Hi Nate, your video came up at the right time, about 9:45pm here, I was watching TV but nothing worthwhile was on then your video notification came up. Changed over to the iPad straight away. Like your area we have had a few days of descent sunshine now even though we have just started winter, so at least during the day it is warming up for a while. Great spot to spend some time, how awesome fishing & Fossicking (rockhounding) in the same spot. Some of those pieces look pretty cool, serpentine, chert & jasper. Even those ones with the quartz veins were interesting. That blue one looks very different, can’t wait to see how it looks once you get it back home. Looked like Danielle & Olive were more interested in sipping rocks than fishing, 😂😂. Another good video. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin

"...caught a couple things and, they were fish..." 🤣 I literally laughed out loud at that! Not sure if anyone else caught that. You crack me up Nate! Such a beautiful area with so many different kinds and beautiful rocks.😍 I really do love the chert you have there and I think that chert is way underrated. Thank you for sharing your trip and beauties with us!✌️🤠

Thank you so much! I've driven past the spot several times many years ago and never stopped. Revisiting along that section of road is on my bucket list now.
I'm sure the camera didn't do it justice. Thanks again.

Hi Nate, it can’t get much better, a river to fish and fossick in at one spot. 👍. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin

I love the sunshine but here in Oregon, we havent had much of it. Even on the few days that it doesnt rain, the sun cant break through the thick cloud layers either. So i appreciate your videos, so very much! And your lovely green stone quest, was nice! From serpentine to chert, every worthy green rock was at least examined and they were a lovely green too! I love chert too. That red to green one was beautiful. You didnt say how the fishing was? Isnt it funny how the two always go hand in hand? Thank you for the quick sun break in my otherwise dreary day. I really appreciate it.

I had little brook trout following the lure in and caught a foot long white fish from the rapids, no feasts , I doo love trout but they are so rear down here these days. I know Oregon sunshine well , or the lack of it, we are having sets of hundred plus days here, enjoy the north for me !

I saw a cubed-looking piece of red-brown chert like the green one in this video, in a creek in Arkansas last year. I thought it was hand-worked into the shape. I didn't realize they break off that way! Sacred geometry of nature strikes again.

The boulder in the middle of the river at 9:12 is jasper. I stopped there once and got a good look at it. The Eel is full of good stuff. Up by Fortuna, it is especially populated with great finds. Near Hwy 36 at the quarry river access is where the Van Duzan River meats the Eel. Imo the Duzan has some of the best glassy chert to be found in California.

mostly green chert , a few chunks of serpentine, the chert is more translucent than serpentine , and can be all shades and mixes from blu teens to grey and browns, brick reds ect.
