- Here's the continuation of our efforts to get a water well punched by hand at our off grid property in the UP of Michigan. In this episode, we replace the faulty leathers that came with our new pump which was keeping the pump from drawing the water up. We enjoy an amazing breakfast in our wall tent and roast a few brats over the fire. Good times!

Ya, me too. I remember mom my lite it and the flame 🔥 was like a foot high. She was freaking out calling for my dad. Lol.
Lighting those old liquid-fueled Coleman stoves and lanterns is becoming a lost art. It's hard to beat the old Coleman stoves for high heat output after 60 - 80 pumps! (Also, the breakfast segment here was some epic food porn !)

A gift from God...
That feeling of success as you pump the handle, feel the weight of water coming from underground. Then spilling from the pump, each stoke the water gets clearer and clearer! Makes one feel more independent with every gallon pumped. My Off grid tiny cabin well is 25 years old now. pounded through 8 foot layer of clay about 12 foot below sand, then water galore.

Next build should be a Sauna! A place to heat up all that beautiful water, so you can wash up after a hard days work in the woods! (Also usable for storage of things till you get back there the next time! I’ve loved all the videos of this adventure! Oh, and congratulations again on the 100K!

I am so happy the new leather worked!! I’d love the superior filtered water!!!! So excited for you and congrats on your number count last week (?) I love your videos and hutzpah! You’re hilarious. I grew up in Wisconsin, lived in Alaska and worked as a kayak ranger in SE AK, moved to Nc and raised kids. We visited AK for 6 weeks every other summer. So wonderful on our camping trips! Looking to hit road soon (all kids have grown up) but I want a place to land a few months out of the year. I’ve decided where I want to go. I’m looking for tiny land in Ak and tiny wild ass place in UP - found 1 acre on rice lake but it’s not wild enough (or far enough from others)! Would LOVE to know how you went about finding your land in UP! I want NO power and would love to create a chill place like yours with access to trails and/or chance to get in lake to get to trails. Love love love boundary waters too. Let me know of some places you considered ok? You’ve got to be sooooo proud of yourselves!
Thanx Brooke, you made me appreciate my well even more, seeing the effort it actually takes to get it from the ground. The taste of clean, cold water is just the best.. My well is digged out for maybe 100 years ago, and still works as a charm! Even when we have droughts, and i am so very thankful for that.. Water for me, my cat Steven and my veggies! 🤗

Always glad to see folks demonstrating their faith. Enjoy both of your channels greatly. The pump looks like it can be mounted on something like a cabinet or box that might help to stabilize it more when pumping. Maybe even just a post in the ground would help.

I just got back from camping with my 3 little grandkids. I live in White Mnts. NH. We camped along what we locals call "the kanc". What a great time! I hadn't seen them for 4 months as my daughter is an ICU nurse in Boston. They quarantined for 2 weeks as did I.
I love your channel and as I have been recovering from kidney abscess and awaiting surgery to remove it...it psyched me up for this camping trip.
You two are awesome...I love the work ethic...congrats on your subs!!!! You deserve it!!

Veggies and spirits. You can filter and distill small quantities for specific endeavors. The World is alive and well. Some people arent... 🍻
Nice it’s in a sand aquifer high permeability seems like draw down does not affect your well for your needs

My dad who was 88 when he passed away this year said if you put a swamp frog in the well and it lives after 2 weeks the water is good. He build houses for a living and in the old days he dug the wells himself. Old New Englander! He tested the water at our homestead that way and it was The Best!
