Hi, so i have got the same issue, I can buy a new power button but the shop repair person says that the screen has to be removed for in order to install the new buttons,? Can the power button be installed by just removing the back side panel and all the accessories?
I will be real with you brother. You should watch some teardown vids (with commentary) or at least know what you are doing when you are trying to fix stuff. I have barely any experience fixing phones and a quick search let me know that the buttons are held in place by REMOVABLE PLASTIC PINS . But you wouldn't even see where those are because of the adhesive. This isn't a good solution. The replacement buttons are dirt cheap to order. You just made me even more paranoid on letting someone else fix my phone.

Yes sir only the back cover only you can install the buttons
The shop repair person is scamming you. There are two plastic pins. One that holds the power button and the other on the volume button.
