That style of connector was standard on pretty much most cassette recorders. the switch is used to stop and start the cassette for dictating. It's nice because it breaks the switch onto its own connection ans the mic onto its own connection. I don't know what it is about square microphones they don't make them that much anymore and they look cool. I think a lot of the design stems from them being seen in the early days now everything supposed to be hidden. it Does sound pretty good.
Hey man I like the video, I love when ppl preserve retro electronics and the knowledge about how it worked and how to use it! Just to be clear you just used the 1/8th inch jack and ignored the other one?
Thanks!! I love collecting microphones, especially weird cheap old ones. Have a closet full of them and I plan on eventually making videos for all of them
I recently found one of these, an uher m153, and a reVox High Fidelity at a pawn shop near me and was looking for info. Thanks for the video it was informative.
Of course!! I have some other odd old microphones I plan on making videos on at some point too. Love collecting old mics, it’s so cool to learn about these old pieces of audio tech

shoutout to the ukelele hanging ominously in the darkness
There’s a mandolin hiding next to it that’s even harder to see!
