يمكن استخدام القسطرة كعلاج لأنواع معينة من السكتة الدماغية. هناك نوعان رئيسيان من السكتات الدماغية: الإقفارية والنزفية.

Hemorrhagic stroke occurs when a blood vessel in the brain ruptures, causing bleeding in the brain. In some cases, catheterization can be used to control the bleeding. During this procedure, a catheter is inserted through an artery in the groin and guided to the site of the bleeding. A coil or other device can then be inserted through the catheter to block the bleeding vessel.
It's important to note that not all patients with stroke are candidates for catheterization treatment. The decision to use catheterization will depend on factors such as the type of stroke, the location and size of the clot or bleed, and the patient's overall health.
