Although trailing its rivals in every respect from performance to economy, interior space to the quality of its cabin materials, the second generation Kuga is not without appeal. It’s smartly styled, generously equipped, brisk enough for family motoring, and decently refined. And it handles well, which you may appreciate when you find yourself on an interesting back road and minus any passengers.
It has sold in reasonable numbers so there’s plenty of choice on the secondhand market, although there’s a slightly bewildering number of trim, engine and transmission variations: make sure the dealer explains precisely which model you’re looking at, and what you’re getting in it.
Whilst not a front-runner in its class, if you like the way the Kuga looks then you’re unlikely to be disappointed by the ownership experience - but do check that any recalls have been carried out on the car you’re thinking of buying.

If you want a good all rounder mid size car with comfort and enough space for 2 adults.. Kuga is perfect space wise.. but choose your engine wisely.. small petrol engines will not be so economical due to weight. Min 1.5 diesel. If you need a larger car.. next up go for VW Tiguan or newer vaiants of Tiguan or Honda CRV. If you need larger than this consider Kia Sorento or Skoda Kodiak. When considering any car always consider rear passenger space and boot space with the seats up.. this is relevant if carrying 4 or 5 passengers.

My 2ltr kuga 2015 love it no issues tows tourer all over Scotland with ease have a maker service every 12 months so reliable

I have a 2016 Kuga TiTx AWD 2L PSA diesel DW10FC 178hp Euro6 compliant engine. It has by far better suspension than a Qashqai. It has over 350Nm torque just above 1500rpm and 400Nm at 2k rpm so never needs revving above 2.5k. It climbs hills with absolute ease like they are not there. Great to drive and returns min 38mpg. Has no Satnav but my Garmin is far better than most in- car Satnavs any way. Don't let stupid things like satnavs and in car entertainment bollox affect your choice of car.

My used Kuga was full of issues. Radiator leaks, coolant issues that then led on to head gasket issues at 18k miles. Got rid of it.

how mad, I bought this car 4 years ago and it was nothing but trouble. We actually went to view another car that had front end damage to it that was hidden behind the bumper. The Kuga we bought, the one in the video, was plagued with faults. First day it locked the keys inside (not keyless entry) when I shut the door, the car locked itself with the keys inside. I found countless bad wiring repairs throughout the vehicle. The previous car we had viewed had clearly had a hard working life. These are cheap cars repaired badly and then sold cheaply by this dealer who appears to buy them at auction as per the paperwork we had.

as long as you avoid the old Powershift auto's you should be fine, though the top petrol performance engine (182bhp), is auto only in UK/EU. Of course Magnetic colour doesn't hurt either 😎

Not any real mention of the extremely broken gearbox type being used in the automatic models before the 2016 facelift… Hard to call it a proper review and more like a sales pitch for the dealership.

It's the Escape here in the US. I don't like the styling of that version that much. The 1.6 is garbage. Thankfully they got rid of those . I have the 1.5 and its adequate.
