Yup I'm game... Starting trucking school soon too, and definitely looking at options for cooking. I'm definitely getting a small instapot, so I can cook rice, oatmeal, soups and stews.
I miss being new it's was so fun then, I know I can make it fun again today but I'm local I'm just trying to make it home safely from the large city of Milwaukee WI it's rough it's not 55 north and south in Chicago but it's rough. Lord please don't let me be that guy who treats the job like it's below me like I see too many times.
Here's an idea for the smoke and smell.. open the passenger window all the way and set a fan on the table blowing out. Then crack the driver window so air can come in to replace it. Run it whenever you have the stove on.
Inverter, microwave, refrigerator? Wow, Schneider has changed since I was there. I used to put cans of soup in front of the bunk heater for a hot meal. I enjoyed my time while I was there. Hit all 48 states, did 1 million safe miles, was a Training Engineer. Can’t complain. Left the company to drive local after my daughter was born.
I never had any of that. Inverter was limited to 300W for sleep apnea device. I end up buying a portable rice cooker from Japan. Takeru kun. Expensive but worth every penny! That and water boiler lets me cook very well!
Your videos are wonderful. Your freshness, positivity and confidence are most infectious. When you age, you will become jaded, weary and crabby. Other than that, maturity makes stability easier. I am an old fart blessed with enduring optimism. Weird, but fortunate. Use your drive hours for learning, and you'll die smiling. And that's far better than how most humans kick the bucket.
You might want to look into an insta pot. You can slow cook, cook rice, boil, sauté it’s really useful. Lots of my truck driving friends use them. They also do dishes in truck stop sinks (they are girls so there bathrooms are prob nicer than yours lol) And it leaves you with just one pot to wash up Lots of love Tiki
Hey driver, did the same instead of eating out everyday. Bought the lunchbox stove thingy, can't remember the name, and bought the aluminum pans that go into from Walmart. Heat up chili, soups, etc right in the pan and used it as the bowl and didn't have to wash it out. Plugs into cigarette lighter, easy mode...you can buy the stove and loaf pans in truck stop, but pans are cheaper at Walmart. And btw, chili with cheezitz is the bomb, I'll never go back to crackers! Another sack I liked was Ritz crackers, and pepperoni with the cheese spread. Also,you can buy a exercise bicycle thing that is just the pedals and do that right in the truck. I don't know how others drivers made money eating out 3 times a day myself... I did treat myself to a good meal tho every once in a while. Good luck driver, keep the content coming, and be safe!
About your bad tooth. Try oil pulling. Also baking soda is awesome. Brush, or swish with baking soda. It’s Alkalizing. I mix coconut oil and baking soda and brush with it. It’s helped with my broken off wisdom tooth. It’s been broken off for 4-5 years and I’m all good. Let me know, if you try it, how it works for you.

if you go to walmart and look in the craft section yu can get stick on velcro for that fridge. I use it for my RV fridge so I know it works well. just make yourself a strap and if it has area that dosnt need the sticky just put some paper on it

When the truck is not on idle mode, you can turn on the APU and still cook. I do that and works fine. But give it time until it turns on and start running. If it doesn't won't turn on play with the AC and Heat mode it will turn it on.

Use a bungee for the fridge door. hook it somewhere on the bottom and then run it over the top on the opening side. If done right you don't even have to unhook the bungee.

My fridge still works while the truck is off. There is APU that turns on automatically when the voltage falls below certain amount to keep the battery charged.

I just answered someone else who asked a similar question, but my take home for my 1st full week on the road solo was more than $1k. Not bad but as a new CDL holder, I'm definitely not complaining 😅
I won't cover specifics but I will say that my take home check for my 1st FULL week solo was more than $1k. Keep this in mind though, it can be very inconsistent as the weeks go by, it completely depends on what loads you get dispatched for. I was lucky enough to get decent mile loads for that 1st full week. Hope this helps!

Thats why i nvr liked driving a van...especially for a big company...to much sitting and waiting...if that trk is not moving you are not earning...90% of the time i dont hv time nor do i feel like cooking after driving 600 miles...to each his own. Every driver needs a cb...but if it is not on all the time it is useless...all u new drivers should run a cb all the time...also worth noting, i ran paper for 25 years...much much diff running paper. And yes i know, no more paper.i much prefer smaller companies...mega companies only know your trk number.im a flatbedder...no appointments and no sitting all the time...95% of the time you are moving..just food for thought..
