Nice comprehensive video! Any idea where I can tell my dealership to get all the tools to fix this? They have had my car for 2 weeks and are saying they need a special tool that's apparently not available on the entire Easter half of the USA 😡

    Nice video!
Quick question. If this actuator is not centered, is it possible for the clutch to slip (in this case 2nd gear, 1st is ok)?

Sometimes my 2012 Hyundai Valasta will not go into gear but I only notice it when it seems like the ignition button stays stuck for a minute is it possible the delay in the starting is shutting down the transmission computer that starts the manual clutch

Hi there, it’s possible but you have to do some modifications to fit it in.

Does the complete transmission assembly have to be removed in order to replace the dual clutch? I have 2017 ioniq hybrid

Hey just recently my 2013 Hyundai Veloster has not been catching 1st 3rd or 5th gear. I did my research and found out about the clutch actuators and how they work on the dual clutch transmission… never again buying a DCT vehicle… anyways, I went to a shop ran a diagnostic and they were charging me 7k to “fix the transmission”. No way Im paying that much when thats nearly what I paid for the vehicle less than 10k miles and less than a year ago, I plan on buying the part myself and seeing how much they would charge, but from your professional standpoint, how much should I expect to pay for something like this?

Why not just fix it yourself then? Since it didn't work properly and you don't want to pay, just fix it yourself. It is good for you since you can fix it the next time it goes bad again! Did you see he is not responding to you? It may be because he didn't know how bad is your transmission problem! The only one who know is you and the mechanic who quote 7k to fix it!

My 2016 Dct Veloster randomly pops out of gear taking off in drive mode not in sport mode. Happens from second gear to third.

I have a 2013 Hyundai Veloster that doesn’t want to go in reverse along with even gears (2-4-6). The clutch actuator was replaced and it would only work for an hour and right back to missing gears. Can you help me with this issue? I’m lost with ideas. We don’t have a dealership where I live so I’m on my own along with mechanics that has no idea.

How much did they charge you to replace the clutch actuator

@@ikzuq you could just order it off eBay. Instal it, it really easy. 4 bolts. You’d have to reprogram the actuator though. If that doesn’t work then you’d have to reprogram your ECU. That’s what I did with mines.

Por que se tiene que hacer eso ?

    • @AutomotiveDiagnosis

After replacing the actuator (in case it is not functioning properly), Clutch touch point calibration must be performed, this function will reset the adaptive values in the TCM as the actuator is a brand new one and TCM must be calibrated with that.

Well Hyundai says you cannot rebuild these transmissions I have a 2013 Hyundai Veloster it sounds like the actuators let go cuz it has like a light grinding sound. Cars off the ground and the wheels will turn as soon as you put Force to them they spin the gears I mean. I'm going to have a transmission shop fix it because they said they can do it and Hyundai is full of s***. They want $5,000 for the DCT transmission for the Hyundai Veloster. My insurance company won't let me add insurance to the car to cover that if anything happens to it. I will never ever buy a foreign piece of s*** again. Thank you for this video you have proven it can be done

Wait bro I hope you didnt go and change your full transmission because if the problems is the actuators it wont fix it. Theres two clutch actuators one controlling even gears n the other the odd gears, I seen some dude change his whole tranny and still have the same issue of 1,3 and 5th gear not catching. Do you have any updates on this fix?

@@ikzuq it is still sitting in the back driveway up on blocks. The only thing I can think of doing is getting a used very low miles transmission off of eBay with a guarantee then pay $800 to have the transmission changed. Ballpark figures it's a little pricey. Transmission pricing will be about $1,600. May just claim bankruptcy on the car and get out of it. What do you recommend having transmission rebuilt? While I was driving it just let go going up a hill like the belt snapped on a snowmobile.

@@briandailey7274 Honestly I have no idea what the best thing to do is but rest assure ill figure it out within a reasonable budget, aint no way in hell im paying more than 1.2k for anything, Im going to some shops today later with my dad, Ill be persistent on not changing the transmission and just replacing the actuators because I seen some dude replace a whole ass new transmission and the gears would still not catch cause of the actuators being separate from the transmission. Im nearly done paying for this shitter in less than a year, I barely drove it a couple miles over 10k, (I bought at 87k) and its already fucked like this, I just want to get rid of it. I never heard of claiming bankruptcy on a car nor how it works but Imma do some research on that cause if it helps that would be great, though i wouldnt want a bankruptcy claim on my credit score.

@@ikzuq oh I didn't know who I was responding to this is you the owner of your car. Yes I'm 50 years old and never heard of these type of transmission's. I'm a Chevy guy but driving a Ford and thank God it has saved money. My wife loves that car but I hear nothing but bad s*** about it. You can claim a chapter on a vehicle any judge will determine what you owe. Then we still have a payment with no car. I hope and pray you have good luck with changing whatever you do and I hope to hear about it because my wife has insurance for 6 months on unemployment and that's what we're going to use to buy time. I've heard they can't rebuild them you have to go new blah blah blah but then I see some transmission shops have the ability to change certain parts. Tranny shop I called said I have to bring it down and they will estimate on what's wrong and how much but I don't really want to go that route. Have save no money because of winter being so cold LOL I wish you the best keep in touch. Also the fan switch that cost $200 broke so it doesn't have heat or air conditioning right now cuz the fan motor does work. Common problem I guess.we just refinanced for another five years pay 400 a month in the car doesn't even move LOL good luck brother I was going to crash it but it just stopped in the middle of the road couldn't do anything LOL
