I love this version cuz you can actually travel in different places unlike the SNES version where you go SURFING instead of going to that specific place
Honestly if I remember its funny the snes version needs an exact year to go travel in time to. Like just like a thousand combinations of number, get the right ones
Okay, like... the game has you return Newton's apple and Edison's lightbulb and Shakespere's quill pen (even though I'm sure he could just buy another one). Cute, right? But then like, it has you return a sledgehammer to the Berlin Wall... and when you return the US flag to the moon it explicitly says its so the moon landing "can be claimed by the United States". And so there's now this implicit undertone that Bowser is a soviet sympathizer?! And I just... can't... 🤣😂
uknownada - This is true. And while we’re at it, I’m sure there were likely a bunch more sledgehammers around the Berlin Wall as well. I’m sorry, the Berlin Wall thing is the one that just absolutely threw me with this game. Like why did the devs choose that event and item specifically? I guess returning the gun to 1914 Sarajevo was just a bit too on the nose, so it’s on the cutting room floor next to the tank from Tiananmen Square and the missile from Cuba. 😅🙃
I played this game a before. I learned apparently the music here was done by the person who did Terminator 1 NES music. Paul Wilkinson? It seems some radical entertainment devolpement traits are apparent in some ways. Waynes world was by radical too. I'm glad the soundtrack here is MUCH more decent then those two. The Terminator and Wayne's World sound track was like the primordial ooze before this. Then I heard Speed Racer for the SNES. Radical entertainment involved there too. Honestly the music in Speed Racer SNES is kinda charming and its kinda cool. The ending music 30 seconds long and its a lovely song in my opinion. Named congratulations. One of my favorites of the the soundtrack.
Did this game have any hints or anything in the instructions to at least give you a clue what times to bring these random items? At least it isn't as bad as the SNES version. Also, this looks like the only Mario game where you actually jump on Bowser's head.
@@zitherq5761 nope, did think of that but this video show that it's actually related to the 1947 independance of india, because that was the only point of history where flags were ever used
Yoshi looks sympathetically at Bowser at the end.... was Bowser actually treating him better than Mario? If we go by 85% of Mario-related videos on the Internet that's not much of a stretch.
it kinda is, if you were to read the newspaper article you'd know that event X happened at Y time, and then you can ask your parent about it or look it up yourself
This looks like a shitty unlicensed 3rd party game or a bad romhack. Can't believe this was seriously a real game. Probably came later in the NES lifetime, after the SNES was released and the NES was already obsolete.
When Mario learns Bowser was a communist sympathizer stealing the hammer that broke the Berlin Wall and robbing the Americans of the moon landing, he goes nuts and shifts his time machine to random periods so he, a proper red-blooded American (who resides in the Mushroom Kingdom), can show that dirty Red Bowser what's what.
At first glance; I thought this was a fan-made game. I never knew this existed
You are not off... this does look like some pirated fan game sold in Russia.
@@TommyDeonauthsArchives What's weird is it's an NES game using Mario World sprites.
It's funny how being a NES game it has the Mario world Sprite
I guess to be consistent with the SNES version and it's prequel.
Cool and surreal

Really fluid gameplay for a NES game! Though I suppose that's not surprising since the SNES was well into its lifecycle in 1994.
At least this one has better gameplay then Mario's Missing.
It actually has better gameplay than the snes version
Yes it does
One of the last games for the NES, amazing.
So I release the apple. I'm told it's the wrong location, and a bird comes and takes the apple away.
Top of the tree in the mos rightmost place//
Wow! Who knew you could play the classic Mario Bros. Arcade in this game!
This game probably had more effort put into it compared to the SNES version
Possibly the last appearance of classical Mario, too.
Honestly if I remember its funny the snes version needs an exact year to go travel in time to. Like just like a thousand combinations of number, get the right ones
It's not even like a good platformer with time travel mechanics wasn't possible by then, Sonic CD released literally the same year as this game.
@@murphmariotwopointoh7714 seeing the events after 2004 ish, i'd say mario got his revenge.

Celeste good.

Unfucking The Timeline (Time-Slowing%)
And now is waiting the "Mario is Missing"
We need a remaster of this obscure masterpiece.
Oh wow, this perfect game gets TASed...

I think he’s just supposed to be a generic “sower of chaos” in this game, like when Lex Luthor stole 40 cakes. That’s as many as four tens.
I like how you mention Shakespeare could buy another quill pen, when Newton could just find another apple, probably on the same exact tree.

Wait this game was released 3 years after the SNES was released? Damn.
Kirby's Adventure for the NES was released 4 years after the SNES released.

1989 how hammer helped on Tiananmen massacre?😕
It’s the Berlin Wall, which was torn down in 1989.
