Glad to help. It costs too much to buy another module (even used) so I bought a parts engine and switched this old girl back to points ignition. Thankfully the provisions for the old style was till intact on this engine. Check it out, it might save you some money in the long run. th-cam.com/video/ujBuVynRGeM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=e4JoXvt3Q-yWZk2I Thanks for stopping by. Among friends, we were discussing all the ways to make a small cart move. One old lady told how a village milkman used a goat to pull the small milk cart, with fuel prices being what they are, maybe we should be looking at alternatives like that. With a goat, you don't need a lawnmower...
I would need a couple of goats at least to keep my yard under control, but then the issue for me becomes keeping them safe from wandering varmints. We kept goats in our younger years and enjoyed them very much. With the wars and rumors of wars the impending future doesn't look very bright, but aside from the nuclear threats, our plight isn't much different than other generations, including that generation that spawned us. Blessings of the Resurrection my friend.
You have us pretty intrigued. The teeth on the flywheel show weird wear,so I'm guessing you'll adjust the started position after you get the coil.?.The stator is caked pretty badly,so a can of 'Brake-Cleaner' will add a few $ but well worth it.I couldn't even see a pick-up spot in the flywheel.
There are lots of issues evident on this motor, with more than a couple oil leaks visible. I'll take it one step at a time in addressing these problems. Thanks Bry
Hello George, hope you can get the parts you need and not to much $ to spend, thanks for the video, looks like she was running a little rich, thanks George
Thanks so much for stopping by. Hopefully the new coil will be here this week and solve our spark issue. Yes, it was running rich, but that's better than being oil soaked.
I am thinking it may be as "new" as 2000 because of some markings on the timing case. Investigation under way. Thanks Don. Blessings of the Resurrection to you and your family.
@@TheShadeTreeFixitMan I would send it to ya brother George but the shipping would be more than a new one .. the train set I sent was easy metal is hard to ship .. bless you in you projects and missions !
I repaired an Onan engine for my friend. It had a bad coil. A new one was $175. My brother brought me a junk Cub Cadet with the same engine. I robbed the coil and save my friend a stack of dough.
I have been looking for another engine for parts or even to use this one for parts for another. Finding them on the cheap is a rarity. Thanks for stopping by Ron. Blessings of the Resurrection to you and your family.
It is electronic ignition, using the pickup you saw me remove that triggers the coil. In this case I hope a new coil will remedy the situation. Thanks for stopping by.
They can be had on eBay, but I'm not going to put $100 into a coil pickup at this point for a used one! I'll keep looking and in the meantime I found an 18hp B&S opposed twin. Thanks for stopping by. Does your friend sell used parts?
Not yet, but hold onto your hat because I am doing a retrofit of points ignition onto this motor to get some spark. Before the weekend it should be running? Thanks for stopping by

George, great video. First one to show the ignition module location. Even parts book does not show the location. Thank you.

This Onan is going to be challenge. Just what you needed this time. Good luck with the engine and tire machine you working on too
Thanks so much Lloyd. Blessings of the Resurrection to you.
Looks like a fun project George. Hope you can get it working for not too much money. :)
Thank you Doug, "not too much money" is the idea. Blessings of the Resurrection.

Judging by the plugs, it looks like it was running a little rich. Hope the project works out George. Happy Easter!
Thank you Matt. Blessings of the Resurrection to you.
Everything is getting expensive. Hope you had a great Easter.
Thank you Terry. May the blessings of the Resurrection be yours today and every day.
Nice that you took the opportunity to preach a little.
Simple truth with simple reasoning. Thanks for the encouragement.

I bet it runs when your done there George ! wish I were closer I have 2 tire changers and I only use 1 of them..

@@TheShadeTreeFixitMan Nice video. I have a 316 with a Onan B43 that needs some work.
I diont have a lot ofOnan experience. But remember they have automotive type ignition.. no magneto for spark.

Apposed cyl engine stange engine have that in toro i got
They are strange engines in many ways. Thanks for stopping by, Don.
The ignition parts are hard to acquire from a reliable source. I have a contact in hastings mn that provides good parts.
