I know it has been a real slog, but it's amazing to think back to all of the leaks, all of the rotten wood, all of moldy cork, all of the delaminated fiberglass, and how ALL OF IT is gone and replaced with properly installed, engineered materials. It's so cool to imagine the 1000s of miles you'll travel on open ocean with such a solid, trustworthy hull beneath and around you. What a transformation.
Fantastic episode. Great work Aladino. The pace you're able to maintain while not giving in on quality is truly amazing. Hats off to you. Thank you both :)
From partly a wreck, via a workshop to an almost useable ship. With four hands, a little bit of help, and a lot of effort. Thank you both to let us join you on your ongoing journey around the globe!
You guys are the most inspiring couple. Aladino, you take craftsmanship to the next level. I’m in awe of your patience, precision and focus. Maya, your resilience and ability to soak up new skills is equally admirable, especially as (and here I’m with you totally) it’s not your natural environment. I was a musician, my grandfather was a boat builder so I empathise with both sides. Just know that you are laying down deep foundations for yourselves. Chapeau to you both and thank you for sharing your journey with us.
You guys are amazing. I restore boats as well but never ever to the level that you two do. You are an inspiration to a lot of people and to the whole boating community! Enjoy Magic Carpet 1 and have a much needed R&R. God bless!
Every episode is now beginning to show the visible reward for all the hard work and understandable stress you have experienced. The quality and beauty of a lovely vessel is being revealed. This will last you for many years and give context to the passing emotionality of these past few weeks. Magic Carpet II is a credit to you both.
This is by far the most beautiful interior I’ve ever seen on a privately restored boat. You guys are amazing. I hope that for you especially Maya it was worth all the heartship.
Such an alien environment for Maya. But, I suspect, some fairly surprising music will come out of this. Sending you the best wishes, Maya. Poor Aladino, he has to drop his very high standards, and that hurts, I'm sure. You are an amazing team. This is going to be one hell of a boat! Supportive parents who understand what you are doing, are such a major boost in life!
Maya, you are truly magical in all you do, never forget that! Aladino, you are a truly a shipwright wizard, never forget that! And now it’s time to wrap up the chapter in the states, and then hopefully a more than well deserved rest in Europe. Rekindle the magical spirit, enjoy the atmosphere, the food, each other, the music! ((Maya I talking to you!) Always remember, the loving marriage is everything, never forget that! By the time you read this you’ll hopefully be completely packed up and winging your way towards rest and joy. My wish for you both, have a great, fun filled, joyful vacation. Let your minds and bodies rest, it’s so deserved!
the boat will be better than new once you are finished. After moving her to Canada you should take some time off to recover, both of you:) Hope very much you'll bring it to an end, very positive you'll succeed, I desperately want to see you sailing. Best wishes from Sao Tomé
You guys are really phenomenal! I still cannot believe there are young people like yourselves doing what you're doing. Glad you're taking a much deserved break. Love & light from Cape Town.💕🎉🌟
Hi you two, what a fantastic job you are doing on your boat, we have been watching it from the start and like the way you give 100% on what you are doing. It's hard to believe you have so much knowledge at the ages that you are. You really do give everything 100% and everything is perfect. Myar is doing a very good job on the wood she seems to be in her element. We hope that your move goes smoothly it must have been a worry finding someone you can trust to move your lovely boat. Look forward to the next blog. Pat and Peter xxboat
Dear Maya and Aladino. 👍👌👏 Oh WOW, what a pace! I wouldn't have believed that you two could work even harder and faster as you usually already do. You nevertheless still do very precise work. By the way: The interior looks stunning already. I'm thankful and relieved that Maya's Dad is able to help. But to me the most important and best thing is to hear that you will take a break and do some sailing with Magic Carpet 1 before continuing the refit. Congratulations 🎉 for having done this decision. Your "vacation" is not only very well deserved but also very necessary to upload your batteries and uplift your spirits. I'm totally happy for you. As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health in particular. To both of you of course.
I feel exhausted just from watching all you had to do in such a short time to get ready for the move. But, what an awesome boat you're going to have when you're done!
Every episode you can see an absolutely beautiful boat emerge from you hard work. It is going to be amazing to see it complete. You guys are brilliant and a joy to follow. Please keep up these great videos.
Another amazing episode. Aladino and Maya we are all praying the move to Canada goes off without incident and that travels to Europe allow for the R&R you both truly deserve. We love everything that has been accomplished to date, the every day physical and mental strain along the way will certainly be worth every moment you both share aboard this positively beautiful piece of art. You both deserve the best that life has to offer in the future.
I sincerely hope that you know that there are many of us out here who would love to be patrons but as senior citizens on very tight budgets, simply are not able to. Be assured that we all are so amazed at the beautiful work that you and Aladnio are doing that will turn this lovely boat into a jewel that will sail the oceans for many years to come. We await the completion of this great endeavor, even if it is to be in BC, with great anticipation and hope that you understand that there are many of us out here who so much love your commitment to this great task.
Maya & Aladino, thank you for sharing so much of your refit with us. I've learned so much from you both and it all came in handy as my husband and I had a survey done two days ago on a Cape George 36 up in Maine. Did the sea trial today and we've decided to move ahead with the purchase. Seriously would not be in this position if it weren't for the inspiration that you two have provided. As always, sending you massive hugs and support!
She is absolutely beautiful...you are exceedingly inspiring..altdino is amazing...and it appears he has accomplished so much without additional professional assistancee...and you Maya...totally courageous woman...excellent help mate on a very difficult project...thank you for your sweet emotional honesty...you keep the project moving...😊
Fantastic improvements in this week's episode. The boat is really turning great. You've been doing such a huge work for months. What an accomplishment, what a reward it is for you both. I am impressed, really. I can't wait for the next episode!
I have such admiration for you both in your absolute perseverance in creating something so truly beautiful. The beautiful timber, magnificent colour of the upholstery and all your carefully chosen fittings and finishes. I have a vision of you both at some time in the future relaxing in your beautiful cabin and taking in the fruits of your labors. You are sipping some nice wine, your violin resting on the lounge, chatting about all you have achieved together and you have finally made it. Now you will be onto the next phase of your lifelong adventure together in a beautiful sailing yacht you are immensely proud of because it is so much a part of you both. 🌞💖
Aladino you are a true craftsman. The boat is looking beautiful. So much work to get her looking like new. Amazing!!!! Your first mate is also quite amazing.
Both of you have been a force of nature. Your perseverance and careful attention to detail will one day be a big reward as you sail away in this beautiful boat. Really lovely job!!
You have done such a wonderful job taking her apart and putting her back better and even more beautiful than she ever was, and this boat will sail anywhere ❤️
take that trip to Europe, go see Magic Carpet, take her out for a short final cruise and enjoy the prospects of moving onto a wonderfully rebuilt, updated and rejuvenated Magic Carpet 2! that would be my motivation renewal escape😊
You worked and work so much that you deserve a break on MC1. Take a few months off. MC2 is starting to look like a real sailboat now, congratulations, Cheers, Richard
Such progress ❤ Port Townsend will miss you. Hopefully a meaningful break from the work will reset. Much of this year lost it's sunsets and regular days on the water, taking it's toll. Now conservation of a second wooden boat, more obligations on land.
You guys are awesome. The job...jobs you have done on this boat is absolutly incredible. Hats off to you both for all the hard streniuose work, the hardships you have encountered etc. etc. Sending you positive thoughts and énergie for the final stretch before you come to Canada. A break and à Holiday would be good for both of you, you would come back with new energy and à New love for your masterpiece of a boat for New adventures. All the best from us in Québec Canada for à good transfer from the US to Canada. Xx❤️❤️🍁
You guys are extraordinary. Your commitment to the project and each other is an example to all of us. I hope you find time to take a break when the boat is safely in Canada. A fresh start would do you the world of good and allow to approach the last phase of the refit with renewed enthusiasm. Power to your arms!
You probably don't have time to read this, but amazing work. Have enjoyed your you tube site very much. My wife & I owned an O'DAY 27 sailboat in the 1990's and I enjoyed working on it as much as sailing it. My skills were not anything compared to you two. Keep going.
It was amazing the difference the high build primer made - and Aladino I love your "Canadian" when you looked at the chart table "aye". Great work guys - inspirational.
Looks gorgeous! Time to sail, don't let perfectionism or fear interfer the Magic! Thing will always decay, always break, but as long as your magic is strong...
Love seeing these larger episodes showing the transformation! Great work, I'm rooting for you! At some point this period in your life will be a small blip and the skills you've gained from the experience you will take for granted because life is a series of journeys, each one small in itself compared to the total sum of your life's experience. Hold fast!
Fantastic, I'm so excited for the future for you two, the chart table looks amazing and I've never seen so much care and attention taken over a head (OK, maybe Leo...) I can wait for the next episode. Much love from England.
What can I say but bloody orsum it gets better and better, I'm not talking about just the boat but the hole way in which you produce some of the most watchable shows on the net. We'll done New Zealand 🇳🇿 ❤️
You guys are totally amazing! You’re gonna have one amazing home when you’re complete, but I like your idea of taking a short break and going to Europe. Safe travels.
Absolutely amazing , the work you guys have put in bringing this Cape George 36ft back to almost perfect condition. Aladino with your attention to detail and craftmanship and Maya the "Varnish Queen " well done !!! Enjoy your break on MC1 you both deserve some R+R good luck with the move to Canada . Fair winds!!
On the crunch I hope Maya can find time for her fiddle aka violin. And I am sure Aldino is like I need to work not talk. As this beautiful couple makes it happen as great couples always do.
This again is inspirational to me and imagine others. When you plan and work hard to acomplish, fulfill unplanned tasks, deal with unexpected facts and meet the target with honor worth to live it. Congratulations for such amazing chapter.
Maya, you surely do love that man. To go thru all that torture on a project that makes his heart sing as much as it does. Of course it is your heart's project also but mainly his. You will benefit so much, too, but such HUGE PROGRESS. HUGS to you both. Marvelous progress. Great that you are taking a break. You need one.
So glad to hear that you're going to take a break and catch up with Magic Carpet 1. Think you both need and deserve a break and a change of scenery. All the best. 🐟 😁
It will be interesting to see how much room the shop tools take up aboard. Totally love that chart table. Knotty grain is interesting. One hates 'em in structural applications but love them on non-structural applications.
The chart table turned out gorgeous, everything's starting to look like a boat/home again, congratulate yourselves, it's amazing what you've both accomplished thus far. Beautiful work❤
Keep going you two! You've got serious momentum now... MCII is looking so good. Love the plan to take breather after she moves up to Canada. Rewards and more joy ahead!
This is the fun part of any project. When the reality begins to catch up with the vision! Congratulations to both of you for the sprint toward relocation.
fantastic work, see all the hard work pays off, and suddenly it will all be finished, started as an old bath tub, well an averagely nice looking boat and after a fabulous make over by two wonderful people, just looks amazing
You 2 have accomplished so much and the end result is nothing more than perfection. Good luck with the last few days of hard work and the move to Canada. Cheers Ian
Phew, you two are rocking it!! As hard as this has been, the push is really going to put you in an excellent place when you resume work in Canada. I'm sure that it helps to know that it's a very short time left at this pace, vs. the ongoing slog that it's been for so many months.
I hate that you have to leave! So many break the law without consequences it really seems unfair. Be safe, take care and I’m looking forward to seeing what is next. 👍🏻
She is looking fantastic. I love the chart table and the wood for the head looks beautiful. I didn't know about the vacuum sanding blocks. Thanks, I'm getting one.
WOW you have done an amazing job on the interior, be proud of what you did and got through and of course the exterior is just as amazing. It's going to be a very beautiful boat when it's all done... WELL DONE....

Magic Carpet II is getting to the point where you can really get a sense of what the finished boat is going to look like. She's going to be beautiful.

Can’t express my admiration for the craftsmanship in your videos. It’s like watching a baby being born.
That first violin solo when you splash is gonna be the greatest feeling, big love to you both from Brittany France
You both have done a fantastic job of rebuilding your boat. I love it! It will be a joy to see it on the water.

Maya; the chart table top is beautiful and classy, just like you are! Great job!
Around 14:60 Aladino says “nice ea”. Yea he is coming around nicely. He will be getting skates and a hockey stick soon. A nicely varnished one !
I love watching you do your magic, what beaut she is
I hope you will both be giving yourselves a little break while moving, you certainly deserve it.
I agree, if the luxury of breaks is available in any project, you can help yourself a lot by taking them :)
Such progress ❤ Port Townsend will miss you. Hopefully a meaningful break from the work will reset.
Much of this year lost it's sunsets and regular days on the water, taking it's toll. Now conservation of a second wooden boat, more obligations on land.
Both of you have accomplished so much and the boat is looking really good take whatever time is needed to recharge and then return.
I'm impressed with the quality of the varnish work all around you. It's a glimpse of what's yet to come. Well done Maya!
The Aladino 2.0 is amazing productive! Respect!
Very nice montage of work. The music is superb as usual I thought I heard 10 string Symphony in there--one of my faves.

My brain hurts just seeing all the work you guys have done in such a short time. AMAZING. Love you guys. Take care and God bless you.❤
You are both amazing. You need to take a break once you move. I have learnt so much thank you. I have so enjoyed watching the refit of your new home.
I hate that you have to leave!
So many break the law without consequences it really seems unfair.
