More people need to realize that dogs are a LOT MORE HAPPY when they are well trained and UNDERSTAND what you want them to do.

Yep. Imagine not being able to communicate. I adopted a dog who was "housebroken." When I discovered that she had peed on the floor, I said something like, "uh oh-pee" and she acted scared, so I knew that she knew she was not suppossed to do that. I told her that I was not mad, and started thinking about why she would pee in the house when she obviously knew better. I slowly figured out that she just didn't know how to ask to go outside. Maybe she was an outside dog or maybe she had a dog door. Can you imagine how horrible that was for her for the couple of days it took me to figure it out? Once I knew what the issue was, I started teaching her to ring a bell to go outside which I had never done before, and I made sure to let her out very regularly before she had the bell down pat. She also has a lot less fear now because she has a mom who won't punish a dog for being a dog or for not knowing how to communicate something to a human in a way the human understands.

I have one heeler currently. She’s the second heeler I’ve owned out of many other dogs I’ve loved and lived with. My heelers are by far the most easy to train dog I’ve ever had. They’re such well behaved dogs and training is a breeze. They’re so intelligent and obedient.

Do they really need to be around ppl 24/7 and walk 10 miles every day? (just asking for personal experience)

A bored dog is a bad dog. I've owned 7 in my life and have had 3 more on the farm. They are very clingy dogs but you can train them to be okay at home alone when you are at work. If you spend every second with them you probably get a dog that whines or barks when you're not around. You need to exercise them or they'll become bored. My girl in my profile made me get new boots because she was bored one day. If you have multiple dogs to keep them company and play with you should be fine. If you live in an apartment just forget about it all together. I personally couldn't live my life without an ACD. It will either be the last dog you own or first of many because you'll fall deeply in love with it.

If you want a dog for working with immaculate bloodlines you’re going to pay top dollar whereas if you’re after one suitable for a family and don’t care about the bloodlines then you’re going to get cheaper ones. I sure wish more people would understand and take to heart the importance of training their dogs. I see way too often dogs that are let out into a fenced yard for exercise or maybe just to have their pets out of the house. If that is their idea of exercising and maintaining a healthy pet my opinion is that they shouldn't have a pet. Not to mention the times a dog has run out to check me and my dog out only to find that the owner can not retrieve or control their dog.

      Thumbs up in aggreance.
There are way too many dogs I call "yard barkers" out there that are parked in the yard and otherwise ignored.
People who are not invested in training and do not employ total inclusion in the family pack should not own dogs.

How do you get that mouthing to stop though? I had an Australian cattle dog who was the easiest dog in the world to train so then I took in a 7 month old Aussie mix. She’s now almost two and is still a mess. She doesn’t play with toys. All she wants to do is jump on you and mouth your hands. A lot of the things I did to stop jumping in other dogs does not work for her. My acd mix has since passed and we see bringing home a acd puppy this week and I really don’t want these bad habits rubbing off on her.

Pain to watch since I can't do anything about it. She also doesn't give him any tick or flea medicine bc she doesn't know how and the dog gets like 2-3 ticks a day... and she never brings the dog to the vet. *sigh*

We have a friend with an awful bulldog that they had trained but still reinforces her bad behavior, so she barks constantly and is full of angst. They used a shock collar for a bit, but she learned the timing between resets and would still bark at the expense of the equivalent to a static pop. Now she barks and gets treats so she'll hush, like that's supposed to work. On the flip side our two heelers bark once and we tell them "DBB" (aka don't be barkin') and they come running back in the house. Our red boy wasn't technically trained, but he's a fast learner for once being a street boy.

    • @frankmorris4790

@@jennikress4940 Sad for the dog. Ours are "sorta" trained. We're on a ranch, we keep commands to a minimum, I want dogs that think for themselves rather than over trained automatons. For instance, we use "right here" with a down pointed left waggin' finger for "Heel". We also use it as a call back/come, RIGHT here! and AS WHERE THEY BETTER BE IN ABOUT HALF A SECOND OR ELSE. RIGHT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!! We use "Wait" for sit, stay, and wait. For now we use "hey!" delivered with volume and verve required. Aside from very important "leave it!" We are on a ranch ya know ,that covers about all we need except "watch em" -be prepared to move on cattle, "Talk to em" - motivate cattle with voice and presence. and "Git them cows! SHHHHHH!" "Bring em up" and "NO ya goofy bastard, not that one, THAT One!"
Note: it can get really western here really quick, if you say the "C" word! We say "c-o-w-s" and we say that quiet, they WILL figure it out.....

That way a dog will learn that 1 other people are not a threat & 2 that meeting people is a positive experience. My rescue red cattle dog had been abused and was super reactive and fearful of anyone. I only use treats for Trick training. My dogs do not get rewarded for basic manners.
An example would be I do not reward them for not jumping on me. But they do get rewarded if they do a trick such as take my sock off or open a door.

Wait no... she’s not trained. If she’s not doing a leave it or no, then it’s not been generalized or enforced enough. Dogs don’t have a concept of respect the way we do.

She is not trained. She came to us at two with no basic knowledge of any commands. We started lots of training shortly after this video!

I don't even have to watch the rest of this video, these healers are terribly overweight. A healer should have muscle definition. Also a REAL TRAINER will never use a pain collar.

Abby has thyroid issues, unfortunately. She came to us about 25 pounds overweight. After 6 months with us, she looked great but it is a constant battle trying to keep her healthy. I I KY hope her owner kept up with her health. Courage is perfect, she is 40 pounds, 21 inches tall, extremely lean and very athletic.

Did the people behind Bluey allow you to steal and reskin their art?

Making art in the same style isn’t stealing, it’s essentially fanart. Either way it doesn’t matter due to Creative Commons licensing

Actually no, we were not aware there was any kind of show until after we used(what we thought was a random cartoon drawing of a heeler) that it was brought to light.
I'm not a big internet person and had never seen the show!

Dog trainers are over priced and a waste of money. All you need is a sit command down command and a place command

You don't have full control of your "well trained dogs".😅

You need to focus more on the dogs and less on yourself.
