I'm sure they can jump higher, but its not about getting the most amount of air time or height, its about conserving energy. Why would you want to waste energy jumping 0.2m higher and not win the winning shot? Save that energy and keep up the rally so you can punish the opponent's mistakes instead.
can you measure kevin sanjaya jump smash how much high he get, he is small and not so powerfull but i get the feeling that he is very agile and explosive with his body

Probably the height of their feet when they have their legs tucked in, which is quite different from the actual jump height....would be interesting to see some of Fu's earlier jumps, for example the 2009 AE tournament has some good shots of his jump smashes. Or Ko Sung Hyun, he can jump pretty high for a tall guy...
I remembered in the years passed (during the 15 point old scoring system), one of the Indonesians double greats (Sigit Budiarto) if im correct jumped very high, till the point the casters said he was like climbing a ladder. Cant remember which game they played against but it was neck and neck in score.
better make separate videos for men double and men single coz players have different amount of time to get ready for the jump smash. I believe in MD players could jump higher. btw, this video is exciting to watch, thanks!
Wer is the Jump? Best Jumpers in world badminton ( FHF, Jorden, GVshem, M Ahsan, JJS (late), S Swei.... ) most of them are Doubles players. Because they get more time and correct position to hit the shuttle.
Lin dan can jump higher than this.He can surely jump highest among all other badminton players.This was 2015 Lin dan and at that time his fitness level were really going down.If someone want to see his jumping abilities then they should watch 2008 and 2012 olympics
Misleading title. It should have been titled, "Average heights of each badminton jump" or something like that. This title is supposed to show the highest jump they could. If really so, LD could leap in the air very high and so is GVS. What a joke. You showed probably GVS lowest jump in his everage jumping smash.

yes... and jumping too high or low will make the smasher failed to get the shuttle in the sweet spot of rackets...
But jumping high helps apply more power on the shot

Players dont jump at their highest during the game so that they can better recover. Pretty sure all of them can jump very high
