As I was younger I never understood adults saying "I wish I were a child or younger again" fuck man. I know NOW what it meant and how it feels ... just playing FF7 at late summer night and fall asleep with no worries, childhood was awesome.
This dude nailed it out in the park. I think he missed something big though. Was that while this was going on, we were dreaming of our own adventures.Perhaps looking forward to what was beyond our own midgar.
They say certain sounds and smells can bring on the most intense memories. I played FF7 to death, literally as the disc 1 stopped working entirely and 2 needed a young priest and an old priest present at all times. 3rd disc worked fine. Lol I just recently found lofi remixes and yours here has absolutely nailed it. I enjoy metal covers too. Aeriths theme on electric guitar is insane. Let's see. 1997. I was 12, with this music I can vividly remember me and my best friend Matt playing this ALL NIGHT at his house because my console was being dumb. No memory card on his so we had to leave it on when we were done. The music. The scenes. While by today's standards are garbage, today's gamers don't quite get what a breakthrough in gaming FF7 was. The animation cut scenes, the story, the depth of the materia system, chocobo breeding (I was on my third playthrough before I really got in to trying it and realized there's whole places and equipment I was missing entirely without the right chocobo). Man. Now I'm 36, and I can STILL remember every location when I hear the OST. Love it man. Love. It.
I do really miss being a kid. Although my child hood was not great. With my mom it was, when I was with her. I would play these games all night, Final Fantasy (789), Zelda OOT, Mario 64, Snowboard Kids 2, Tombraider (1,2,3). I always wanted to be older then. Now I want to go back in time so that I could spend more time enjoying youth and making better decisions as a young adult. This music brings out the best memories for me, and shuts out the bad ones. Love your mom if you have or had a great one guys! Love both of your parents if they are both great and loving while you still have them.
Oh, man. The prelude with the opening screen made me shiver and like made me hurt out of nostalgia. Some of my more peaceful memories as a kid were around playing this game, and it was one of the first things my brother and I kind of shared a bond or at least an understanding over. I can remember drawing characters out of the handbook for hours, even whole weekends, and I've listened to the soundtrack regularly ever since I got my first portable mp3 player. I can sing/hum the whole thing from memory, and I once remade five or six songs as a creative project. This game is like a bright spot in my life for inspiring creativity. Every facet of it, I've expanded upon in art and music and writing and I learned my first great lessons in video game culture and gaming media from it. This mix is fantastic and the sort of muted, ethereal sound some of the tracks have (especially Anxious) do the memories so much justice, and make it sound dreamy.
Taiylor Wallace this was a great comment. As a kid my older cousin had this game & I wanted to play it so bad but he just kept telling me you have to read a lot & your not going to like it. So I never played FF7 😔
Rewind to me in 1998, at my piano, playing Tifa's Theme. "F major is such an under-rated key." So much of Uematsu's work is stellar compared to all other video game music...
I'm glad to hear you're working on more! I love everything about how you did this video. The music is wonderful, the aesthetic is wonderful, and the gameplay in the background made me feel like I was replaying and rexperiencing Midgar all over again. When you got to the last song, Holding my Thoughts in, I almost lost it. That was always my favorite song in FF7 and is still my fave or at least one of my faves. I always found it so mysterious. Such a beautiful song, but the first time I heard it was when I discovered the locked gate for the first time. As a kid, I just stood there wondering when I was going to be able to get through that gate and discover why such a wonderful song played there lol. Long story short, keep up the good work lol.
Duuude FF8 has such great potential for lowfi/wave music with tracks like Balamb Garden, Blue Fields, definitely Breezy, oh Man With The Machine Gun is already so good..
@@OSRSBrachydios aw man i actually loved it. Ignorning the story changes (dont wanna say im 100% against them til it plays out) it really brought the characters to life in a new way. Plus it cant change how i feel about the original either way
I'm here scouring TH-cam for inspiration on what game I might tackle for another tape and found this. Diggin it man. Loved the more relaxing tracks Anxious, Flowers, and Shinra. Again man, nice work.
I love the visuals you put with your wonderful music. It really brings it home, like I have to go check all the cords on the TV to clear up the picture, or make sure the VCR is on the right channel.Perfect.
Awesome work !!! It's funny I just started replaying final fantasy 7 just a couple days ago and this pops up with the thumbnail of Cloud and co. leaving Midgar .
2:54 whenever I listen to this original music in game, I always thought it would sound badass with a beat behind it. Now look what you gone and done. Love this mix dude hell yes
YOOO Lzls, me again. Your *project* hit me like a train with nostalgia, joy and sadness. I thank you very very much for this masterpiece. I wish you a good year and that whatever you plan or dream of, will work and come true !
Thanks man :) Glad you connected with it. That's really what I'm trying to go for - so many of my strongest memories are tied up in these games and it's great to share that with other people.
Thank you for making these, I found out about your Music through an article that was featured on Bandcamp about the top fan albums for “Final Fantasy VII” on there in celebration of the amazing Remake releasing, being both a longtime FF7 fan and a lover of all kinds of music including “Vapor Wave” I HAD to give it a listen. I’m glad I read that article, I loved it instantly and bought BOTH of your albums on Bandcamp, and have been listening to them all day & night. These were so incredibly well done little albums, you honored the game and it’s music beautifully in your own way, I’ll be checking out your other albums as well. If you do make more “FF7” albums aside from the two I’ll definitely also be buying them as well. Thank you again, stay safe out there, and keep up the wonderful work. Thanks a lot. Seriously appreciate the kind words. I'm using my quarantine time to play the remake and work on a few new FF7 songs so hopefully I'll have another mix out in a month or so!
Lzls You are absolutely welcome, always love meeting another “Final Fantasy VII” fan out there, your music has actually helped me personally deal with all the madness and uncertainty out there. Songs like “Anxiety” specifically bring me peace, often at times listening to it over and over on repeat, which has been true for me even with the original song “Anxious Heart” along with its many remixes in other games as well. The music in this game always spoke to my soul, always connected with me in such a profound way, along with the game itself. The new “Remake” is beyond all words incredible, it’s so amazing often at times playing it, I’m in disbelief that it even exists. It’s like playing a dream, they’ve went above and beyond with it, glad to hear you are enjoying it all as well. Thank you again, for your music and kind reply as well, stay safe out there. We will get through this madness, one day at a time, with “Final Fantasy 7” by our side the entire time. Our heroes have returned to us when we needed them most and will help us get through this darkness. Lastly, I’m glad to hear that more FF7 music from you is coming, take your time man. I’ll be waiting. Take care.🙏🏻
Have re-listened multiple times - it's probably my favorite mix of yours. It practically radiates languor and nostalgia, the days of experiencing the world for the first time, without the tinge of reminiscing. You made them feel appropriately "analog"; which is common for lo-fi, but suits the gritty Midgar songs particularly well.
Thanks man, really appreciate it. It's hard to listen to my own stuff after a while and really "hear" it anymore but I'm glad it drags those feelings up. Always nice when music can take you back like that.
