In the wake of the ambulance crash that ended Season 1, medical director Dr. Max Goodwin grieves the death of his wife, Georgia, and learns the difficulties of being a single parent - all the while continuing his commitment to solve systemic health care issues at the hospital. I’m loving the fact that she didn’t wait around for him especially knowing he was seeing someone else. Go have your gun girl! He needs to be alone, grieve and heal, because Helen deserves a man totally devoted and crazy in love.

I’m so glad I gave this show a chance. I started watching the show during spring break and now I’m caught up and I want more. I just adore max and helens relationship. 😍

I think I know now what he was wanting to say. He was wishing he could say, "I needed to protect the unspoken intimacy that we both know exist between us". One thing is apparently clear now. When Max asked, "why didn't you tell me"? He was indirectly revealing that he cares for her, and that in his mind, she should want to tell him if there is another man occupying her thoughts, her space and possibly more. BUT, as she voiced so eloquently, "I didn't realize I was suppose to".... since you were dating someone last year, and neglected to tell me. That also shows us that, at that time Max was dating Alice, he was so oblivious to Helen's feelings, and how she felt about him.
Great writing in this scene, and even better, emotions contained within, now coming to the surface since he saw her and Cassian kissing. Sometimes you don't realize how much someone means to you, until you come close to losing them. Max and Helen's EYES speak volumes. I really do think, never have I ever seen such authenticity of two characters falling so deeply in love like these two, the embers of a fire igniting something out of control.🕊❤️❤️🕊
I've been wanted to see jealous Max but I didn't expect that he would be this hopeless and it's so heartbreaking seeing him like this. The facial expression, the sad eye, the stuttering.. It does looks like Helen means the world to him.. The writer really need to make them a couple this season! it's been too long already, it's ridiculous to keep dragging them..
I hope the writers will give us the #Sharpwin moment we all waiting for. it's been too long already and dragging to keep things like these. Max, talk to Helen tell her everything it's time to step up your game.

The show is so addictive because of the brilliant thought-provoking storylines and the wonderful chemistry among the actors...
when doesn't Max struggle to tell Helen how he feels??! i love Max i really do, but man he is not worthy of Helen right now - she's always done the heavy lifting while he gets to be the how can i help hospital guy. Time to step up Max! And he was like this while Georgia was alive too, so he's clearly always been that way.
Right on. He's going to have to step up. Helen deserves better. We can't have him repeating the same toxic behaviors that caused his marriage to fall apart. I can now truly see that Georgia suffered in that marriage.
In Season 2 Max clearly had feelings of guilt after his wife died because he developed feelings for Helen while she was still alive. Remember the psychic in S1 and the dialogue between Max and Helen about "this thing between us"? In S2 he said that he tried to spare her. He didn't want her to feel the pain that he felt bc surely he knew how she felt, especially after learning that she gave half of her department to Dr. Castro (I think that was her name). He loved his wife, but they had problems before he met Helen. He never put his wife first and he felt guilty. Even though he did not act on any feelings he may have had for Helen while his wife was still alive, guilt kept him from acting on it after she died.
Max is totally taken-a-back when he opened the door to Helen's office and saw Cassian kissing Helen. Max's facial expression in the closing episode scene, where he watches Shin and Helen dance tells the viewer a lot. I love all three of these actors.

I hate love triangles and this one hurts a little more than most. All these people are really good people and I like how wonderful Shin is with her. He is patient and he loves more than her beauty, he respects her skill as well and gives her space when she needs it. I think Max and her would be great but that relationship needs more time. Max and Sharpe formed a bond when he had cancer and only she, and his wife knew about it. After that, she was his support while he was grieving. For the relationship to be worthwhile, they need to have something forged on something other than a crisis. I also think Sharpe respected he was not ready and moved on (while the feelings may be there). She had no guilt or hesitation in going to dance with Shin and gave him all her attention.
True but he he was at his worst,at his lowest sometimes situations connect people just because of how they started doesn't mean they are that way now now all of that is out of the way and I like her and shin though at least now he finally realizes his Feelings!ugh what took him so long
1000% agree with everything. Cassian is really good to her and i want their relationship to last more than a season because they deserve it. Max needs to heal. Hes not healed yet
Sometimes when you're going thru something super emotional and or painful....you have one special person that you rely on, confide in, commiserate with. Then when the crisis is resolved, you and that person are not so close, at least for a few months. Being with that person reminds you too much of the struggles you just went thru. That may be thr case with Max and Helen

The Sharpwin community dearly loves Max, but we also love Helen. Helen loves this man so deeply that he has the power to wound her in a way that she might not be able to recover from. I think Helen senses that, and she is trying to protect herself as best she can. One way for her to do that is to not allow Max to think that she belongs to him and to him alone and that he can monopolize and control her existence. Clearly, Max is deeply in love with Helen, but he assumes that she will always return to him and will give him whatever he says he needs-and that may indeed be true. But if Max wants Helen and wants her to belong to him and to him alone (and I assume that he does), he is going to have to prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he is completely hers, that she is the only one he wants, and that he belongs to her and to no one else-alive or dead. In other words, Max needs to get very serious about earning Helen, or he is going to lose her. Taking off that wedding ring was a necessary first step, but there is more to be done. How could Max not know that? He should.

I would slightly object the "not allow Max to think that she belongs to him and to him alone and that he can monopolize and control her existence" part as it insinuate intent. Max is DEFINTELY able to do that to her but probably without realizing it. Everybody is so drawn in by his bleeding heart and unrealistic amount of kindness that they will do anything to help him.
@@yiklongtay6029 Well, I certainly did not intend to insinuate-or suggest, in any way, intent. So, for example, let's look at a young child's typical relationship with his or her parents. A young child, a four or five-year-old child, let's say, typically-and quite naturally-simply takes it for granted that his or her parents belong to them and are there to provide for their needs. There is no thoughtful intent on the child's part. The child simply takes that for granted. There is no conscious thought there.
So, you and I are in complete agreement. "Max is DEFINTELY able to do that to her but probably without realizing it." (Max and Helen are both such strong characters that I don't really believe that monopolizing or controlling the other person's existence would ever be a problem. They both have a strong and conscious desire to give the other person what that person needs.)
From my point of view, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Max feeling secure in the knowledge that Helen belongs to him and to him alone, and that is the way it should be-as long as he does what is necessary for Helen to clearly know and trust that Max belongs to her and to her alone. Specifically, what I have in mind is the wedding ring that Georgia gave him when they married. Yes, Max took off that wedding ring and put it in his jacket pocket. As long as Max chooses to hold onto that wedding ring he is choosing to hold onto that marriage. That is what concerns me. Max cannot give himself completely to Helen until and unless he is completely available emotionally. I don't know if Max is, and neither does Helen. If Max is not, and Helen later realizes that, I think that knowledge would inflict a deep wound that she might not be able to recover from.

Things are awkward between them because the nature of their relationship changed when Helen confessed her feelings to him. Max expects her to wait until he deals with his stuff. But she did not. He didn't give a reason to. What he wants to say is things are awkward because you told me how you felt about me and here you are with someone else. Max was married. Helen has dated other guys there was never any awkwardness in their relationship. The awkwardness came because expectations were different and something changed
But I think Max already new he egged her on to do it, I think he wasn’t expecting her to be with anyone and sometimes you only realise how much you like someone when you don’t want them to be with someone else
Max wasn't married when Helen laid her heart out on the table. Max struggles with his feelings for her because of guilt. I love sharpwin but I love seeing jealous Max lol, he needs to remove the ring, properly grieve and get his woman.

I never said he was. I said he was married, she dated other guys and there was no awkwardness to their relationship because of romantic partners, now there is. Why what's different? Someone confessed to feelings and now is dating someone else that's where the awkwardness comes from. Let's be honest here, If Helen never said to Max everything I do is for you. I think what he was really going to tell her was his real feelings for her. He just went with what Helen said about him dating someone. It is his defense mechanism. What went on with the mom he dated was a spur of the moment thing - a release, that followed through with playdates for Luna. But see, even though he wanted to, he couldn't even do anything with Helen that time she said she did everything for him, because there are real feelings involved - something true and special - and he wasn't ready yet to move on from Georgia. This is just me analyzing and hoping 😅. I'm a Helen- Max believer 😁

He was struggling with Georgia, and maybe how soon it was. I love though, that Helen has someone, that she is not just hanging around waiting for Max to get out of his feelings. The tinge of jealousy is cute too....I am still a Sharpwin believer.....but let Helen have her cake for once! Well done writers for this twist. Just dont let it last too long..😥
I was exceptionally disappointed that they killed off Georgia. The chemistry between Helen and Max was always there, but Max has made it so clear how devoted he was to his wife that them just breaking up again after the baby wouldn’t have been convincing. So sadly, the Helen Max pairing will always be tainted for me.
And if I’m honest, Max isn’t really showing any date worthy qualities right now. They should table that entire thing until he’s put in the work to heal and establish a sense of normalcy with his daughter. Then maybe them getting together would be good. Because right now, all he has time for is interactions in the hospital and going to bed.

Unfortunately, to make such a big deal about Max and his love for and devotion to Georgia while simultaneously playing up the chemistry with him and Sharpe undermines both FOR ME. Would’ve made more sense to have killed her off according to the original plan.

can Max make Helen really happy right now? so she can dance, joke and giggle with him? Shin can make it happen, he doesn’t carry such a huge emotional loss. Shin is what Helen needs now when she is terrified plus lost her brother and could not say goodbye. He can cheer her up and support her. Max and Helen belong together, they have love, respect, patience, admiration for each other, they will be great together one day.🤞🏻🤞🏻 Until then I will enjoy them and wait for the writers to tease us a bit more. Maybe one more season😄

Dr Shin is amazing with Sharpe but I don’t think there’s chemistry. Just seems forced. With Max, you can see the sparks. I just want Helen to be happy really.
I agree! Especially with the first episode he turned up. He had the personality of a cut out board. He has softened a bit though. The chemistry is coming. Trust Freema to make anything work (I love her acting 😍).

Bloom also knew that Max was seeing someone. Remember when Max is looking for his ring in the ER and Bloom asks Max if he took his ring off when he was "seeing that woman"? If Bloom and Sharpe knew, all of Max's friends at New Amsterdam Hospital probably knew that Max was seeing someone-word get's around. Besides, it's very unlikely that Helen would go to Max's apartment to share her feelings with him. That would simply be out-of-character for her. Helen is not the kind of woman who would pursue a man. New York City (Manhattan) is a large metropolitan area, but you just never know who you're going to see or who is going to see you.
I'm waiting two seasons for Max to date Sharpe. I love Sharpe's acting and they have so much chemistry online. my dream couple.

Helen has bent over backwards for Max. Now it's time for him to bend over backwards for her. They are just not ready yet, and he needs to fully move on from Georgia and not still be in love with a ghost. Helen deserves so much more than that.

You are absolutely right! Helen has bent over backwards for Max, and it is time that he do the same for her. Actually, Max has moved on from Georgia. The scriptwriters have told us that more than once. (1) In the conference room, Karen tells Max that the ring didn't just slip off his finger, and that he must have subconsciously taken the ring off. (2) During that same conversation, Max told Karen that when he looks inside (of himself, presumably) Georgia isn't there. (3) In the locker room, Floyd tells Max that after his marriage ended, he also continued to wear his wedding ring. Not because he was still in love with the woman he was married to. He said she no longer had his heart. Floyd said he continued to wear his wedding ring because he felt guilty. Max is not in love with a ghost. In fact, if Georgia had not told Max that she was pregnant after she walked out on him, it didn't look like he would have tried to save a marriage that was unsalvageable.
They love one another, they just need the courage to tell the other person. Pls don’t change the vybz of the show

Why can’t Max and Helen be together? There is no chemistry between Helen and Shin. He may appear to “be good with her” but underneath the surface, a narcissist is still a narcissist. She is responding to him half heartedly because she needs genuine love and a committed relationship. She will never have that with Shin. He loves himself more than anyone else-just like a true narcissist. He will become bored with Helen and dump her when he has drained her of all she has to give. Wake up Helen and turn to Max who can give you what you need, and with whom you can pour out all of the love you have to give-without fear of being hurt. The writers must be smoking crack this season!!

I disagree Dr Shin is not a narcissist believe me as I was married to one in real life. Sharpe deserves to have happiness, and you could see how happy Sharpe was during their dance there was nothing half hearted about it, even Max did a smile when he saw Sharpe happy and laughing. Sharpe was even getting frustrated by Max expecting her to say she was dating Shin and Sharpe asked Max while he never told her he had been a sexual relationship with a woman and asked Max why while Max fumbled giving no reply
Dr Shin was so understanding when Sharpe told him of her brother getting the proper person to help, being there for her and supporting Sharpe - Where was Max? - There was nothing half hearted when Sharpe woke up half-naked with Dr. Shin who is well fit as she was glowing with happiness. The show started and even ended with Sharpe and Shin who opened up about his adoption. Then as they lay on the comfy rug spoke of College then laughing they made love again. Usually, the show starts and ends with the star of the show who is Max but not this time.
Max meanwhile is still stuck in grief and he cannot expect Sharpe to wait forever as is a beautiful young woman who deserves to be loved. Max hurt Sharpe badly when she opened up to Max earlier in the season and Max said nothing all he did was twirl his wedding ring and Sharpe left the room looking so sad.
Max's wife has been dead for over a year now so if Max truly loves Sharpe then Max to get his act together or he will lose Sharpe for good as Sharpe deserves better than to be kept hanging on a string with Max as the puppeteer keeping her waiting but is playing a very dangerous game with Sharpe's feelings.
I love Ryan Eggold but I also love Daniel dae Kim who owns 25% of The Good Doctor and is still their chief executive producer so is in the very unusual situation of playing two parts in two top doctor shows both having equal ratings. New Amsterdam asked Daniel dae Kim to act as their trauma surgeon, Daniel did not ask them. This shows how highly Daniel is regarded among the acting community especially after starring in two top tv shows LOST and Hawaii Five 0 .
Daniel dae Kim is mega-talented, a top actor, director, producer and owns a Production company, he is in demand by other TV shows and on top of that he is such a lovely man and loved by all who have worked with him, a terrific actor with the majority of viewers loving Dr Shin after only 5 weeks, that is one example of how he is held in such high self-esteem by others including viewers.
Daniel dae Kim has worked with those in charge of New Amsterdam before and they knew he missed acting so they got in touch and he was offered a part to play. I am sure he is only in New Amsterdam on a temporary basis to see how things panned out. I am sure they expected his character to be hated as was interfering with the ship of Sharpe and Max BUT his unexpected popularity may change the storyline completely and Daniel may be asked if he can stay on by those in charge of the show. I still believe Max and Sharpe will end up together but Max is rolling the dice which may not fall the way he wants them to and needs a strong talking to but who would Max listen to ???

I see him as a man who is very sure of himself, and he is solid and confident in who he is; not a hint of jealousy when Max and Helen were staring at each other and talking. I'm sure he could see they were deep in conversation. I like Cassian. I'm a Sharpwin fan, but I was hoping to see C&H enjoy each others company a little longer. I did not know that they slept together because I've never watch a full episode of NA. All I have learned about the show is what I've read about the episodes on the internet, and through the wonderful compilation of videos that show the great chemistry and love that Max and Helen share. But, I am pleased to see Cassian as the happy distraction in her life, while Max has time to heal and let go. Max and Helen are undeniably in love. 🕊❤️🕊

Protect what? I think he was trying to protect Helen and their friendship which is why he never mentioned dating Alice. He fling with Alice was fragile but Helen was the person he couldn’t risk losing. He knew Helen had feelings for him, he flat out demanded she confess it in 2x16 and she got frustrated because he already knew.
I’m so glad that after all this build up he was finally able to let his guilt go, detangle himself from his past and move forward with Helen. I can’t wait til 4x01 when they show the rest of that final scene and we get to watch how they’ll navigate being together, taking care of Luna & running the hospital.
@@Pfruit0916 Yes! 😊...you really spoke for him. I wanted him to say all that to Helen, I kept feeling she opened up to him at 2x16 and he froze. He froze again in this scene....coz of bad timing.
I love how Helen didnt press him for anything, even though she knew his feelings. That voicemail was all manner of friendship interlaced with erotic longing.
The season finale was such a feel good culmination of all the tension we have all built up.

He’s taking baby steps and trying to get there but he isn’t quite there yet. I’m sure she fully understands bc she lost Mohammed, her fiancé. She gets how hard it is to get back out there again & open up to someone.

I think she told him indirectly when she told hiM she was stepping down as deputy chair due to family matters and then they did discuss her niece when they were at the coffee counter and snack was sharing about Luna head butting him and when he tried to change the name of the hospital her niece was working in her office
at this moment i just want to see max and helen being a good friend to each other. helen is so much happier with shin and since there was no history, they can start new. with max, there so much thing they have to sort and max needs someone who understand his pains and his inability to move faster with his life. but if they become friends, it will be easier for them to support each other.
