My god, what hapenned with the music of today? This world deserves more bands like October project. Great songs and lyrics. And Mary Fahls voice is something from another world, her voice is unique, theres nobody with this type of voice. October Project is a eternal light.
@@marksieving7925 Yes you're right. I know them cause my uncle had a friend. This friend is a musican and he was working with a famous artist from Bahia. They were at Australia for a tour, so in a music festival he met October Project and they were distribuindo their first album. This happened a long time ago. Ive been listening to them since i was a kid, and know im an adult. I remember that i used to think that the vocalist was a man. Rsrsrsrssr. Late i discovered that was Mary. Their were unique. Marys voice is unique and great. Their music is in our heart forever. Unfortunately people, nowdays dont know how to treasure real great music as their music.
@@Bellybruxa People now have as much ability to treasure great music as they ever had. Certainly, there is plenty of great music being made now. You just have to search for it, just as you had to search for October Project in the 1990s.
I heard this song in 1993 on the radio and couldn’t get it out of my head. With no internet to find it, I tried for 2 years and heard it again on the radio. I called the station to get the name and purchased the cd. Pretty powerful music to not be able to get it out of my head. It defines my life in the 90’s. Woke up this morning to a song in my head. I’ve been listening all morning.
I did some work for a recording studio -my job was to make cassette copies of the mater recording. I listened to one of the tapes because I didn't know who the band was, and was blown away. Their record label eventually dropped them because they had no ide how to classify the band - Rock, Pop. Folk, etc... What a shame!
I had to re-edit this comment. The band was just amazing, Mary's lead vocals were angelic and unique but the harmonies, and performance from the rest of the band was just sublime, they poured their heart and soul that night. Rarely have I seen a bad where everyone sings and they all make a perfect match, like pieces in a puzzle. A beautiful albeit brief piece of history captured here. Amazing... thank you for the upload.
It took me 30 years to see this! Thank you so much for sharing it. This appearance was from about the same time as I discovered the band, all the way over in Australia. I don't think I'd even heard any of the songs when I bought the CD, I think I was just entranced by the cover and knew instinctively that it was something special. Blown away when I heard it. What an incredible talent Mary Fahl still is, and indeed everyone associated with this "Project".
Just saw Mary Fahl in concert at the City Vineyard in NYC on 1/25/2019 and she was amazing. Got her to autograph a few things after her show. What a beautiful woman.
A friend of mine introduced me to the music of this band several years ago, and I have been smitten with the music of this group ever since. Their two albums--particularly their first one--were stellar, and I have been amazed that they did not achieve greater commercial success.
Amazing band ,nothing in the world can, sing like Mary ,for God !!! Still sound like an angel . I love her since the 90 s ,and forever . A cult band ,absolutyyyyy!!!!!!
October Project. They are "something happened long ago. Something that will not let go". so glad I got to see them several times when they were touring.
1995 in Mexico, there is a tv show that plays videos for hours, and they play Bury my lovely at least 3 times every hour. The video with the kid ghost, and her voice. Can't get it out of my head. 1999 I go to Seattle, needed to buy a drill. I go to a pawn shop. Got distracted by tons of cd's sitting on shelves at 50 cents each. Reach for the top shelf and grab the first cd I can without looking, it's October project's self titled album. True story.
Thank you for posting this! What a beautiful voice. I immediately bought their stuff and looked for Mary Fahl’s stuff too. I’m buying her stuff as I type this. Today’s radio crap doesn’t hold a candle to this stuff.
I'm 65 and have heard a lot of musicians. October Project's 2 albums don't have a song that I would skip past. And that isn't something I can say about anyone else- including the Beatles.
They basically had a short run, maybe3-4 years max, but they had such a powerful, indelible sound that got drowned out by the grunge of the early 90’s. Mary’s voice would send shivers down my spine.
I had the 1st two albums then Mary Fahl left and the others waited quite a while to issue anything. It was ok, but Mary's vocals really were the driving force.
I'm here in 2023. I've been an October Project fan since 93. I'm pleased to say that I'm going to see Mary Fahl's solo show in Columbus Ohio on May 12.
One of my favorites of all time; I think big name labels and producers had no idea of how and to whom they would market this incredible sound, so they passed. Too bad.
Conocí este grupo en 2010, me enamore de ellos, desde entonces los escucho, aunque me recuerdan un episodio triste en mi vida, ese año falleció mi padre, y siempre relaciono este grupo con su pérdida. EPD, donde estés mi viejo. 💕🌷
I’ll never forget seeing them live at this time opening for Crash Test Dummies. I knew nothing about them, and as I walked into the venue I heard that voice - I was already prepped for hearing a “unique” voice that night with Brad’s creepy baritone, so I thought maybe I was hearing another guy with a really strange voice. When I got where I could see the stage and saw this waif-like lady singing it just blew my mind. I wore out that debut CD and still listen to this day. Mary came through Houston as a solo act several years ago and I had tickets to go, then got sick. Still haven’t seen her again. 😢
Magnificent song, from a beautiful album. I also bought the second when it came out. a pity they didn't go further, I thought they hesitated between something folky and some more mainstream pop with bits of jazz. and Mary Fahl's voice !! What a fantastic singer ! I think she's a contralto. I've followed her since then. She did a few splendid albums. Like Lisa Gerrard, her voice seems to come from depths unknown to common mortals...
I heard they were on Conan but have never seen it till now. Thank you so much for posting. I saw them live at the Fine Line in Minneapolis 4-26-94 ... three weeks after this appearance.
kristianjl No, I cannot say that I ever saw them perform. They were quite popular with a few of my circle of friends at the time, but they didn't really thrill me, to be honest. I'm happy that the live clip makes their fans thrilled though, as I can understand that aspect quite well, when I come across clips of performers that have thrilled me, over the years :)
I have wondered that myself many times and remain mystified. I recently saw Mary Fahl perform and wondered why she was not playing to larger audiences. What a voice indeed!
Robert Harris I think a lot of variables have to sync up at the right time for a band to receive the commercial recognition perhaps they deserve. Maybe they were not promoted well enough for example. I also find myself wondering if their music may of been a better fit in a different time. Personally, I don't find their music at all dated and would think it would hold up very well being released even today. I did not discover this band until about 8 years ago, and quite by accident. If I had listened to them in the early 90's, I am not sure that I would have had the appreciation for them then as I do now given my taste in music has broadened considerably over that time. I find part of myself liking the idea very much that OP was never a huge commercial hit, but rather a true hidden gem that only a few fortunate people had the pleasure of finding.
+Robert Harris I've showed October Project to lots of my musician buddies, and they kinda seem to dismiss it as "new agey" or whatever. I think there's a kinda stigma to get past with their sound.
I remember watching this on Conan. I never watch the show, but I was already a fan of OT by this time, already had their first cd. LOVE OT. Not a fan of November Project. Not the same without Mary.
Original October Project is unbeatable. Mary Fahl is unequalled. November Project is also quite good. I have their only CD. Their lead singer was an entirely different style but very listenable.

Mary has always been the one voice that stole my heart from Tori Amos.
Agreed
October Project was unique in the 1990s, and of course, very few people bought their albums. I love their music, but it's not what most people want.

It's a crime that this band didn't achieve more success. Saw them LIVE 2 times back in the mid 90's.
2 of my favorite concerts hands down.
Likewise. She & they were magical.
Just saw Mary live 2 weeks ago, she is so incredible! I wish OP put out more albums before they split

Should have had a huge career
Years later, and I still feel ROBBED that we didn't have more OP with Mary.
Mary's voice is mystical and enchanting ❤🔮

Such an amazing voice. The whole band singing just adds to a great group. Wow just wow.
October Project. They are "something happened long ago. Something that will not let go". so glad I got to see them several times when they were touring.
Such a great band with a spectacular lead singer!
✨Their Album was released in “93”, & their sound is still captivating. This jewel along with “My Name is Ariel” are my favorites ❤️✨
Ethereal powerful beautiful performance 👍 ❤ 😍 🎶 🎵

I would love to see Mary reunite with the other original members. Their first 2 albums are about as perfect as anything I've heard in my 65 years.

What a gfeat band .I hear still OP ,and Mary is the best female voice of all the Universes,i totally love her
"Along comes Mary"
Mary's intensity is next level. God I miss this vibe. What has happened to us?
Mary Fahl has a singular and wonderful voice . She remember me Annie Haslam , from Rennaissance.
she reminds me of Happy Rhodes... fully recommended!
i bet this really suprised the audience, watching this performance . if i was there, i would have been stunded by this group and the lead singer
Can we also appreciate how good the keyboardist woman is?
Marina. She was great singing harmony and playing keyboard.
OP still exists as a three member band. Marina is often their lead singer.
Marina bellica. She is so passionate
Music exists for this reason; there are no words to describe such beauty...
This was serious music!! Loved it!
Mary Fahl,what a voice!
They basically had a short run, maybe3-4 years max, but they had such a powerful, indelible sound that got drowned out by the grunge of the early 90’s. Mary’s voice would send shivers down my spine.
Such a great band. They have their own eclectic sound that you instantly know who it is.
I had the 1st two albums then Mary Fahl left and the others waited quite a while to issue anything. It was ok, but Mary's vocals really were the driving force.
She sings solo now
If I remember correctly, they have tried later as November Project. I am afraid this was short-lived as well.
This is such a great performance. Everyone is in top form here. Thanks so much for posting this.
You're very welcome. Thank you for the note of appreciation, and hope you find a few more clips to your liking.
I can't stop listening to this song. Mary's voice makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Her voice is very soothing and relaxing.
I saw them several times in the 90’s. It was magical every time.
Who is listening to this enthralling song in 2022? (🙂 I am transported to another universe, and it is not the Metaverse !

Yeah I thought they were awesome back then and now I know they were one of a kind forever.
I loved them. Mary Fahl’s voice is one of the greatest in all of pop music. Vastly underrated group.
For being a small lady she caries a huge voice and commanding stage presence! Amazingly talented group here.
One of my favorites of all time; I think big name labels and producers had no idea of how and to whom they would market this incredible sound, so they passed. Too bad.
And Mary's hand gestures emphasize this dramatic performance.
Saw her solo (w band) 5/31/23. The power of her voice remains. Beautiful performance.
Mary's voice is so suited for Moody Blues songs, I hope she does more.
Love this song and Mary's vocals. Julie Flanders is a talented song writer.
Beautifull woman and great singer. Greetings from Venezuela.
Outstanding, full stop.
Watching the movie Blown Away Hearing Her beautiful voice captured my soul.
