I love capital that can protect capital, I love that it’s replacing labor, I love that it’s not doing anything of value, I love that you are trying to make it look cute when wish you could sell it to the DOD.
99% of all security positions are simply "observe and report." They do not, and can not, both by company policy and legal status do much in the way of physical action against most criminals. As an "observe and report" patroller, this is a perfectly acceptable force multiplier.
@@fireworm91 Add a extra battery and a way of electrifying itself (for a simple shock) and that would be one deterrent for the moment, at least till they find a way around that.
@@lborlet5204I'm getting old, back in the day they were trying to sale cars that could exhaust fire if tampered and they tried cars that could shock people. Probably for best it didn't catch on... maybe where these laws came from 😂
I think this will be the "drone" design/type that will eventually be put to practical use in cities like NYC, for deliveries, security ect. It checks all of the boxes in my opinion. It's main hurdles are cost, regulations, safety. Cheers!
Nicely done! I live in Canada, so I'm curious about its ability to function in very cold, slippery, and snowy conditions. Too bad that your site doesn't list basic Technical Specifications, like minimum and maximum operating temperatures. Anyway, best of luck and success.
One of the perks of being a security officer is being paid to walk around. If my security firm employed these, I'd be out of 1 hour of walking every night.
I can see this being an amazing tool for universities, having a few of these patrolling around could be amazing for the safety of students, can definitely see the application at my Uni, well done Ascento!
Add some anti personnel/riot control gear to it and this thing is the future of security. Maybe even give it a mini drone that can dock and charge either on the bot or the charging station🎉
looks good, though having the spokes not covered will cause some problems in bush areas, having a 360 camera on it will catch anything the main camera might miss.
Ok this needs to be turned into a shop-robot - the kind to bring food from store onto customers awaiting at their house. There are few places on this planet - like Finland where we got that thing going on already, but our's got too small wheels and they get stuck due weather like snow or water - but this thing is clearly capable of handling a bit of terrain. So yea. This thing is clearly a good idea for more than just security.
I'll let others praise the obvious engineering pts. What I like about Ascento's wheeled bipedal robots is how aesthetic the masculine and industrial design is. They never cover up the cool structural pieces or adorn with too much unnecessary plastic curves. but adds just enough flair to cut a confident & well thought out silhouette. Take a nap in the park with this disarming urban goofball but fight crime 70s style at night.
Does the LED serve any purpose if not i would use that area to house more sensors or cameras. I would also change the wheels they use for a more durable type. The bot could be better modded.
Well.. i think its have pros and cons in comparson with robot dogs. like, this design is more agile, fast, and probally less expensive, but in some specifics case the dog model are more suitable because its seems to be more precise and could have a arm attached to reach high places, and climb more types of stairs..
Imaging a criminal that specializes in stealing the security guard😅😅😅.. Theif: If I can't break in, I can get good money for this 😅😅. But then he'll be walking around with a tracking device so he still get caught anywaiz 😅😅
You people are going with the monetization route, making a product generating a revenue now and it's obviously a good decision. Are you also planning on giving your robot arms and a torso to go through doors so that it can patrol the inside of a building?
You can easily have cameras of course, and you can have a strobe light, siren and pepper spray for any jurisdiction. And more robust response like a couple of onboard tasers and paralyzingly darts where allowed by law.
If someone tries to grab it, then the body which can have a conductive mesh built into the skin of the unit can be charged up with a sufficient enough zapping electricity. We do not want to kill the person, we just want them to feel enough shock that they will quickly change their mind about touching the unit.
Looks like a trash can on wheels. I think it could use a smaller retractable 3rd wheel for stability on flat surfaces. Lots of good suggestions and questions in the comments.
This design is way smarter and simpler than boston dynamics spot dog. In a head on comparison, is there anything that spot can do but ascento cannot???
You wont get replaced, people are more likely to try to attack the robot then another human. So the customer will likely want a human of some sort on site. Its just that they wont have to physically leave the SOC to do foot patrols every two hours. But yeah this kind of thing is inevitable. Its why I got out of the security guard biz.
They are adorable and wonderfully unassuming.. Ok, so it needs some little 't-rex' arms mounted on the bottom rear of the main body³ possibly with a Tarsal joint, mantis style, using a low-profile rectangular tube shape. A 360° wrist attached to a 180° right angle at the 'hand'. Standard 'crab-paddle' grabbers, with ability to auto swap with up to two other hand/ tool options (Taser, CO₂ propelled Tranquilizer, Sample Collector, anything 'Dremel' but to scale) stored vertically under the 'chin', the form factor being a kind of 'domino' shape to match the dimensions of the arms. Slap a little solar panel on the top for emergency power in the event of a lost unit, with a few common charge-out ports with adjustable voltage, a two-way satellite comms function would be incredibly helpful in the event of a rescue, to report severity of injuries, gauge mental awareness, etc.. I'm imagining a sort of 'Find-Stabilize-Support' mission similar to the Swiss mountain dogs with the little barrel attached to their collar. Eventually you've got to figure out a high-jump ability, maybe its a one shot CO₂ burst, or a compressed snap-spring passive(?) potential energy mechanism. ooohh, No! I've got it; Grappling Hook. Think about it :D come on.. it would look so freakin' cool, you'd have to figure out the geometry for a mounting position that wouldn't have the poor little thing being dragged unceremoniously up the side of a cliff or wall bouncing and scraping along; A wheels first approach would be preferable. Alright, I'll check back in a week ;P I know you've already got a name, but I kinda' like 'Ambulō' Latin for 'I go walk about.'
If it has auto follow me, iPhone control app, and within iPhone app I can train, create rules.. etc. I’ll buy! Not buying if I can’t do it all on my iPhone.
1) The tire seems like a liability, what avoids someone of just puncturing it with a knife or something? 2) what if someone approaches from behind and just carry the robot? 3) Also this is a completely no go in Latin America. People would just shoot it in the middle "brain" or punch it with a machete.
Oh it would probably have 360 degree super hearing, infrared and motion detection and zoom cameras on it so that no one can sneak up on it. And if someone was going to shoot it from a distance then its bullet proof protected brains will give a radio signal to the owner before it dies, that it has been shot and disabled.
I can see several of these patrolling an area while a human security guard sits in a desk monitoring several monitors to see what they are looking at.
Security Guards: We want work from home.
Ascento: I got this fam!

Not sure this can secure or guard anything.

What countermeasures/features to stop someone from grabbing ascento and tossing it in their vehicle?
the gps nav system would track where it would be broughtand you caould give it a small internal emergancy battery to keep the gps beacon active
