Thanks for choosing Raceseng Pete. I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the Signature.

Hey Pete, perhaps a little late with my advice but you do NOT need to remove anything to change the gear knob!
The fastest and easiest way to do it (as I posted it a few months ago on Rennlist) is to just hold the boot at the neck (the closest part to the shift knob), turn counterclockwise, and just pull up the leather from the part closest to the dashboard up. Just grab the leather and pull up. That will release the front clips. Then lift the front of the boot base 45 degrees and that will release the back L shaped clips. Then just pull the shifter up and the whole thing comes out. Total time, about 30 to 45 SECONDS!
I removed the boot to re-stitch it with red thread to match the rest of my deviated stitching on my T.
In any case, keep the original shift knob as it is one of those unique Carrera T pieces. It is the only shifter with the map printed in red of all Porsche cars, so worth keeping it safe!

Thanks AC. That was the original plan but when I got the car I changed to the black aluminum trim right away and I was afraid the boot clips would scratch it coming out. Hence the headache. The stock knob got some leather conditioner and went into the styrofoam box. Leather trim was sold on RL and paid for the aluminum trim (also from RL..lol)

OK, maybe I am going way to far with this... But if you put 0,5 kg of weight on lever you will simply apply some force on this lever... And lever will pass it to the gearbox.
Question: isn't this causing faster degradation and wear of gearbox by applying constant force to the gear shift mechanizm?

I havent had issues with weighted knobs in the past, but im sure it loosens up the internals over time. One of the nice benefits is that it makes shifting more precise, so I tend not to keep my hand on the knob and it spends more time on the wheel. I think resting your hand on there is probably far worse for the gearbox than the extra 500g of weight. This is a really good question, though.

With all respect!, To me t’s hard to understand why a purist guy like you, who appreciates beautiful high quality stuff (like your Akrapovic exhaust), choose this heavy aftermarket Chinese’s looking style knob, you just added back with this bulky knob about same weight savings coming from the RS rear glass !
All other thing in your car are awesome!
    Best Regards

Correct. I switched out that shift knob after 2 weeks for a much smaller and better looking raceseng one. They have multiple different knobs you can just screw on. The weighted ones feel so much better than stock. Just my humble opinion
