The best tutorial I've seen, trying to get into 3d printing isn't easy. Anyone will sell you the printer but the software is the Achilles heel where to get what's the best for the price how mainly does it work.
Sculptreis seems to be the best beginners go to program but then you need other programs to actually slice, compile and print that's the big? Thanks a million!

Super helpful! I've dabbled in Sculptris before, but some things I had no idea about. The Grab tool makes everything SO much easier - and I never used that before because I thought it was only for moving the viewport.

best and most interesting tutorial so far I saw on youtube, thanks! :) (ps. You can also change the size and strenght of a brush by holding shift/ctrl key on keybord and scrollup/down your mouse scroll [for me its more "natural" and faster but it doesnt matter that much] )

    Hi Ryan,
    Figured it out!
If you are a Mac and using mavericks got to your applications find sculptris folder and go to the config.txt and change "enable_shaders 1" to "enable_shaders 0" and save that's it the clay will go from flat to 3d.

How can we show you our work? I'm used to "construct" stuff in 3Dsmax, so there is basic knowledge on Polygons, Extruding etc, but I have never had the chance to work with something amazing like this. After 3 sessions within 4 days, I have already great fun and good results, motivating to dig deeper in this field. It so good to see how sculptris treets the mesh management and how natural it feels to work on it. I tried using my huion tablet and pen, but that was like ... laggy and not so cool. Still the mouse does a great job.
Even if the tools are at a certain point self explaining, the painting mode and brushes would need more explanation, but I still need to learn more on the sculpting side before diving into this next step of learning how to texture and paint the image.
Sculptris fills a great gap for me by allowing me to create organic stuff. It looks and feels great.
Your tutorial was a great help. It showed the process comprehensive and fast.
I now use the "reverse" flate tool to raise details and the "reverse" erase to sharpen the edges. The latter I tried previously with the pinch tool. which fails as it just collects adjacent Polygons at the same point. This looks like a gaussian distribution way to do it, but ends up destroying many surrounding details.
So in short, its great. I would love to use zbrush once, to see the difference and what it is doing differently, but the price is to high.
Is there a way to get the results from sculptris ready for a 3d printer?

you have to look at the object from the side. if you look at it from the front, then symmetry will affect both sides. if you look at it from the side, symmetry will still be in effect, but you'll be pulling along the symmetry plane rather than perpendicular to it.

sculptris doesn't have all the bells and whistles of zbrush. it just does one thing and one thing REALLY well: sculpting organic shapes from scratch. zbrush does a lot of stuff, but the interface and workflow are so clumsy and complicated. Mudbox does sculpting well and easily, but doesn't let you create meshes from scratch. I usually start with sculptris, retopo in maya and then finish in mudbox.

  • @RyanKittleson
    @RyanKittleson  11 ปีที่แล้ว

yes, but they should probably be retopologized before texturing and rigging. but it depends on how you want to use it. if you want a high detail organic object in the background that only needs a procedural texture, you could probably just export straight from sculptris!

@@oriexoventure6399 Click the Grab icon again if that happens. It seems that either it toggles between dragging the viewport and grabbing the actual object - or just interacts with whatever is clicked on first: the object or the background.

THANKS for the reply. I've read some of your other comments. Wouldn't it be great if there was a Sculptris pallette inside of Zbrush? Where you can sculpt exactly the same as Sculptris, hotkeys and all, with the same Sculptris technology, with the Zbrush tools and subtools? And you can switch in and out of Sculptris mode? That would be great. Thanks for the tip too, I am alt + Reduce meshing + smoothing in Sculptris then GoZ'ing it's coming along OK. thanks again
