    Excellent advice about campfires and being prepared when out in the wilderness! We all must do what we can to preserve these beautiful remote areas. As for the unbuckled seatbelt visible over your shoulder, well... that's another story. Love your videos.

    A marine canvas shop can replace your zipper, additionally they can stitch a protective cover with Velcro. They can work wonders.

    We are moving away from our RTT for exactly this reason. Zippers! So terrible in the dust. We have learned that a quick coating of chapstick makes for a nice smooth open though the next go-around.

    How about a canvas cover for the whole trailer, just for the dusty trails.

    I use spray silicone on my tent zippers. Makes them work effortlessly. And dust doesn't seem to stick to it. Just a suggestion.

    I have wondered how the zipper would work. I have a smittybilt XL and it had Velcro. I imagine it will fail too, but it is replaceable on the tent and you can buy another cover. We’ll see in the long run about the Velcro too.

  • @SimonElenor
    @SimonElenor 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you have a problem with a zipper stop, go grab the air hose and blow out the zip. It will then work fine. All the lubes do is hold the dirt more.

    • @LifestyleOverland
      @LifestyleOverland  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The goal here is product improvement. If it's a common issue, it can be made better. RTTs live in dust, therefore a closure that works without needing extra tools is required.

    • @SimonElenor
      @SimonElenor 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LifestyleOverland I was not saying to not improve. I was just saying to help get the zipper open. I completely agree with sealing the zipper.

    So I am sure you have all the expert advise regarding the zipper issue, I guess I’ll throw my 2 cents in for what it’s worth. Prior to camp set up can you/ have you used your air compressor to blow it out ?

    • @LifestyleOverland
      @LifestyleOverland  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We've done that before, but it shouldn't be necessary to carry an air compressor to open/close a tent 🤣

  • @Malc664
    @Malc664 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do Americans have a name for that thick dust? We in Australia call it bull dust and it gets up to two feet thick up north where the road trains go on dirt roads. It can fill in deep potholes. So airing down is a must.

    Has anyone ever see the statistics for the western US and the leading causes for fire? I would like to know if something I am doing has a fire risk associated with it and if so, how much. You would think this is intuitive, but the more I learn about woodland fires I see that this is not always the case.
