And don't forget about the inside area of the boat. It is a good idea to spread dryer sheets around the inside to keep the mice out of the cushions. To keep the moisture down, I use two five gallon paint buckets with lids. I cut around the lids about two inches in from all sides and then use a 5 gallon paint strainer cloth to put down into the buckets . I snap the lids back on and that keeps the strainer in place. You want the bottom of the strainer up from the bottom about 3 inches. I then fill the strainer or cloth then with Dri Z Air pellets you can buy by the gallon at the hardware store. Each bucket gets a 1/4 of the gallon and then i place the buckets under the tarp one in the front of the boat another at the back and then around Jan 1 I pour out the collected water at the bottom of the buckets and replace the pellets. Helps keep the moisture out of your stereo system.

Good points you bring up! Maybe I'll have to do a part 3 sometime! Lol. I haven't had a problem with mice ever though. I have a cat that does a pretty good job in the yard

    Predicts....the whole world will flood.
Liked how a winterizing video turned into 2 science experiments.

Yessss. World definitely going to flood. Part of the reason I'll never be boatless. And yeah, excited to see how the rust experiment turns out

@@NoNonsenseKnowHow Hey Chris, did you ever make a video showing the results of the test? If so, can you post a link? I'd be interested to see the results. I have the same dilemma on whether to store my I/O dry or with RV antifreeze. Love your content. -Nate

I work at a motor sports and marina and when we fog we start the engine pull the air filter of and fog it until it stalls.

I also do it that way sometimes. Unless Im cranking the engine without the garden hose on, in which case i spray the carb first with a bunch and then crank it

I wish it was that easy, My wife and I just bought a 1986 19ft Stingray 190 super sport and I only see one drain plug, And to top it off I see oil dripping from the head and it looks to be a new gasket, And we're in fall now so I'm pretty scared that I can't find all the drain plugs and will crack the head/block..Were in Steven's Point, WI and desperately need help and the guy won't take the boat back😢

If it has a 4-cylinder in it then there will only be one drain plug. If it's a V8 there should be one on each side like in this video. Make sure to drain the manifolds as well. It takes a deep freeze to really wreak any havoc on a block full of water. A couple nights in freezing temps usually will not harm anything. And oil could be coming from somewhere else like a breather hose off onto the head gasket causing what you describe as a leak. So best would be to clean it all off and recheck. Sometimes people spray these down with rust preventative oil to so it could be that. . Hope that helps. Thanks for being a member and the support

@NoNonsenseKnowHow Thanks Chris, Yes I only see one brass plug bottom left of block, And as for the manifolds I need to take off all four (4) and pour the antifreeze down then until it comes out pink as you did in the video, But the only thing is all my tubs are in different spots

@@shawnp5035if its a v8 there is one on the other side also. May be a temp sensor. make sure to poke around in the hole after removing.

Hey Chris i sent pictures of the motor, Just now trying to figure out which hose I take of to run the coolant threw to flush all water out the manifold

I just got done I did fine 1 drain underneath the water pump in front of the motor and green coolant came out, Also every hose I pulled off had green coolant come out so I drained all them and put the rv -100f in, It took (4 ) gallong but I left it cracked until I saw the pink come out, And the same for the lower unit..

@@NoNonsenseKnowHow Thank you for getting back to me. I have not done the fogging spray into carb now that I see cylinder Wish I did do it. When I toke the hoses to pour anti freeze into the block seemed like lot rust built up where thermostat is . Is there anything I can use to flash out the block with ? I did not use the boat at all this past summer . I am sure its expense to fix if rust in cylinders. Might not be worth fixing . You did great job on video thanks for your help.
