    Your choice of narrator for this video was superb!

    One of the best books written and I really love them all. I've read all of them many times over since I was 12 years old, 63 now.

    Congratulations! You've started something beautiful and evocative. I'm sure your subscribers will hope to see TUMBLER in the Lake District and on Walton Backwaters, too, to keep with the Swallows and Amazons theme. In the meantime, keep posting your lovely picturesque vignettes and know that you have an audience who appreciates the purity of a handsome little boat exploring the narrows, shallows, and quiet, out-of-the-way places. Three Cheers for TUMBLER and her crew!

      Thank you! And yes, there are plans being made for Tumbler to visit more of the S&A locations in 2022. For now though she'll be back on her home river of the Hamble for the winter. There's still much to explore there!

      @@SailingTumbler I hope you take us along on your continued explorations of the Hamble.

    Lovely! I visited the Broads last year in a dinghy from Hunter's Yard. Alas the wind was too strong to allow us through the bridge at Potter! Maybe this year:)

    That was a welcome surprise. I started hiring and sailing Martham boats in 2008 but stopped in 2014 after buying a yacht on the Medway. I'd love to get back on Horsey Mere again. Thank you for posting these videos.

      Horsey is a truly magical place. I felt that as a child, and am even more in love with the Mere as an adult. I feel very lucky to have been able to sail there every now and again.

    Spent many a childhood summer sailing the broads in the 1960/70s - good to see it is still largely in tact - although in those days you could see schools of roach and perch in the water it was so clear. We used to stay at Barton Turf.

      I wish the water was so clear now! A future video may well feature photographs of my parents sailing on the Broads in the 1960s. I’ll take a look at the album and see if I can find any fish :-)

    Brilliant. Great to see you sailing in that area. I know West Somerton and Horsey very well. Quite a challenge to sail from Martham to West Somerton due to the narrowness and the wiggly nature of the river.

      Thank you! I used to sail from Martham to West Somerton as a child in my Optimist occasionally with a trip around Martham Broad (now closed) on the way. Returning to the area after a long time away showed me that nothing much has changed!

    Lovely! I think your "Nutshell" would've been a perfect boat for Titty, when she wanted to slip away by herself for awhile and imagine a story. Maybe she'd come around a bend and there would be Peter Duck on his wherry...

    • @SailingTumbler
      @SailingTumbler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a wonderful thought! I'm certain Titty would love Tumbler. I do wish I had met a Wherry last week but they mostly hide the busy side of Potter Heigham and I restricted myself to the calm and quiet of the extreme Northern Broads. Maybe next year!

      ...I should add that the film Titty (Sophie Neville) is aware of Tumbler's adventures and appears to like them, which I like too :-)

    But no hullaballoos! ;) Tumbler looks like a lovely dinghy to sail - is she as stable as she looks? Do you have any ballast?

    Lovely video. I'm hoping to take my sailing dinghy to the Broads this summer. Is that Martham Ferry you launched from?

    • @SailingTumbler
      @SailingTumbler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually launched somewhere else but I’d recommend giving the Martham boatyard a call. We used to launch our dinghies there 40 years ago and I’ve heard recent reports that they’re still friendly and accommodating to visiting dinghies.

      @@SailingTumbler Thanks very much for the info. I still haven't quite decided whether to base myself in the Martham area or in the Hickling area, in which case I'd probably launch from Whispering Reeds. ATB Paula

      @@paulathomas4944 Both are good :-) If you look closely at 4:15 in the video you’ll see the 4 Whispering Reeds houseboats, still operating after 5 decades (or possibly longer!)

    That's the trouble with the broads now. So overcrowded. You can hardly move for boats. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I might see you on the water.
