      Thanks. Much respect to your uncle! A lot of sacrifice! Both my grandads were pilots. One flew Whitley bombers and the other flew swordfish torpedo biplanes. But they both had jobs delivering spitfires and hurricanes to various places after the war. Both said the spit was the best plane they ever flew. 👌

      Thanks, Will! Long days and crazy render times for this one. I tend to write the histories and create the animations a few weeks before the aircraft are released. Then pop the footage in after I've flown it for at least a few hours. I've seen so many addons now its a pleasure to see something like this spitfire that is just so good. It made me realize how good models can be in MSFS.

    Beautiful video and very nicely told! I got the Spitfire immediately on release and have been flying it around England since. Oh and one hint, you can open the canopy in flight and look around the nose on landing! Feels absolutely amazing when using head-tracking, probably even better in VR.

    Great video! I bought this plane on Friday and spent quite a bit of hours with it. It is absolutely beautiful. Although handling while taking off and landing is a handful. My only real Con for this plane is that I could not stall it for the life of me. Actually let me rephrase. I could stall it at low speed, but I could not put it into any sort of accelerated stall. I'm really looking forward to the updates to come on this one. You gotta love that engine sound also! I usually fly with the canopy open so I get the full roar.

    • @untitledprojects85
      @untitledprojects85  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah its just a great plane all round and i agree that the sounds are spot on! But i also agree its hard to force a stall. I did manage to induce a flat spin on a tight turn but could'nt do it again. Near impossible to get out of it at low alt. More flying to come!

    Assuming wind is right down the runway.. I would say a load of left aileron so that adverse yaw is a help. Otherwise aileron to wind.

    • @untitledprojects85
      @untitledprojects85  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't comment on IL2 since I haven't played it for a while but i know the DCS one is pretty different in terms of the shudder you get on the edge of a tight turn and then the subsequent flat spin. The MSFS one is much smoother and is pretty hard to force a stall like that. But I'm guessing that's down to the different dynamics in the two games. For instance, if I was in the wake of another aircraft in DCS the Spit is almost impossible to control but I guess that's realistic? All in all, I think they both seem to have the realism they need for either shooting down a ME109 in DCS or cruising from Duxford to Southampton in MSFS. Personally, I prefer the MSFS version (The Sound is amazing) and it's a joy to fly.

  • @MFBlueFly
    @MFBlueFly 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can't control this plane on the ground, it's a complete pain, what settings do you have on sensitivity for your rudder pedals, assuming you're using pedals? I have flown the A2A version in FSX which is far more controllable, don't get me wrong I think this is an excellent plane but I don't think the ground handling or take off are realistic, if I give full right rudder like you said I will go right at 45 degrees, I have trimmed for right rudder and on take off still pull left, it's basically all over the place, tipping over spinning out of control etc. I don't see any videos on line of the real plane behaving this erratically. Once in the air I'm good and I can land it pretty good too but that take off run is ridiculous. Great video BTW.

    • @untitledprojects85
      @untitledprojects85  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear that. Loads of people have given me different tips on how to take off. You have to take into account the wind as well. If you're straight into the wind it's not as bad but if it's anywhere else it's a lot more difficult. Check and the windsock and make an assessment on the rudder amount. The nack is catching the merlin with the rudder just before it flings you to the left. I gently press the right rudder (10%+) as I slowly increase the throttle drifting slightly to the right. when the tail lifts and as she starts to head left I put on a lot more right rudder (maybe 70%+ depending on the wind) and I don't touch the left. You'll need a bit of aileron too so the wing doesn't tip to the left and strike the runway. All I can say is practice and you get a feel for it. It's a real bitch on the ground. Hope that helps.

    • @MFBlueFly
      @MFBlueFly 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just an update, while I still feel this is too sensitive, especially the latest release, I have managed a couple of fairly well controlled take offs, to do this I had to set the rudder bias to full right rudder, then gradually increase throttle and eventually as the tail lifted I had to do an Irish dance on the rudder pedals and some aileron conducting with the joystick to stay on the run way and not tip over, so it's getting there. Landing's are not a problem, usually I can get it down and control it all the way to the hangers. So I'll keep on practicing and hopefully I might get a decent take off at some point. Thanks for your help, it certainly did help.

      @@MFBlueFly Glad it's working out. I've done some terrible ones! But once it begins t work out it's a lovely experience. I actually crashed about 10 times before I managed a solid take-off. Buried the nose, tipped the wing and ground looped. I agree I think it's a little sensitive at the moment but I like the realism. I actually read this article from real spitfire pilots from ww2. It got some great tips: www.key.aero/forum/historic-aviation/74484-supermarine-spitfire-take-off-and-landing-guide

    Why would you move the throttle to get to the battery, just move the camera slightly down, then reset it.

    I got this.I like the look of this Very detailed but that's about it for me.I just can't get a decent flight out of it.on take off it just want's to climb.A lot of trouble to try and get the nose down.Trim really doesn't work.Bounces all over the place.I have never got it to fly as steady as you have here and i just can't land it.Too bouncy and all over the place.Don't have that with any other aircraft in MSFS.

    • @untitledprojects85
      @untitledprojects85  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      True trim is an issue with this at the moment. That's why it's a bit of a battle to get level flight. Just takes a bit of getting used to. Then as soon as it fly another aircraft I over trim it! Hopefully an update will sort this out.

  • @einherz
    @einherz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    i'm obviously not the best lander, but in this spitfire first landing i didn't notice it, so after landing two second i stay thinkong i flight yet, i think there very very simple flight model, i just know spitfire not the best lander so m i, and this wasn't accident like lucky trimming, i had 100% fuell... and this loop is absolutely not right, it's radius of loop lower than fokker dr1... so i think this is very nice spitfire, but many wrong stuff in there

    Doesn't stink like a real one.
    Your room should be filled with toxic gaz and your feet roast like two steaks : I didn't feel that at all.
    So for me, this FS2020 S. F. is misleading in term of realism. It's just a very nice drawing in front of your face. Can't be OK.
