This game is actually based off a 1997 cartoon called "Space Goofs". This game was fully developed by Xilam Animation (the same studio that made the original series), and is dedicated to the creator of Space Goofs, Jean-Yves Raimbaud. Stupid Invaders was originally conceived as the ending of Space Goofs. However, the show got a second season in the year 2005 (5 years after the game's release). So it's kinda like the original SpongeBob movie in a way.
