- In today's episode of our 1.20 Survival Minecraft Let's Play we go on a small lush cave excursion, build a nether portal, and visit the nether for the first time! I also get the worst spawn I think I've ever gotten.

I think a mix of replay footage and live is the best because by only replay footage we can see you building but we don’t know your thoughts like in this video and only live can sometimes be a bit long and people could get distracted easily.

Honestly the first nether spawn is kind of great in the long run because you can make a nether base without mobs spawning up there! You could enclose ladders to get up and down or a spiral stair case even. Plus if you did glass floors you could have floor windows to see the views 😊 pink and crimson woods could make it really cute as well!
Nether Tips: Although, making a golden helmet takes one more golden ingot than golden boots. It seems to last longer for me! I take a shield to block blows from blazes. If you can get enchants or potions of fire resistance they are a gift! I take a sword, hopefully a smite one! Smite is great on skeletons and wither skeletons! I use the sword to bat back ghast blasts. I also take a bow to shoot ghasts and other mobs at a distance. Always keep non burnable blocks like cobblestone to bridge, hide, pillar, and block mobs! In nether fortress use blocks across a hallway to fight wither skeletons like enderman as they are three blocks tall! Pillar up and swipe down at hoglins. Throw gold at piglins to distract long enough to run! Don’t mine gold in front of piglins! Leave a block trail back to your portal! Don’t try to do it all and take it all at once! Small executed strikes and trips in to get what need and leave! Also having a set hotbar..my sword is always in this slot, helps you respond better and faster to an enemy! Magma cubes tend to leap on you from over head in besalt biomes! Keep your eyes up and ahead! When they jump critical hit them! Use a bow to shoot them into smaller ones from a distance! In besalt keep blocks to make a path! The pillars have holes hiding in them! There is so much! Hope some of this helps!
I think a mix is always the best! Start off building. Going through your vision and idea and then enter Timelapse and maybe stop to update about the process, if you made and changes to the idea or just to show and talk about the way you build or some tips and tricks you use and then finish of the Timelapse into like a walk through showing the completed build in real time.
I find Timelapses so satisfying to watch but I’m also interested in the reasoning behind why some blocks are placed or what the plan and vision for an area is so definitely a mix for me! 💖💞

Oof...yeah, when you've got a Nether spawn like that, the only thing you can really do is go back home, collect a buttload of gravel, sand, cobblestone and ladders, and use block physics. Falling sand/gravel, ladder down, and build yourself an ugly cobble safety tube around your ladder to keep from getting shot off or blown up by skellies and ghasts halfway up, because if the blasts and arrows don't unalive you? The fall damage will.
Country girl here! Just wanted to tell you that cows, cattle, come in different sizes. But most are around five foot tall. So usually you’re a head taller. But they’re smaller ones. But I guess if you’re a small woman they might seem large!
The replay is so my favorite it’s so relaxing to watch
I think for the sniffer enclosure it would be really cool to build it out of colours that the sniffer has, like green and yellow as it will make you use some really unique blocks. I love this series!🩷
I prefer a combination of the live building and replay footage. It keeps things interesting by changing things up and you get different perspectives of the build. Also, just wanted to share a couple little tips. Moss is my favorite temporary block b/c it's so easy to break with a hoe and the hoe will rarely break any of your other build blocks. The other thing is that I've been really happy a couple times that I took Pixlriffs' advice to use a gold helmet in the nether instead of boots b/c gold is so much easier to break and you don't want to lose your feather falling (when you get it) while you're in the nether. Anyway, I'm very much looking forward to seeing more as you go along. 😊
Reminds me of those bad nether spawns where you're just on a portal floating in the sky above a lava lake 😂

nether survival tips:
- at least 1 piece of armor with fire protection 4, not only will it reduce damage from lava, but will cut in half the time you spend on fire after you get out
- regular protection 4 on the rest of your armor, trade with villagers to get xp, feather falling could also help
- stay away from magma cubes near lava, they push you back farther than you might expect (also just stay out of basalt deltas in general)
- if you're going back for more and not just there for blaze rods to get to the end, always carry a fire res potion on a hotkey and always know which hotkey that is
- don't put yourself in bad situations, backed into corners, swarmed by mobs, etc
- know your exits and exit strategies
- gold helmet loses slightly less armor than gold boots (very slightly though so if cute golden booties are your thing you'll probably be fine)
- triple check that you have everything ready to go before you enter the portal
- check out my stream or vods, i play hardcore and spend as much time as possible in the nether

Does elevation in the overworld affect the portal placement in the Nether? That could be why you spawned in the ceiling. I could be wrong. Other than that, the sniffer looks right at home with the cows. It's so cute.

I also think that you should use the blocks that you used for your house its like a
little sanctuary for your little sniffer guys
you spawned that far up in the nether because you built the portal up in a mountain,always remember the overworld and nether are connected
Bring gold to the nether and barter with piglins for fire resistant potions. And if you go to a bastian, bring a lava bucket to kill the brutes. It won't agro the piglins.

I think replay would be better because some people just don’t have time to watch lives and I think it would be cool to try nether travel.
i fully agree w you about crying obsidian because it just doesn't make sense and with how it cool it looks, I would love to use it for portals :') but apparently it ommits a light level of 10 so you could use it to light stuff up lol

I like the combination. First you explain what you want to build so we see your creative journey and then in the reply footage we see it all worked out. Maybe with a pause if you explain you altered some concepts and then start the replay footage again. With the happy music! yay!
