I saw his car in person in Daytona usa on the way to Disney world as a surprise stop on the way by my parents got my picture taken in front of the car a moment I'll never forget
There's no other NASCAR moment greater than the 1998 Daytona 500, sure you can think about 1992 Hooters 500, or the 1979 Daytona 500, but the 1998 Daytona 500 is without the doubt the greatest NASCAR moment of all time!!!

The whole story behind it and how it played out is almost hard to believe it went down that way. Edit: and right behind that comes Steve Parks win the following week at Rockingham racing for one of Dales 3 teams. Followed by Kevin Harvick two weeks later winning in Dales car after it being renumbered #29. That was such an emotional 6 months for all of NASCAR Nation at that time.
What made me so overwhelmed with excitement and happiness to the point of tears was knowing how much he wanted this win, how long he waited and how much it meant to Dale. The emotion from the booth to the tribute down pit road! I still feel the same when I watch it now Wow what a wonderful amazing day. What a unique incredible man this racer who touched so many! Still does ... I've said it a thousand times "They are angels and heroes among us. Thanks Dale for being both of those. ❤️🏁🏁🏁
The Oppermans from Texas celebrated the win of our fave with dinner at Outback and steak bites for Sugar Bear and drinks for Jerry and me..Gloria We came back home and drank a nightcap on the deck and gave leftover bites of steak to Sugar Bear. Such a lovely day and night. Thank you Dale Earnhardt Sr..the Oppermans

I was five when this happened. I formerly had a step father who was a HUGE Earnhardt fan, and he and my family were yelling and cheering, and I was too, even though I didn't care for him at the time.
I was at work in a clean room when he finally won. My coworker, who was also a huge Earnhardt fan got a call from his wife on the phone we had on the wall. I knew full well why she was calling. We both asked to be told where he finished. As soon as he said she wouldn't say, we both erupted. Cause there was only one reason she wouldn't tell us. Sadly, all I've been able to see is the replays. I was not able to see him finally friggin win it
Thats why I miss those old cars, you could swap out a rocker and push rod.. and run the big V8 500 miles If the car got beat up or banged you could put a new bumper on hammer the sheet metal, and still have a shot at winning.. Now anything happens to these new cars.. they are just Junk so light and fragile
