  • In this video I demonstrate a normal bind-off, using a crochet hook instead of a knitting needle. The result of this technique is the same as the common BO called for in most patterns.
    You can see this same bind-off using knitting needles in slow-motion here:

    You can see all of my slow-motion videos here:

    The needles I'm using are Kollage Sonic. The crochet hook is by Boye. The yarn I use for demonstration is Paintbox Yarns Wool Mix Chunky.
    The wrap on the mannequin is Mother Earth Wrap, more info including tutorial here:

    Great video! Who knew? But when you bind off using knit and purl stitches, on the purl stitches would you come through the back of the stitch on the needle? Thanks for this wonderful video.

    I carefully transfer all my loops to a long crochet hook and bind off 2 loops at a time just as I do in Tunisian crochet bind off. Quick and simple.
    I actually do not know how to bind off with knitting needles...

    I never thought about intering the loop as if to knit, that's different from how I'd been doing it. Thanks, I'm an old crocheter, that has been knitting for the last 3 yrs.

    Love this! I've often thought about it but never tried it. Not yet anyway. I will definitely try this bind off with the project I'm working on now!

      I believe it's structurally identical to a regular bind off

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it is identical to a "normal" or "regular" bind-off. It is a firm bind-off, but can be more firm or more stretchy based on the yarn you're using, the gauge you're knitting in, and/or the size of crochet hook you use. Just like a bind-off with two needles.

    That's an awesome way to bind off! I'm gonna try it soon. It's gonna be really helpful because I have a full set of crochet hooks and only three sizes of knitting needles. Thank you for showing this BO.

    A nice little cast off, but being a lefty crocheter, it may be a little trickier. 🤔
    Aside from this method, being Canadian and choosing a matching hook is simple - 4mm knitting needles = 4mm crochet hook! 😁

    Would binding off onto a Tunisian crochet hook and then doing a Tunisian return pass work, rather than doing a double/single crochet each time?

  • @divyashah2347
    @divyashah2347 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    How would I use this bind off in the middle of knitting? eg K 21sts, cast off 6 sets, knit 40 sets. Thanks

  • @sandraroper9866
    @sandraroper9866 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Please can you do a slow mo on unzipping a provisional cast on and it should include a knit and purl stitch ( as in a bunch of knit stitches with a purl stitch in the centre).
