Holy sh*t! I’ve been up on the flight deck during operation. Only 2 things missing from this video. The dropping feeling when being shot off and the smell of JP5 burning. I’m sending this video to my dad. He spent a lot of time flying off ships in the MED when he was a sailor.

Damn stumbled on this. Cool I was in VFA-195 we flew the FA-18C. Favorite plane, then see the hull number of CVN-72. That's the USS Abraham Lincoln. I was stationed onboard as well. Thanks, stirred up fond memories.

Quick answers:
Yes I use post processing, I wrote about it in comments to earlier videos, I use just colorization and nothing else, unfortunately openxr doesn't support reshade yet.
Yes it is reverb g1, who is familiar with recording vmvideo from VR knows that the picture is recorded from the mirror on the desktop, and the contrast or colors of the headset displays has nothing to do.
Fps does not go below 55, frame slippage caused by the recording itself, I can not solve this problem.
I share mission later guys, but there is nothing special.

Great video. I just got a 4090 and can run DCS in VR again to a level making it worthwhile.
Looks amazing, with the Varjo there is also dynamic foveated rendering implemented, people claim to have 90 fps in most single player scenario s, with a far better clarity then the g2. The future of VR is bright, it's not even a stretch that VR will be less demanding then 4k monitors with foveated rendering.
Hani I can confirm that is the case with the DFR and Aero, simply outstanding.

Great video buddy enjoyed that. The 4090 and multi-threading really has opened a pandoras box in VR. What it also shows however is just how ahead of their time the Reverb G1 and G2 headsets were at time of release and can still compete today.
I still have my G2 and have been fortunate to have also purchased a Varjo Aero which is incredible especially with the recent dynamic foveated rendering update.
Now all we need are CPU's to catch up as even with 13900k's and 7950x3d's we are still CPU bound.

@Larry On Keys yes I would say it is as the clarity is right across the lenses.
It takes some setting up and tweaking for DCS but when it's dialled in its incredible.

@@Thunderbolt0883 There's a reason Varjo HMDs are used in the military and airline professional simulators. Even the low end (can't really believe I said that here) Varjo HMDs are a universe apart. Also the XR versions tie into the cockpits so you can see the physical cockpit and use your hands for the switches and so on. Different universe, really.

I've got a 4090 also, paired with 13900k to push my G2 and at last, with the MT update I can start and make use of my system in DCS.
Now they just need to make the use of VR. A bit more accessible. Being able to ctrl & tab like in MSFS to jump between VR and flat would be a good start amongst other changes
using vr gloves like diver x will just render controllers and keyboards pretty much useless as long as hand tracking isnt full on point..so you caan easily switch between vr mode and desktop mode in virtual desktop f.e.
@@abcuughklkj the valve index controllers work pretty well so that your fingers can still be free while the controller is still there strapped to your palm.

What VR headset was this recording made from? Maybe there's a VR -> flat recording conversion difference, but the quality of this recording looks like it exceeds the Aero which isn't likely true given the HP Reverb does not have a higher quality.
It's a reverb g1, but now he uses the quest 3.

Impressive. I must say as a vet with a long history of the view of the flight deck shown here, the non-skid on the deck surface makes it look different than this. Not as shiny, even when this wet.

I run ultra settings with the reshade, 2k instead of 4k, do you run anything else? Just vanilla graphics?
I have an issue with zoming in the cockpit in vr ...hitting num 5 center my view but getting closer to the instruments or zoning that I don't know how
There is special zoom for vr in controls: “vr tracker zoom” and “vr tracker spyglass”, default zoom don’t work in vr mode

CVN72 was my ship!! Our secondary office was right above the catapult. The cat is LOUD in person when it hits..

@@brianmacpherson4913 this game pretty much also requires Stick and throttle setups and head tracking of some sort (track IR or vr headset). Looking around even just the cockpit is clunky with keyboard, let alone during a dogfight situation trying to keep track of enemies.

Looks around 30fps - what are your OBS recording settings? Using openxr toolkit? What about in game settings?
Sometimes have framedrops, it's supercarrier with units, but not so much. Yes, openxr, game settings all max except msaa - x2

How does the HP reverb g2 compared to the oculus quest 2? I have the quest 2 and if changing my headset would clear it up more I’d be happy. I have a 3060 but feel my headset is holding me back as my monitors are crystal clear and crisp.

You missed the director’s gesture to raise your launch bar prior to engine spin up. Also it looks like you didn’t set your takeoff trim as to sank a fair amount on launch. Good video!
5:35 That hand sign was for you to return the Launch Bar to the UP position, not to reset your controls. That is the next step before you salute.

They forgot to set takeoff trim too.
There's a specific takeoff trim for carrier, and a specific takeoff trim with that specific carrier trim and your gross weight trim. @@Empinada

How TF did you get such a high framerate in VR? I have an almost identical setup and my FPS varies from 35fps one second and 50 the next. I've tried pixel density, changing in-game settings... nothing seems to get it this good

When recording DCS in VR you can record from mirror displayed on desktop, or use OBS plugin for record from OpenXR.

My reverb is already old, I'm thinking about pico4, but I think my CPU will be a bottle neck while streaming video into a headset, or wait for the pimax crystal🤔

Aside from acknowledging the weight board and wiping out when in tension (plus the shooter signaling for burner), that's about as accurate a representation of a carrier taxi to the CAT and launch sequence as can be coded into software. They even got the troubleshooters right on CAT 3 (and the holdback fittings!). Oh, you forgot the clearing turn and to remain below 500 ft. Sorry, that's nitpicking. The only thing that can't be coded is the smelly farts in the cockpit from the mystery meat they served last night in the dirty-shirt wardroom ! From a long-ago ASTRIKE on that very same carrier (Shall Not Perish). Fly Navy.

@@KuostA A-6E Intruders first (Navy's all-weather, low-level, medium attack platform), and then the Prowler. I miss the flying and am now old enough to have forgotten how much workups and deployments on the carrier sucked. Long-winded way of saying that I just purchased FC3 and have spec'd a joystick but have not pulled the trigger on it yet (no pun intended). Gotta have something that my wife can get me for my summer birthday. And, yes, your video inspired me. Thank you for that. You've got skills.

Yes. Fighter aircraft have air cooling and conditioning systems. In general, they are called as Environmental Conditioning Systems (ECS). Their primary functions (as far as cockpit goes) include:
Cockpit Pressurization
Heating/Cooling/air-conditioning
Windshield anti-fog/anti-ice

VR is not for the faint at heart. Not only the cost of the headsets but the dang system necessary to run them well. The new PIMAX Crystal coming out looks super. But at $1600 and a new $6K PC to run them well, I just don't see me going there.

Vr looks really nice on video, but whenever I try it with my vr it looks like I’m playing in 360p and I can barely read or make out anything that’s not directly in my face. For the moment I much prefer trackir.
Psvr 2 is the best one right now, if u have settings right its pretty close to real minus the 110 fovand very slight notice of pixels which ur brain will forget if u let it, mura can be fixed with high contrast mode and green filter ....and needs to be good graphics like...in the right games that is..like resident evil

Nope, just search for DCS multithreading and you should be able to find a blog from ED with all the instructions.
