In this video we react to a tour of Christmas at Kew Gardens. Known as the world's largest botanic garden, Kew Garden is transformed into an incredible winter wonderland for the holidays. With beautiful Christmas displays, light shows, music and delicious food, this is an amazing place to spend a few hours with the family. Christmas at Kew looks like a lot of fun. My daughter would have a blast walking through the magical Christmas light trail, drinking hot chocolate and riding the old time carousel. If we're ever in London this time of year we will definitely stop by for the Kew Gardens Christmas.
Thanks for watching. If you enjoyed this reaction please give this video a thumbs up, share your thoughts in the comments and click the subscribe button to follow my journey to learn about my British and Irish ancestry.

Kew Gardens is actually the National Plant Collection. It supposedly contains thae largest collection of plants in the world with specimens and seeds of virtually every plant (and fungus) ever discovered. It's a magical place to visit at any time of year - I used to visit regularly when I lived in London. (But I've never actually visited a Christmas time!)

Father Christmas and Santa are relatively interchangeable in the UK but growing up Father Christmas was his usual name. He definitely wouldn't be called Old Nick as that means the devil, at least in the UK.
Glad that you're both feeling better!

Kew gardens itself is in South West London - pretty large - lots of areas with different planting and a couple of huge glass houses for tropical plants - well worth doing a reaction to the gardens in summer. Kew-Wakehurst is a separate property near Ardingly and Haywards Heath in West Sussex and is one of my all time favourite places to walk - Kew-Wakehurst holds plants that are more sensitive to pollution, and also includes a couple of lakes , a pond and a Mansion - the Mansion dates back to the Elizabethan era and there is evidence of occupation back to the stone age - flint arrowheads have been found. It is Kew-Wakehurst that contains the seed bank, but there is also huge variety of plants and habitats to see, my favourites are the walled garden, the water gardens, the iris dell ( amazing azaleas in late spring, and Japanese maple), himalayan glade, the wetland areas and Bloomers Valley with its bluebells and wild orchid meadow. There is also a prairie garden, a pinetum and a wild woodland area with wicker artworks in the shapes of local wildlife. Kew-Wakehurst has its own winter light show called Glow Wild with a two mile trail with hundreds of light artwork installations along the trail - worth checking out if you can see the Glow Wild on Video, as your are loaned a coloured lantern to use as you walk around and the whole experience is magical. Also look for a video of Wakehurst in spring or autumn - the colours and especially the bluebells are glorious. Personally I far prefer Kew-Wakehurst to Kew in London, Kew-Wakehurst is more varied and a lot wilder and has more miles of walking trails - I can happily spend whole days there. I have plenty of photos on Flickr ( Zephya ) and Instagram ( azzephya ) if you're interested. Insta has a tiny set from Glow Wild which I took a few days ago - but look for @kew_wakehurst ( official photos ) or #GlowWild or similar - am sure a lot of folk will also have posted beautiful images.

St. Nicholas (Father Christmas, Santa) was Turkish and lived in the 4th century AD. Sainted for his generosity in giving gifts and alms to the poor. His tomb was raided in the 11th century and his bones are now in churches and tombs around the world, reportedly.

That's not a Carousel. It's a Gallopers (or Merry go Round) (invented in Norfolk by Frederick Savage, from the static Dobbies ride that predated it) they spin clockwise, Carousels spin the other way. The outer ring of horses will look outwards, so you can't swap them between the two.

Sorry you've all been so unwell- and glad to see you both back!
The Kew Gardens Seed Bank isn't at the site of Kew Gardens itself (Richmond West London) - it is just run as part of the same organisation. The two places are about 50 miles apart (and with traffic that's about 1 hour 20 minutes travel time in a car).
Father Christmas always used to be the name for The Present Guy here in the UK, but the name Santa Claus has become much more common these days, and the two are pretty much interchangeable now.
I'm guessing the hour and a half walking time includes stopping to look at different bits. We went to something along similar lines in one of our city parks last night- not quite as amazing as the ones at Kew (in terms of scale), but it was a good hour's wandering along the trail, with a few interactive bits along the way, where you could press buttons to alter lights, move laser beams in the sky, or accompany the ights with sounds.

Yes, Kew Gardens are in the south western suburbs of London, on the banks of the Thames, in a lovely area also known as Kew. It's easily reached by train or tube, either to Kew Bridge or Kew Gardens stations (depending on which transport method/route you choose). Both the gardens and the area are well worth a visit at any time of year. The gardens themselves are world famous especially in the realms of horticulture, and are stunningly beautiful. You do have to pay to enter though.

Father Christmas and Santa like others have said is interchangeable but as a child growing up all be it some decades ago now Father Christmas was what we used and is more familiar to me. As we are able to walk more to things in the UK as they tend to be easily accessible, as opposed to things being further away and having to drive to them in the US, a one to two hour leisurely walk around the lights would be nothing really here. People will choose to dip in and out seeing various things, some may do the whole thing others may choose to do some.

Richmond Park (the largest of the Royal Parks) is also located in that borough. If you’ve ever watched Ted Lasso it is located in Richmond, the capital town of that borough. Another famous town in that borough is Twickenham where Twickenham stadium is located, the home of the English rugby football union team and of the English governing body, the Rugby Football Union (RFU).

'Father Christmas' is probably the most used by children, although 'Santa' or 'Santa Claus' has made it's way over the pond, probably due to American films (movies). We have 'Secret Santa', where one colleague buys a gift (possibly something amusing/useless) for another, without revealing who bought it. The gifts are all placed in a sack and someone hands them out, like Santa.
I remember one year, a guy received a 'dressing table set' (hairbrush, comb, hand mirror, etc) and he was a bald as an egg 😂
    P.S. ----- Merry Christmas !!!🌲☃🎄

    Kew Gardens really is massive
, but even on regular visits they have golf buggies to take people around if you don’t feel like walking, or for the elderly etc.

Sorry to hear you have both been poorly. Hope you will all be back to your old selves in time for Christmas. If you want to continue the Christmas light theme you might like to react to 'Spectacular Chatsworth House Christmas Light and Trail theme 2023'. It's magical.

We traditionally refer to Father Christmas, though these days Santa is almost equally common and the two names tend to be used interchangeably.

I recently went to South East Asia and came back with what I thought was a cough and cold, and general feeling of exhaustion. Everyone kept telling me to take a Covid test, but I didn't have any test kits, and honestly didn't think it would be Covid. But one day my neighbour gave me a test kit, and BOOM...it came back positive!! So many think that Covid is over now, but it still lives among us my friends!

Oh yes sadly people have been misled in thinking it's over (in GOVS attempt to "live with it") & cases are on the rise again, it's still affecting people, just please all take extra time etc to rest to try to lower chances of "Long COVID" hope all can avoid COVID & flu (also now on rise in UK) for Xmas 🎄 wish you all a good & healthy one.

In Welsh Father Christmas/ Santa Claus is known as Sion Corn ( pronounced Shaun Con). Kew Gardens is the centre of horticulture in Britain & is the home of the Royal Horticultural Society.
