This is my personal history with Alex Mahan. I wish I had spoken out about how he has treated me sooner. I know other people have had it worse but I wanted to have my experiences out in the open. Thank you all to my loving fans who have always supported me no matter what.

This could just be me, but I personally feel like your attempt at the 80s anime art style replicates the 80s anime art style more than the one that was used. This isn’t to tear the other artist down mind you as both you and them produced good art, but when comparing the designs and asking which accomplishes the objective of “80s anime”, yours personally looks like something I could see fitting within that 80s anime crowd so I have no clue what yanderedev was smokin to feel the need to change it.

The way he just made your shopkeepres designs essentially "placeholders" for a ""better"" art is just... Wow. Just wow. You can see that this man never actually understood how hard drawing is.
This is rich when Mulberry herself is known to trace her art from time to time. F you Alex.. and a big middle finger to Mulberry for claiming that she came up with these designs when that’s clearly false.

I feel like the art change requests are very indicative of Alex's character and his unwillingness to accept new ideas and criticism. That original "nerd girl" design was very cute and creative but was pushed aside for Alex's original and ,imo, worse idea.

Biggest middle finger you could give to him is use the lovely designs you made and make a better story for them. Your designs are very unique and expressive and shouldn’t be thrown to waste by a rotting dirtbag of the internet who can’t grasp the basic important things to making a game (visuals and coding)

Im considering downloading a pirated version of a build with her art in it so i can rip the models and sprites to use them for a unity project, would that be ok I'm wondering if i should ask them first.

The fact that he made you create characters for a project he should have known he would be unable to pursue from the get-go is also absurd. Your generosity and tolerance is commendable. 5:15 I find it strange and a little messed up that Yanderedev told this artist that Mulberry's art style was "better" suited for 80s mode when they drew the characters in their usual art style, it doesn't really look like an anime style from the 80s 💀

In the head Artist’s defense, there are actual changes. I’m not going to argue there isn’t copying going on, but it’s like Link versus Peter pan. The designs looks similar and there’s clear inspiration, but can you say it’s really the exact same? But I can completely agree their in the wrong for not crediting and saying they completely made them up on their own.

6:35 don’t feel bad that your work isn’t in Yan Sim- your work deserves to be in much better projects because frankly- you are way out of their league. I also wanted to say when they originally designs for the shop keeps came out- I fell in love cause it reminded me of the simplicity of some horror mangas back in the 80’s! I’m not sure if it was intentional but it’s really smart to have a simple art style because it invokes dread and the feeling that something is not right- very fitting to the game mode! This is especially important for the hair dresser- an actual serial killer you get the sense that there’s something not right with her and I love it!!!
5:04 struck a nerve. I fear I may be dead come the day employers finally start listening and recognising artists for what they can do and are good at. The experience thing really annoyed me for so many reasons.
I may be late to the party, but I'm glad you spoke up about this. Seeing those beta designs was really cool, and seeing the 1980's filter on them would have been cool. I hope that you will get to (or maybe already are!) getting to do something with either those characters or that style of design.

Man, the pain in your voice when you've been talking about this ugly experience with the 80's mode...damn, I felt it. I felt it with all my heart. It's so unfair and disgusting - the way he uses people as some sort of disposal material: he deserves to be treated exactly how he was treating people.
I've never been able to properly draw, so I have a great amount of respect for people who can actually make art for everyone to admire.
It completely breaks my heart that hours of work and effort get tossed aside as if they were dolls a child no longer wants to play with. This probably isn't the only case unfortunately, but it is one of the saddest ones I've ever heard.
I sincerely hope you are in a position were your work is actually being appreciated (even better if you are getting paid too).
I've been aware of Alex's grooming behavior for a few years now. I was groomed at 14 and seeing him get away with it for so long seriously fucked with me.
I loved the 80s anime style you did. You did a spectacular job for something new, unlike Alex who will never be comfortable with new things and ideas. You deserve amazing games to work on and I wish to see your art in more things.

Commission prices are on my Instagram. I wouldn’t recommend commissioning me right this second as I’m backed up on commissions (college is occupying me enough already) but I’d love to once I’m less busy :3

As someone who’s was a fan of the game and especially the art style(it was one of my main reasons to start drawing) it leaves such a bitter taste in my mouth to someone who I’ve been a fan do something so vile and disgusting,I’m genuinely happy to see that most of the people who worked for Alex are quitting honestly you guys truly deserve to not have your talents wasted on a terrible project and I truly hope the people who are affected by Alex’s actions are doing well

Truth is, WankdereDev was never worth supporting. After over a decade of Cashdere Milkator, I was hoping all the nonsense finally died, so I'm surprised (and quite honestly disgusted) that it's still somehow stinking to this very day. I just casually stumbled upon this video, and after seeing your story, you seem to me like a wonderful human being and I quite honestly wish you the best. Cool designs, by the way! :>
Alex's actions are despicable by all means. A kind congratulations from me to you for breaking free of a very one sided business relationship. Your art has a very interesting and recognizable appeal, and whilst I have respect for the artists that fall under the "good" category, yours gives off the vibe of just... passion for something you really like, whilst the other smells like just a transactional exchange and nothing further. Good luck in any future positions you may find yourself in, and if I ever need an artist in the future for some kind of project, I would look forward to working with you. :)

I heard of the Yanderedev-related drama and I no longer support that creep. Sure, his project seemed to have potential, but with his true nature exposed, I believe the game's concept is better off as fanart & fanfiction, but this time without monsters like him being in charge. Honestly, Your artworks for the game look much better than the redrawn ones, and Yandev had absolutely no right to hurt You like this. But with that out of the way 1st, I'm glad you got out of the most pathetic yet most evil manipulate piece of s*** person we've ever seen yet on the internet (There's also other people like him who does this horrible behaviour behind the scenes as well from us Gen Z viewers here have seen)

I remember loving your art for the shopkeepers so so much! The designs and style were so good and they made the shops feel almost homey. When I saw the art was replaced in a new update, my first response was "????? Why??? The original art was so good!" I still can't believe he replaced it like that :/

It sucks to know I used to support that pedophile, especially because when I was younger I was groomed, I hope he gets arrested as much as you do. I'll always know your Yandere Simulator work because you did phenomenally on it, I actually remember your shopkeeper designs and not Mulberry's rehashings, that's how well your work has always been known to me since it was so unique. I agree with everyone else, his controllingness is very indictive of his personality. You can't argue that he's like that due to passion, there's a difference between being very very passionate and scummy.

If I had the ability to make my own version of YanSim (I’m a minor with no video game programming experience so unless I learn as an adult, it’s unlikely), I’d 100% hire you to work on art pieces for it :)

I'm 42 so for me I've always been an adult on TH-cam... But it absolutely floors me that your entire time dealing with him was from when you were in middle school to adulthood. would have never known you were any part of this game until i stumbled upon this video. i only got awareness of alex' nasty behaviour months ago with the while grooming thing, but today i heard what other wrongs he has done. hopefully opening up to the world has made you feel better in any way. keep doing what you love, for yourself and for the ones who will correctly appreciate what you do👍🏽

I clearly remember seeing your work when 1980s mode first came out and I thought it was really cute and faithful to the 80s anime style! Huge shame that Alex made Mulberry redo it. No hate to her, I think her art is cool, but I honestly loved yours WAAAAY better and I was actually a little confused when I saw new videos of the 1980s mode build with Mulberry's art since I was like "wait what happened to the other art?". the 80s mode debacle could've been very easy to solve though. even if you weren't going to be the main sprite artist for the game, you were still a character designer and should've been assigned and credited as such. designing a character and making art for them takes many steps, and many different drafts to get just right. i feel like in alex's mind, your art was the first rough pass, which he would then turn over to his main character artist to make the final pass. this is a normal practice in games and character design in general, it's a group effort among several people. the issue was that alex set you up with the expectation that you were going to be the main character artist, while also ordering you to use a different style than you were used to. it was practically setting you up for disappointment, and i'm sorry for that. if he'd just assigned you to be a character designer with the assumption that the main artist would build upon those designs for the sprites, this definitely would've ended better.
Your art is so beautiful :) I love the 80s art and thought it fit extremely well with the vibe of the mode.

I am a big fan of your artstyle and believe me when i say that i played this game and when i went to the town in the 80s mode and saw the models changed i started looking everywhere looking for a possible update thinking it might be a bug i loved them so much they were so unique because imo yan sim is just a fetishy fantasy of alex with no imperfections or uniqueness so it feels liveless. Your quality makes me think the model’s story and personality when i knew he was a groomer my heart dropped not for him but for all the people that would be blamed just for being part of the project and of course, i felt so bad for the victim. I just wanna make you feel good and support you because you have something he doesnt have and it is uniqueness, ACTUAL FEELING actual emotions and not thinking of it as work but as a hobby and something you enjoy of and noone has to take that from you i hope you make a project of your own because ill be the first to support !!

Truthfully, you deserve to have your art being used by far, FAR better than that walking mistake. Your art is actually incredible. And he couldn’t see the magnificence of what he was given. I remember back in the early days when YandereSim was actually something worth looking into. Then all the dirt on Alex started surfacing. And the game stagnated…No thanks. I’m not supporting devs like that. But you, you are an amazingly talented artist and incredibly brave for coming forward and sharing your experiences. Never stop believing in yourself or your art.
Edit: You should get in touch with someone to make your own game revolving around those characters. Those designs are amazing. They just scream classic 80s anime (and as a fan of Gundam which the OG anime debuted in the 80s I am ALL FOR THAT STYLE!) and it is amazing.
