    Opposing sofas would be cool.... put the door on the backend like a truck camper and extend the counter top for more cooking. Or put a pantry where the current door is

      The wrap around rear view is what makes these type trailers, you'd lose that with a rear door.

      That is a cool idea! You’d also have a very long straight run from the door, you could probably stick a kayak in there.

    This unit would absolutely be great for a single nomad. Only drawback for me is under belly not heated or covered.

      As Josh mentioned, this 210QB is basically the same as a 212QB, but with less features. One of those features is the lack of an enclosed and heated under belly. The 212QB has that, along with multiple additional features that many are not aware of. The only problem is that they’re discontinuing the 212QB after this year, so you best get on it if you’re serious about it. I just bought mine after researching the heck out of it for the last year and a half. Honestly, I’ve basically been dreaming about the 212QB and was preparing to buy one next year. Upon learning from Jayco directly, that the 212QB will be dropped this year because they now offer the 210QB for less money, I was sure to secure mine. I love it. No slide trailer that’s big enough without a slide. No slide makes it lighter lacks something else to break or leak. The trailer is overbuilt with the same beefier frame as the over 30’ trailers. Plus, they really under rate the GVWR to 5500lbs even though it has the heavier frame and dual 3500lb axles. The leaf springs are mounted below the axles which makes it ride about 6 inches lower than the longer trailers, so it should allow for better stability on the road and better fuel economy.

    I would take out the dinette, maybe put the fridge on that side, continue the counter to the end, and have a desk area at the end. I like having a sofa double recliner with the detachable swing in table-ettes for eating on....maybe where the fridge is now could be more storage?

    Love this no slide layout! Very similar to some older trailers i've been seeing on marketplace in northern Indiana. I wish they had heated under belly on these, would be great for the shoulder seasons. Also, a neat add would be a bunk over the couch in the back instead of the cupboard. I know my parents old Shasta had a bunk you could fold back up into a cupboard if you took the mattress out.

    I looked at one of these a few weeks ago and liked it enough to go back for a second look! But in the end, I agree with your assessment re; a mid-size truck. The numbers work, but it did "feel" like it was too big to be a comfortable tow in the mountains or in a wind zone. Although the tandem axles would give it a little added stability. Overall, I thought it was a nice unit at a reasonable price with a quality build (the only obvious flaw I found was the hole under the sink/stove area where there was a pipe or wiring (can't remember now) going down through the floor. It was big enough for mice to have a parade through there. An easy fix, but still...I mean, it'd be an easy thing for the manufacturer to fix before they send it out the door, too. LOL! If I was going to change just one thing, I'd turn the bed sideways and shrink it down to a twin because I'm a solo. There's a couple other things I'd change too, but you only asked for one. ;)

    nice review of a very travelable (new word) trailer. No worries without the glass top on the stove, as certainly I would not use that glass as counter top anyway. Not concerned about tires either really. Properly maintained and inflated and those tires will work just fine. Most blowouts are a direct result of under/over inflation for the load or just plain driving way to fast for trailer tires. As always, safe travels......

    We have 2022 212qb version. My husband and I camp in it with three medium sized dogs ( 2x50lb & 1x70lb). I removed the dinette seat closest to the back to make a great place to put a large crate.
    FYI
    I am 5ft 4in and the couch is not comfortable to sleep on because it is too short. It was also too much to pull with a half ton. We had to buy 3/4 ton chevy 2500. My husband was stressed pulling it with a 1500 and he has his CDL.

  • @trcknwolf

    Josh, after watching the video about this camper, which isn't for us BTW, I gotta ask you (which you should ask all the RV builders out there): WHY don't RV mfgr's have the bathroom shower walls go all the way up to the roof line? I know they use prefab wall panels for speed of assembly, but damn man, take them up to the roof line! I believe most buyers would be willing to pay a dollar or two more for complete coverage. What do you think?

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Parts standardization from suppliers. Average trailer sidewall height is 6'6". So that's what most of them build for. This is rare with a 6'9" ceiling so you see that 3" gap at the top

  • @mildmannerededc
    @mildmannerededc ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Thanks for the look Josh!! I'm not sure why there is a trend away from the glass tops on the ranges, that logic is mystifying, especially with counter space at a premium in most RVs. I realize not everybody camps the same, but for me, I wish manufacturers made ovens the option, rather than the standard, and replaced all ranges with the 2 burner "north/south" set up. In most floor plans that third burner is almost always unusable if the other two are in use and it would free up a good chuck of countertop. Sorry for the mild rant. Lol.

    We own a 2021 212QB and it’s sad to see that what set it apart from the others in its category have been basically washed away. You always had a saying that with all the added things at a solid price that it was Jayco doing Jayco things and now they have gotten rid of most of what set this apart like the ladder, jaysmart lighting and Goodyear tires. We use the glass stove cover all the time there is no spot with the current stove to put a coffee pot unless you use the table.

    What you said was perfect. This is a camper for camping, not glamping. It's that place off the ground to sleep (esp for those of us that can no longer get down, only fall down. And while get up is easier, it sure ain't pretty!) It's a nice, basic camper, great for solo.
    There are 2 changes I would like to see. 1st, the kitchen. Small kitchens need a 2 burner stove with no oven. 2-3" of counter is not big enough to chop an onion.
    Is there a reason no one has come up with a large wet bath? That is such a tight space yet if they changed it into a wet bath it would have much more room.

    Beef up the axles to increase the cargo capacity, slide the kitchen forward and move the door between the dinette & kitchen, or a full u-dinette in the rear.

  • @brentrichardson2573
    @brentrichardson2573 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    We had an open range trailer with this same layout. We bought it because we wanted something smaller, lighter and closer to the ground (my wife has a bad back) and simplify our camping experience. It's just the two of us so a trailer like this is perfect. It was easy to with a half ton pick up. And heating and cooling was excellent. However, the bathroom was an issue. The toilet space was way too tight for us and the shower space was just too narrow, and we are not big people. And once we added a small dog to the mix this trailer became just too small for us. Just trying to pass each other through the small hallway was a chore. Ultimately we ended up going back to something bigger just so we could have more interior space.

I like the new countertops and lighter decor in this one. We've never bohered with a TV since our laptops and streaming work just fine; ansent that, there are old fashioned things called books available. Jayco's 212 or 210 are our top pick for a small, slidless, lightweight couples trailer.

    You asked for one thing I’d change, I have 2, sorry.
    1) get rid of bathroom sink, put toilet with plenty of room a Sasquatch size man would be comfortable
    2) nobody needs that huge kitchen sink with no prep area when you only have 50 gallons fresh water. A double bowl sink sells to the lady shoppers, but reality is paper plates go in the trash, not in the sink. It’s for camping not for doing dishes
    Everything else makes this the best rear dinette model on the market. I’ll buy one next year or so, but will see if I can special order my 2 changes

    Overall a great camper. I am very disappointed that Jayco stopped using Goodyear tires, I feel as that was a huge selling point that they came with great tires from the factory. I am also disappointed that the JAY SMART system is not available on SLX, that is an incredible safety feature. I really do not like that they don't have an enclosed underbelly as compared to previous model years. I do not like that there is no cover over the stove, it really lacks on counter space. It still saves the dinette for us to eat and prep at without moving my sleeping arrangements too much. I like not having a bunk, which is just awful for an adult, and the split “bedrooms” give us the space at night. I just hope that my Tacoma could handle it. 6,800 tow rating.

      @@Gladfulspirit I’m not too worried about about the length of the couch. I had to sleep on a narrow dinette bed in a FEMA TT for 8 months after the Camp Fire. If I can survive that, I can survive it for a few weeks a year. Lol. I’m also 5’4”, and I tend to curl up when I sleep. I will not get this TT though, I think you’re right, it’s too much trailer for my Tacoma. I’m still looking for the perfect TT…

    I really like this trailer. The floor plan is excellent. The bathroom is great i do not like the wet bath option. The separation of the bedroom and sitting area that the bathroom creates is great. I do like a door to the bedroom but in this I believe the curtain would work. The only downside is that the underbelly is not enclosed or heated. Maybe a little spray foam would work. Love the solar package a must have. As far as the countertop issue maybe a small wall mounted tray of some sort would work? Also the fact that you can get extra sleeping area out of the sofa and dinette makes it work for the grandkids. I will definitely keep this one on my short list. Thanks Josh really like the videos you make me laugh sometimes and that's a good thing. Plus I have been learning a lot about RV's Thanks to you.

    The lay out isn't bad but many of these all just look the same and always have the TV in the most awkward kink in the neck places. If i were to build it I would keep the couch on the wall but make it into a sectional type sofa so that it ran the entire back wall as well as the right wall. Then remove the dinette table, and where the other dinette bench is ( closest to the kitchen) remove that bench and make a wall that goes straight up. So now when you walk in you see the kitchen with a wall that goes straight up to the ceiling. And on the back side of that wall (where the bench was up against the sink) thats where the TV and fire place would sit in a catty corner style fashion. So that everyone along the back wall would be able to sit comfortably and watch TV and enjoy a small electric fireplace.

      Towing wise you're in the black but a challenge with short wheelbase vehicles is they are pushed around more easily. I think you can pull it but I'm not sure how well it will be controlled behind you if that makes sense

Such as, mine has a rock/road debris guard in front of the outside propane connection; the glass top to the stove; the ladder, sink covers, tv already mounted, JaySmart exterior lighting, enclosed underbelly, porcelain toilet, medicine cabinet plus more. Seems like the 210QB is a stripped down version of the older 212QB; but we did fully option our 212 with the "W" West Coast Rocky Mountain Package and Baja Package which increased the cost.
