, I’m short, so many midis are just above the ankle on me.

I was just looking at ways to style my midi skirts. Apparently I have this thing with really colorful and printed ones 😂. Was on the hunt for a navy one that has a slim fit but i found it difficult to spot the fit online. That first skirt is so gorgeous ❤️. Ps the white top from cos is not sold out On the EU website 😀. So happy!
Colour and print in midi skirts can be so stunning! :) Oh I'm glad it's still available on the EU site, it's a good little staple. Thank you so much for watching xxx
I have a black knitted review midi skirt. I was thinking of selling it as I thought it might be too thick but I think I’ll try pairing it differently now to refresh it in my wardrobe 😊. I like your Lee skirt but your all white one is similar but more versatile IMO.
I hope you come up with some outfits you love :) I actually think my black one is thicker too, but perfect for Autumn/Winter. I agree re the Lee M skirt, it is actually quite similar, just more dramatic so will probably go back xx
I agree with you in the skirt toward the end. Probably too voluminous for your frame and would sell instead. It seems like a hard piece for most people to pull off honestly!
Regarding the color block skirt, I think it would pair well with a denim shirt or jacket. That said, it looks like something I would admire on others but would never wear myself.
I think a denim shirt would be so good with it :) Totally see what you mean, I feel like I really appreciate this style on others but when it comes to my day to day, it's harder to style . Thanks for watching and have a lovely week ahead xx
I wear the same 2 brown, pleated midi-skirts from uniqlo at least 4/7 days a week. ones a plain brown but with subtle lines design I'm not sure exactly what the name of the pattern is, and the other is a darker brown with red lines similar to the aforementioned. you've probably seen them before. i own others but those 2 are my favs. can't go wrong with a midi. much more freeing than a maxi, mini or medium sized skirt ngl.
This might be a ridiculous question, but any ideas about making midi skirt outfits ... less girly? For some reason, I find fitted knit more bodycon skirts more edgy than more flowy viscose/silk/linen skirts. I also love the "column" look, but that's kind of hard with bigger hips/bum. *shrug*
miss helen, you must be a telepath. 😂 thank you so much for giving endless possibilities to style maxi skirts. 💜 i bought a black and floral patterned uniqlo maxi skirt 2 weeks ago and i can't wait to wear it in many ways.
I love wearing skirts and dresses, from knee-length to maxi, but especially midis. I think it’s hard to beat a bias-cut silk midi, I bought every color Quince has, they are so reasonable, beautiful and comfortable at about 60 USD (no affiliation). I wish they would introduce some lighter colored ones.
Same here! I love the shape of it - I feel like the slit on the side would be very flattering. Also waiting for a perfect colour combination to come out. The red is gorgeous but a little bold for me right now :) Hopefully one comes out in your preferred colour/pattern too! :)
Any other sites that have skirts like the ones shown? Floral, etc.. I’ve gone on the websites you’ve provided and mostly from stories they’re sold out :(
I love midi skirts too. I don't think you should keep the 2 toned one for the reasons you gave...It's not going to be worn enough. I like the reasoning as my closet is way too full of things I just don't wear and I'm trying to change my ways. I have given up on ordering clothes on the internet because I never know what's going to fit, but you do well.
I tend to always do the same combos of an oversized blazer, a denim jacket or some cardigan :) I tend to decide depending on how voluminous the skirt is. Thank you so much for watching xx
I would pass on the two-color skirt, only because I think there is too much fabric for your petite frame. It overwhelms you a bit. As a petite also, I have learned over the years that I just end up not wearing such voluminous skirts. I think if there’s a doubt, it’s a no.
It would be nice if you share more items that are currently available. Video idea: only style with items currently available in your size.. LoL As an old fan I know it would be a challenge for you
Hey Kelly! :) Definitely would be happy to focus more on things that are currently available. Will try to do this in some future lookbook/outfit ideas kind of videos x
Love this as a casual, comfy look instead of sweatpants or leggings. Still soft and comfy but looks so much nicer
