I just want to say I stumbled across this a couple years ago and I KEEP coming back to it. Something about steel drums resonates in my soul (despite my South African heritage) I'll never forget this band nor this footage as long as I live. This is always the final party tune I listen too.
At old as you are by now, using "sickest" isn't a slang that should be in your vocabulary. That's for kids these days that don't understand it is a negative connection, not a positive one.
@@Phaota if you do the math, you'd realize that "sick" as part of colloquial vocabulary is well within the bounds of someone with 30 ish years of musical experience. Means I was in high school in the early 90s. As in, I grew up listening to punk and a little band called "Beastie Boys" who have a tiny album named "Ill Communication". But sure, bud. I'll go check myself due to my advanced age.
@@llamapicante "Sick" wasn't used in the 90s like it has become today. I never said you were of an "advanced age", just that you are old enough not to be using the off-slang of kids today. In the case of the Beastie Boys song, the term was used as a negative, as in "Got To Straighten My Thoughts, I'm Thinking Too Much Sick Sh*t".
i know im asking randomly but does anyone know a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the login password. I would love any tips you can offer me.
Wow, the best Caribbean music ever; I get goosebumps and my eyes fill with tears just to remember growing up in the Caribbean; greetings from Los Angeles, California! !
Just want 2 say ...I was in a sleet band 40 years ago in Manchester and i was lead pan...i have not heard the pans in donkeys years...you lot have just brought tears 2 my eyes... you are amazing... dont ever let go of this like i did....WOW....and thank you..
This is simply amazing - I have always loved what I call 'fast calypso carnival' steel band rythmn and this is it !!! Well done everyone.....please do CD's
They sound HARD eh. I used to play with the Rising Stars back in the 80's, but this is SERIOUS stuff... there arrangements and runs WOW. I wish i could've play with them
Thank you! LORD GOD ALMIGHTY JEHOVAH FOR GIVING US LIFE IN ABUNDANCE AND GREAT SOUNDS THROUGH THE STEEL PAN, KEEP ON FIGHTING FOR YOUR FREEDOM, FREEDOM OF MIND, BODY,, AND SOUL
That was amazing. I heard quite a few steel bands in my life growing up in Brooklyn, N.Y, as well as those straight out of Trinidad and other West Indies Island, But that right there was the best I ever heard,. Wow. My hat goes off to you guys
boomshocka10 really well u need travel to where it were created T&T, it's errors in this presentation but if you are not a steelpan arranger will miss most of it they definitely good but not the best in England prehap.th-cam.com/video/4l9UUFoU9EU/w-d-xo.html
@@factscheckeddall4221 I think he said that was the best HE has heard.. big difference to what you're talking about... No presentation has ever gone perfect 😂.. that band is legit
That was...awesome! Truly spectacular in-sync performance. Would have loved to hear it live. I'm amazed that they all could do such a long, and varied, routine without getting tired. The beat and joy of the play carried them though.
I just bought myself a steel drum a a c tenor these people are very inspiring great work y all the hours of practice you all have done are just showing your skills
Wow. These guys blew me *away* ! Beautiful work! And their conductor (not sure what his title would be in Trinidad steel drum tradition) seemed to going through an ecstatic religious experience after a while! LOL They chose a great song to blow the crowd away with and I was tapping my feet, too! I'm a *huge* fan of percussion instruments (natch, I'm an occasional drummer), especially ones that you can vary the pitch to create melodies. I use my bodhran, congas and djembe that way--tune them to differing pitches in different sections and use the sounds for the tones. But, then, that's normal for those instruments, to tune them that way, I guess. But, I think I *play* them a bit differently than some do--I use the pitches to play with the tones to make melodies, something I don't think I've heard other players do. I've wanted to learn instruments like the hammered dulcimer, or the gyumang (a Tibetan version of the yangqin, the Chinese hammered dulcimer), or the percussion instruments used in the Balinese Gamelan orchestras. You want to hear something *really* outside your normal musical experience? Check out the more than 50 musical forms that exist on Bali alone, or just see if you can find a video or recording of a Ketchak--it'll blow yer mind.
The banner at start of clip says Composer is "Precision Productions" and the Arranger is Duvone Stewart. Apparently the "song" is "Aaron Voice St Louis". This is a great piece, fine as any, so exuberant like steel band music is meant for.
As good as they sounded, this is just a shadow of how good a steel pan band sounds live. The music literally goes through you. There is nothing like a live steel pan band. If you have heard one steel pan drummer live and thought that was good, this look like close to 100 musicians and all of them are right on.
Z S it is with a heavy heart that I say that all stars Curry tabanca 1987 is and Will always be the best of all time......... and I do love my bp renegades...

I'm speechless. I've been playing music for 30+ years and that is hands down the sickest performance I've ever watched / heard.
